Use OBS Studio’s VLC Video source to play Hindi and English media in a planned order, then send the scene to YouTube Live. Add the files in sequence, keep Shuffle Playlist off for a predictable rotation, and enable Loop Playlist if you want the sequence to repeat. You need VLC installed for OBS’s VLC source.
Choose the rotation you want
OBS plays playlist items in the order you add them; it does not identify or sort tracks by language. Arrange the files yourself to create the sequence:

- Language blocks: Add all Hindi files, followed by all English files.
- Alternation: Add one Hindi file, then one English file, and repeat that pattern.
- One pass or repeat: Leave Loop Playlist off for a single pass; turn it on to restart the full sequence after the last item.
Use shuffle only if you deliberately want a random order. OBS’s VLC Video source supports multiple playlist items and separate shuffle and loop controls. See the OBS media sources documentation.

Set up the playlist in OBS
- Prepare your files. Save the audio or video files you have permission to stream in a local folder. Rename or sort them if that makes the intended order easier to verify. OBS documents audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV, and video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM.
- Install VLC and open OBS. OBS needs VLC installed for the VLC Video source to be available. If you install VLC while OBS is open, restart OBS.
- Create a scene and add the source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene. Add your files to its playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Set playback behavior. Keep Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed Hindi/English sequence. Turn on Loop Playlist if the complete playlist should start again after the last item.
- Check the presentation. For video files, arrange the scene so the picture is sized appropriately. For audio-only files, add a static image or another intended visual. Play a representative file and watch OBS’s audio level to confirm that sound is reaching the scene.

Create a YouTube Live stream and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room. Create a stream for now or schedule it for later. Scheduling can help promote the stream and lets viewers request reminders.
- Find the encoder details. Open the stream’s settings or encoder details in Live Control Room and copy the YouTube server URL and stream key.
- Enter the details in OBS. Open OBS’s stream settings and enter the server URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start streaming from OBS, then check the YouTube preview and stream-health messages before you consider the broadcast ready for viewers.
- Go live and monitor it. Confirm the stream in YouTube Studio, then monitor audio and video during the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the server URL and stream key; its live stream settings guide covers stream controls.
YouTube recommends choosing encoder quality that your available upload connection can reliably sustain. Test with representative audio and video movement before the broadcast, and use YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and live streaming tips when checking quality and stream health.
Check music rights and what happens to the archive
Only stream audio, video, and artwork for which you have the necessary rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including music. If it detects a match, it may replace the live video with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the content; continued use can interrupt or terminate the stream. Having a licence does not necessarily prevent an interruption: the rights owner may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived live streams can receive Content ID claims after the broadcast. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |

| VLC Video is missing from OBS’s source list | VLC is not installed, or OBS has not been restarted since installation. | Install VLC and restart OBS, then look for the VLC Video source again. |
