To keep a YouTube stream playing Indian-language content around the clock, send media files through a live encoder such as OBS Studio. Add the files to an OBS VLC Video Source, arrange them in the order you want, and enable Loop Playlist. That creates a repeating sequence; it does not, by itself, switch between separate language playlists at set times. For time-based rotation—such as Tamil in the morning and Hindi overnight—you need a scheduling method beyond the documented VLC playlist controls.
First, decide what “playlist rotation” means
A YouTube watch playlist is a list viewers can play on YouTube. It is not established as a live broadcast feed by the platform guidance cited here. For a continuous live broadcast, an encoder sends audio or video to a YouTube Live event. In the workflow below, OBS plays local media files and sends that output to YouTube.

- Repeat one sequence: Put language groups in the desired order in one media list, then loop the list. Each group plays when its files come up in sequence.
- Randomize tracks: Turn on shuffle if you want items played in a randomized order rather than a predictable sequence.
- Switch languages at specific hours: A single looping list does not establish time-of-day scheduling. The OBS documentation for this source describes loop and shuffle controls, not a clock-based scheduler.
Prepare the content and check rights
Organize the media
Collect the audio or video files you intend to broadcast and group them by language or block. A static list can place, for example, one language group after another, but the sequence will repeat as a whole. Decide whether a fixed order or shuffled playback suits your channel, and keep a separate record of the intended sequence so you can check it in OBS.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the live picture, interrupt the stream, or lead to termination if the content remains or a strike is issued. Even if you have a license, YouTube says a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent interruptions. Review YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming restrictions.
- Do not assume that owning a recording or being able to play it through a personal music service gives you permission to rebroadcast it.
- Confirm the necessary permissions for both the recording and the underlying composition, and for the territories and uses you intend to cover.
- Ask relevant rights holders about Content ID allowlisting where necessary. Requirements for Indian-language catalogs depend on the specific works, rights holders, territories, and use; the general YouTube guidance does not determine the clearances for a particular catalog.
Build a repeating playlist in OBS
OBS Studio’s VLC Video Source can play a media-file list and offers loop and shuffle controls. VLC must be installed; the OBS documentation specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS. The interface can vary by installed version, so check the current OBS documentation if a label differs.

- Install the required software. Install OBS Studio and VLC. Match VLC’s architecture to OBS: use 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS.
- Add the media source. In OBS, add a VLC Video Source to the scene you plan to stream. Open its properties and add the media files in the intended sequence.
- Choose repeat or shuffle. Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the list. Leave shuffle off for a predictable order; enable it only if randomized playback is wanted.
- Check the output. Preview the scene and listen for audio before connecting it to a public stream. Confirm that the first file starts correctly and that the sequence behaves as expected.
OBS documents this source as a media-list player, not as a language scheduler. A list can contain language groups in sequence, but do not treat Loop Playlist as proof that OBS will automatically change to a separate playlist at a specified hour. The sources cited here do not verify a particular plugin, script, or external scheduler for that job.

- Create or schedule the live event in YouTube Studio. Choose the stream setup that fits your channel and copy the stream key shown in the live control room.
- Configure OBS as the encoder. In OBS’s stream settings, select YouTube as the service and enter the stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel. Do not publish it or include it in a screen recording.
- Start the encoder and preview the event. Confirm YouTube receives the signal and that the expected video and audio are present before making the event public or starting it for viewers.
- Verify viewer playback. Check the channel or watch page, then test on a mobile device. Listen and watch for missing audio, black video, unexpected ordering, or a delay in playback.
- Monitor the live feed. Keep an eye on both the encoder and YouTube’s live status. YouTube’s setup guidance recommends testing before streaming; these checks reduce avoidable mistakes but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
Plan for bandwidth, outages, and archives
Leave upload headroom
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend keeping upload bandwidth headroom of 20% and considering the primary and backup stream bitrates together. The recommendation concerns the available upload capacity at the streaming location; a network disruption can still break the stream. Read YouTube’s live-streaming tips and test the actual connection you will use.
Test failover and decide who will monitor
YouTube’s tips describe testing a backup encoder. If a 24/7 channel depends on a local computer, plan who can respond to power, network, computer, or encoder failures, and test the recovery procedure rather than assuming the stream will resume by itself. A local setup is not a guarantee of continuous availability.

Keep a local recording if the archive matters
YouTube says it can automatically archive a stream shorter than 12 hours, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a preserved copy, record locally as a backup and review YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.
