You need a channel with live access, permission for every recording and visual, an always-on server with enough outbound bandwidth, and a tested stream configuration. A VPS moves the encoder off your personal computer; it does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Choose the right format for your channel
A 24/7 music channel usually means a scheduled or looping playlist, rather than a person presenting live throughout the day. Decide whether listeners should hear a continuous selection of pre-cleared recordings or join occasional hosted sessions with a presenter and live interaction.

The official YouTube guidance below covers encoder streaming and music-rights cautions; it does not quantify the costs or compare these formats. This guide focuses on a continuous playlist because it is the simpler fit for an always-on music channel.
Prepare YouTube Live access before configuring the VPS
YouTube requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days to livestream. YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming at least 24 hours before the first planned broadcast. Check access early in YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance and YouTube for Artists; availability and current requirements are controlled by YouTube.

- Verify the channel and confirm that live streaming is enabled.
- Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction that would prevent the planned broadcast.
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to use.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder configuration on the VPS. Treat the stream key like a password: restrict who can read it, do not publish it in scripts or public logs, and replace it if it is exposed. YouTube describes the key as the credential that lets it accept the encoder feed (YouTube Help: stream settings).
Clear Assamese recordings and visuals for livestream use
“Assamese music” describes a language and repertoire, not a blanket licence. You need permission for the actual sound recordings and the relevant underlying rights for this use. A purchase, credit to the artist, or decision not to monetize does not by itself establish permission to broadcast a track continuously on YouTube.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects protected material, it may replace the stream image, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. YouTube for Artists says that if you plan to use copyright-protected music, it recommends coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid problems such as copyright strikes. A label or distributor licence may also require the channel to be added to that rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. Confirm the permitted platform, use, territory, duration, and any allowlisting requirement directly with the relevant rights holders before scheduling the stream (YouTube Help: copyright on live streams; YouTube for Artists, “Going Live for Music Channels”).

- Keep a rights record for each recording, including who granted permission and what use, territory, and term it covers.
- Check visuals as well as audio: album art, videos, photographs, and other assets may have separate rights.
- Ask the label, distributor, or other rights owner whether Content ID allowlisting is needed, and verify that it is in place before going live.
- If a track’s livestream rights are unclear, leave it out until permission is confirmed.
Choose VPS capacity and encoder settings
Use a VPS that can run your chosen encoder continuously and sustain the stream’s outbound bitrate. The YouTube guidance cited here does not prescribe a particular VPS provider, server image, FFmpeg command, or process supervisor, so choose those based on your own operational needs rather than treating a particular setup as an official requirement.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secured form of RTMP. Its documented ingest options include H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, with AAC or MP3 audio, and constant-bitrate encoding. For an H.264 stream at 720p30, YouTube lists a recommended video bitrate of 2–6 Mbps. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Select settings your VPS connection can sustain; the 2–6 Mbps range is specific to H.264 at 720p30, not a universal bitrate for every resolution or codec (YouTube Help: encoder settings and bitrates).

- Ingest: choose RTMPS when configuring the encoder.
- Video: select a YouTube-supported codec and a resolution and frame rate your media and server can handle.
- Bitrate: use constant bitrate. For H.264 at 720p30, use YouTube’s 2–6 Mbps recommended video range as the applicable reference.
- Keyframes: set a two-second interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Audio: use AAC or MP3 as supported by the selected encoder workflow.
- Network: leave capacity above the stream’s bitrate instead of running the VPS connection at its limit.
Set up, test, and launch the stream
- Prepare the playlist. Put only cleared recordings and visuals into the loop or schedule. Confirm that the encoder can read the files and that the playlist behaves as intended at its end.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the YouTube stream URL and protected stream key, select compatible settings, and configure the media to loop or follow its schedule. YouTube’s documentation does not establish a single required encoder application or VPS command.
- Arrange process recovery. As an operational choice, use a service supervisor or equivalent mechanism to detect an exited encoder process and restart it. Set up an alert so a restart loop or server failure does not go unnoticed.
- Run a rehearsal. Test with the actual soundtrack, visuals, encoder settings, and VPS network. Use a private or unlisted rehearsal where appropriate, and inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators.
- Check the viewer experience. Watch from a separate device and confirm the audio, image, timing, and playlist transitions. Check the intended archive behavior as part of the test.
- Start the scheduled broadcast. Confirm in Live Control Room that YouTube is receiving the encoder feed and that stream health is acceptable before directing listeners to it.
Operate it as a service, not a set-and-forget process
A “24/7” schedule is an operational goal, not a guarantee that a broadcast will never drop. YouTube recommends testing, monitoring stream health, ensuring sufficient outbound bandwidth, and leaving 20% network headroom. Monitor the encoder process, VPS network, server storage, and YouTube’s stream-health status. Keep a plan for a failed encoder, lost connection, rights complaint, or YouTube interruption (YouTube Help: stream health and troubleshooting).
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after the encoder stops sending content. That guidance does not establish that one broadcast can run indefinitely. If you intend to keep a channel live continuously, verify current YouTube limits and archive behavior, and design an operational plan around possible interruptions rather than assuming a single session will never end.

YouTube also advises checking the integrity of local archive files. Keep an independent backup of licensed music and stream assets so a server or storage problem does not leave you without the files needed to restore the playlist.
Troubleshoot common failures
