To romance Anca, progress her personal quests through Stronger Than Achilles, complete the Font of Life sequence, then return to the inn and finish the conversation with her. When offered the romance invitation, choose the affirmative response. A commonly reported sequence is “I meant what I said,” followed by “Screw decency. I want you, too,” but dialogue can vary with earlier choices—follow the prompt shown in your game.
Quest order for Anca’s romance
Keep Anca available and follow her active journal entries rather than trying to jump directly to a remembered dialogue choice. The route builds across her personal quests and reaches its romance opportunity after the Font of Life sequence.

- Withering Away / Page-Turner: Anca is introduced while Coen seeks medicine for his mother. PC Gamer’s route guide describes Page-Turner as an early chance to spend time with Anca and flirt. Those early options are opportunities, not a checklist of mandatory romance flags.
- Echoes of Silenced Bells: Complete Anca’s quest and continue following her journal. PC Gamer does not list the quest’s final choice as a romance blocker.
- Between the Words: Continue her personal questline. Tea and book conversations include optional warm or flirtatious responses.
- Where Old Devils Lie: Continue the route and take the optional relationship dialogue if you want to express care.
- Stronger Than Achilles: Complete the quest through the Font of Life sequence. The romance opportunity comes afterward, not as part of the Font decision itself.
- Return to the inn: Finish the conversation with Anca and accept the invitation offered by your game’s dialogue. PowerPyx lists “I meant what I said” and then “Screw decency. I want you, too” as the responses in its walkthrough; the independent Dawnwalker Wiki cautions that previous choices can change the exchange.
Which choices are required?
The available post-release guides identify Anca’s questline and the late inn conversation as the core route. They do not establish every early flirt, confession, or caring response as required. If an optional relationship line appears during an earlier quest, you can choose it to shape those scenes, but do not assume missing one automatically ends the romance.

How to avoid a route mistake
- Use Anca’s current quest journal to keep the personal route moving; do not rely on a fixed dialogue script from another playthrough.
- Treat the Font of Life decision and the later romance response as separate choices. The relationship conversation follows the Font sequence.
- Consider saving before the Font sequence and before the final inn conversation if you want the option to revisit those decisions.
- At the inn, respond to the invitation actually displayed. Earlier dialogue may alter the wording or exchange.
Why dialogue lists may differ
The route details here come from post-release walkthroughs, not official patch notes or a claim of firsthand testing. The developer had confirmed romance options before release: in a May 15, 2026 Game Informer interview, game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said, “You will see it after we release the game, but there will be some romance options that you can do.” Game Informer reported the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a September 3, 2026 release. Because the route guides note dialogue variation, the in-game journal and current prompt are more useful than treating any one list as universal.
