You can rotate product demos in a planned category order by arranging tagged products in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and enabling automatic pinning. YouTube advances through the list every 60 seconds; it does not automatically detect product categories. Build the category sequence yourself, then tag products in that order.
How the product rotation works
YouTube’s documented live-shopping feature rotates through tagged products in sequence. It does not identify categories or group products for you. If you want to show categories in a particular order—such as kitchen, décor, then accessories—arrange each product in that planned sequence before the stream.

The automatic pin control advances to the next tagged product every 60 seconds. For direct control over which item viewers see, you can instead pin a product manually.

- Plan the run of show. Write down the categories and the products to demonstrate in each one. Put the full list in the intended order, including any transitions or products that should appear together.
- Open the stream in Studio. On a computer, go to YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live, and open the stream in Live Control Room.
- Add products in the Shopping tab. Use the product picker to tag items, then rearrange them to match your planned category sequence. The picker’s order is the order viewers see. YouTube’s product-management guidance says a live stream can have up to 30 tagged and rearranged items.
- Choose manual or automatic pinning. Pin a selected product manually when the host needs to control the featured item. To have products advance in sequence, enable the Live Control Room option that automatically pins tagged products one after another. YouTube documents a 60-second interval; multiple-product pinning is documented for desktop.
- Rehearse against the timer. Because the rotation is time-based, a product may advance while the host is still discussing it. The cited YouTube instructions do not establish a category-specific timer or a setting to change the interval. Plan concise demonstrations or manage the featured product manually when the sequence needs more flexibility.
- Finish product-list edits in advance. YouTube recommends completing tagging, rearranging, or removing products at least 30 minutes before the stream. Changes made during a live broadcast may not appear to some viewers who are already watching.
Make the tags useful and eligible
Eligible creators can tag products from their own store or products from other brands. Tagging another brand’s products is subject to YouTube Shopping eligibility and the selected retailers supported by the feature. Product visibility can also depend on availability to viewers in supported countries or regions, so a tagged item may not appear identically to everyone watching.

- Use and present products safely, and account for contractual obligations.
- Make any required paid product placement or endorsement disclosures.
Viewers access tagged items through the Shopping button or panel, and the creator can pin products during the stream. Shopping features and item availability vary by eligibility and location.
When a product drop is a better fit
If one category includes a timed reveal of a newly launching item, YouTube’s product-drop workflow may fit better than ordinary rotation. Product drops can be set up with or without publish dates, but the requirements differ: drops without publish dates require participation in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program or an eligible connected store; drops with publish dates require direct access to the connected Google Merchant Center or Shopify admin.

YouTube recommends setting up a publish-date drop at least a week before the stream and checking that the release time is consistent in UTC. Once configured, use Live Control Room to tag and reveal the drop. These product-drop requirements apply to that feature, not to ordinary product pin rotation.
