If Nothing OS 5.0 is unstable on your phone, use Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub > Check Version > Request Rollback, then follow the on-screen confirmation to install the downgrade OTA. The official rollback is a factory-reset-style operation: it erases the phone’s local data, so make and verify a backup before you confirm it.
The option appears only when your model, region and installed build are eligible. Nothing delivers the target version as an OTA rather than promising one universal build number, so the exact stable version shown on your phone can differ.

What rolling back Nothing OS 5.0 actually does
Nothing’s supported downgrade path is handled through a system OTA update. The phone requests authorization in Nothing Beta Hub, then redirects to System updates to download and install the eligible downgrade package. This is not an ordinary app update and it is not a way to keep the current installation while replacing only a few system files.

Nothing requires you to confirm that all data will be erased. Treat the procedure like a factory reset: locally stored photos, messages, call logs, authenticator data, downloads, app data and other files can disappear. Cloud-synchronized information may be recoverable after you sign back in, but you should not start the rollback on the assumption that every app or account will restore perfectly.

The downgrade target is selected for the specific device and region. Nothing’s official instructions do not identify one universal target build for every phone, so use the version presented by System updates rather than attempting to install a build intended for another model.
Check whether your phone can roll back
Open Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub and select Check Version. If the beta installation is eligible, the hub shows Request Rollback. If that control is missing, the installed build, model, region or rollout status may not be eligible through the official process.
Nothing’s OS 5.0 information says that Phone (1), Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 have reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0. Those models therefore should not be assumed to have an OS 5.0 rollback path. Check the Beta Hub on the actual phone instead of relying on a list copied from another region or device.
Prepare the phone before requesting the downgrade
Once the rollback request is confirmed, the window is limited. Complete the following preparation before you tap the final confirmation:
- Back up irreplaceable files. Copy photos and videos to a service or computer you can access after the reset. Export documents and downloads that exist only on the phone.
- Protect communication records. Verify that contacts, messages and call logs are included in the backup method you use, rather than assuming every account synchronizes them.
- Save authenticator access. Export or transfer time-based authentication codes and store recovery codes. A reset can remove the only local copy of those credentials.
- Confirm account access. Make sure you know the Google account credentials used on the phone and can complete two-factor authentication after setup.
- Charge the phone and arrange reliable Wi-Fi. Nothing Support requires at least 40% battery for an OTA upgrade and recommends a network with a good signal.
- Free enough storage. The downgrade package must be downloaded locally. Remove unnecessary files if System updates reports insufficient space.
- Plan uninterrupted time. Do not begin if you need the phone immediately. The request can take up to five minutes to synchronize, followed by the download, reboot and installation.
Do not use a third-party package or a build for a different model to avoid the official eligibility check. The supported flow is the one offered by Nothing Beta Hub.
Official Request Rollback procedure
Follow these steps on the phone that is running the eligible Nothing OS 5.0 build:
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Open Nothing Beta Hub.
- Tap Check Version and wait for the eligibility check to finish.
- Tap Request Rollback when it appears.
- Wait for the confirmation message, Request Successful. Nothing says the request can take up to five minutes to synchronize and remains valid for 48 hours.
- Tap OK on the successful-request message.
- Tap Go to Rollback.
- Read the warning, confirm that you understand all data will be erased and verify that your backup is complete.
- Tap Confirm & Rollback.
- Allow the phone to redirect to System updates. Download and install the downgrade OTA shown for your device.
Keep the phone connected to power if possible, stay on reliable Wi-Fi and leave it untouched while the OTA is installing. Do not press the power button or perform other actions during the upgrade process.

What to expect after “Confirm & Rollback”
The request window
Your successful request is usable for 48 hours. The synchronization itself may take up to five minutes. If you wait beyond the 48-hour window, return to Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub > Check Version and submit a new rollback request.
The OTA download
After you choose Go to Rollback and confirm, the phone opens System updates. The package and target version are selected for the eligible device; Nothing does not publish one downgrade build that applies to every model and region. Check the displayed version before proceeding, especially if you were expecting a particular stable release.
The reset and first boot
The operation erases the phone as it installs the earlier software. The first boot can take longer than a normal restart. When setup appears, connect to Wi-Fi, sign in with the Google account you prepared, restore the available backup and reinstall apps. Re-enable authentication methods using the transfer or recovery information you saved before the reset.
Using the Import File option
Nothing says the previous Import File option remains at the bottom of Nothing Beta Hub as a backup method. The company recommends Request Rollback instead because it is the current supported route through an eligible system OTA.
Use Import File only when you understand the source and compatibility of the file and the Beta Hub presents the option for your device. Do not rename a package, alter its contents or use a file intended for another model or region. An incompatible package can leave the phone unable to complete the update and may require customer support.

If Request Rollback is missing
Check the installed build again
Tap Check Version rather than assuming that being on a beta automatically grants a downgrade. Eligibility is tied to the specific build and rollout. Install any pending Beta Hub or system information update, restart the phone, then check again.
Check the device and region
Nothing’s eligibility is not a guarantee for every phone sold under a family name. The official page states that Phone (1), Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 will not receive Nothing OS 5.0 because their major software support has ended. For other models, the Beta Hub result on your phone is the decisive check.
Renew an expired request
A request that was successful but not used within 48 hours expires. Open Beta Hub, choose Check Version and request rollback again. Wait for Request Successful before selecting Go to Rollback.

Fixing a failed or stuck rollback OTA
Nothing Support identifies four practical prerequisites: a good network signal, sufficient storage, at least 40% battery and no interruption while the OTA is running. Work through the symptom that matches what you see.
“Download failed” or the package will not start
- Connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network rather than a weak or unstable connection.
- Check available storage in the phone’s storage settings and remove or move large files if needed.
- Charge the battery to at least 40%; Nothing Support says the system will not allow an OTA upgrade below that level.
- Return to Settings > System > System Update and retry the download.
The installation stops after you leave the phone alone
Do not press the power button or interact with the phone during installation. If the process was interrupted, restart the phone and try the upgrade again, as Nothing Support advises. Keep the device on a stable connection and with adequate battery before retrying.
The request synchronized but Go to Rollback does nothing
Wait the full synchronization period, which can be up to five minutes, then reopen Beta Hub and check the request status. If the 48-hour validity period has passed, submit a fresh request. Do not repeatedly tap the confirmation controls while the system is still synchronizing.
The phone cannot complete the OTA after multiple attempts
Stop trying alternate packages and contact Nothing Customer Support. Tell support the phone model, region, current build, the point at which the OTA failed and the checks you already completed. Keep the phone charged and do not wipe additional partitions or use unofficial flashing instructions unless support specifically directs you.

Rolling back is not automatically the best response to every bug. Compare the consequences with waiting for a patch before you commit to a reset.
| Choice | Data impact | Reliability outcome | Time and effort | Eligibility or dependency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Request Rollback | Local data is erased during the official downgrade. | Returns to the stable OTA offered to the eligible device. | Requires a verified backup, reset, OTA download and app restoration. | Nothing Beta Hub must show Request Rollback for the model, region and build. |
| Stay on OS 5.0 | Preserves the current installation and local data. | Existing bugs remain until a future update addresses them. | Requires no reset; monitor System updates and manage the current symptoms. | No rollback request is needed, but the phone must continue operating well enough to receive updates. |
| Wait for a fix | Preserves the current installation and local data while you wait. | A later patch may resolve the issue, but its timing is not guaranteed. | Monitor updates and keep backups current. | Depends on Nothing releasing a compatible update for the device and region. |
Choose rollback when the current software problem makes the phone unreliable and Beta Hub offers the official request, provided you can accept the data wipe and complete a backup. Staying or waiting is less disruptive when the issue is minor and the phone remains usable.
Restore your phone safely after the downgrade
Complete the initial setup
- Connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network during setup.
- Sign in with the Google account whose credentials and two-factor method you verified before the reset.
- Select the available backup when Android offers restoration.
- Leave the phone connected to power while apps and synchronized data return.
Verify the items that matter most
- Open Photos or your chosen storage service and confirm recent pictures and videos are present.
- Check Contacts, Messages and call history rather than assuming the restore completed.
- Restore authenticator accounts with exported data, a transfer process or recovery codes.
- Re-download files that were stored only locally and reinstall apps that did not return automatically.
- Review banking, work and security apps individually; many require a fresh sign-in or device approval after a reset.
Do not erase the backup source until these checks are complete. A rollback can return the operating system to a stable eligible OTA, but it cannot recreate files that were never copied or synchronized.
Important limits and safety checks
- No universal target build: the downgrade version is delivered through the eligible OTA and can vary by model and region.
- No guaranteed preservation of local data: the official confirmation explicitly warns that all data will be erased.
- No unlimited request period: each successful request remains valid for 48 hours.
- No safe interruption: pressing the power button or using the phone during installation can interrupt the OTA.
- No workaround for unsupported devices: if Beta Hub never offers Request Rollback, contact Nothing Support rather than forcing an unrelated package.
When to contact Nothing Customer Support
Contact Nothing Customer Support if the phone repeatedly fails the eligible OTA despite reliable Wi-Fi, adequate storage and at least 40% battery; if it cannot boot normally after an interrupted installation; or if Beta Hub reports a successful request but never provides the rollback action within the valid window. Include the model, region, current OS/build information, request time and any exact error message. This gives support the details needed to distinguish an expired request, an eligibility issue and an installation failure.
