To rotate recorded hotel room tours on a YouTube Live channel, play the files in OBS Studio and send the encoder feed to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Use an OBS Media Source with Loop for one tour, or a VLC Video Source for a playlist that repeats or shuffles. Before broadcasting, check channel access, rights, the preview, and whether a continuous prerecorded feed fits your channel’s monetization plans.
Before you set up the stream
Check live-stream access
YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. This guide covers the encoder workflow; YouTube’s requirements for mobile streaming are different. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Check footage, music, and room details
- Use tour footage you are authorized to publish, and confirm rights for every audio element. Permission to show a room does not by itself establish music rights.
- Review footage for guests, personal belongings, access credentials, or other sensitive details. Remove or obscure identifying information where appropriate. This is a production check, not legal advice; the cited YouTube materials do not establish India-specific privacy rules for hotel tours.
- Keep the recording files available on the computer running OBS. Playback depends on those local files and the computer’s operation.
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights to use the live content on Google services, including music licensing rights, and to comply with applicable laws.
Choose how the tours will rotate
| Setup | What it does | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| OBS Media Source | Plays one local file; enable Loop to restart it when it ends. | A single tour or a simple repeating segment. |
| OBS VLC Video Source | Plays a playlist; Loop Playlist repeats it, while Shuffle Playlist randomizes the order. VLC must be installed. | Several tours that should play in sequence or in a changing order. |
These source controls are documented by the OBS Project. Check that your installed OBS version supports the source and file formats you plan to use.

Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Add the video source. In OBS, use the Sources panel’s add control. Choose Media Source for one recording, select the local file, and enable Loop. For multiple recordings, choose VLC Video Source, add the files to its playlist, and select Loop Playlist. Turn on Shuffle Playlist only if you want randomized playback.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, select Create and then Go Live. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow. YouTube’s current setup sequence is described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the encoder details into OBS. In YouTube Live Control Room, obtain the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the supplied details. Treat the stream key as a secret: YouTube uses it as the encoder credential that accepts the feed.
- Start OBS and inspect the preview. Start streaming in OBS, then wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check that the right tour is visible and that its audio is clear. If you scheduled the stream, use the Live Control Room’s Go live control when the preview is ready.
- Test and monitor. YouTube recommends testing the setup, checking the preview, and monitoring audio and video quality. Do a test before a public broadcast, especially after changing files, sources, or settings; monitor the live feed while it runs. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Plan stream length and archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on a longer broadcast becoming a complete archive. If a dependable archive matters, plan a stream length under that threshold; check YouTube’s current encoder guidance before relying on archive behavior for a particular event. A local recording of each tour is also useful as a separate copy.
Copyright and monetization are separate checks
Live copyright scanning
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies such content, it may warn, interrupt, or terminate the stream if the content remains. Even licensed material may require the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Details are in YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Reused-content review
YouTube’s monetization policies assess reused content separately from copyright permission. The policy addresses material republished without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value, and review applies to the channel as a whole. A channel repeatedly broadcasting prerecorded tours may therefore face a monetization eligibility question even when it has permission to use the footage. The policy outcome depends on the channel and presentation; no individual channel’s eligibility can be predicted from the format alone. YouTube’s policy page notes a clarification on inauthentic content dated July 15, 2025: YouTube channel monetization policies.

- The stream will not connect: Confirm live access, then check that OBS has the current YouTube stream URL and stream key. If you reset or replace the key in YouTube, update OBS with the new one.
- The same tour plays only once: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, use VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist instead.
- Playlist order is unexpected: Check whether Shuffle Playlist is enabled. Disable it for the listed order; enable it only when randomized rotation is intended.
- There is no picture or the wrong file appears: Confirm the selected local file still exists and that the OBS preview shows the intended source before going live. Check file compatibility against your installed OBS version.
- Audio or video quality is poor: Check the source file, OBS audio levels, preview, and the computer’s ability to play the recording while streaming. The right output settings depend on the computer, connection, and files, so this setup does not prescribe a universal bitrate or resolution.
- YouTube warns about third-party content: Review the flagged content and rights, including music rights and any Content ID allowlisting needed by the rights owner. Do not assume a license prevents live-stream interruption.
