That may mean stopping the agent from using an app, disconnecting an account inside an AI product, revoking the app’s authorization in the account provider, or asking a work administrator to remove an organization-managed grant. These controls are separate, so there is no universal menu path—and changing an agent’s usage setting alone may not revoke the underlying account access.
First identify which access you want to remove
Before changing a setting, identify the account provider, the AI product, and whether the connection is personal or managed by an organization. An agent may have permission to use an app without the app link being removed; an app may remain authorized with the account even after the agent stops using it.

- Agent access: whether a particular AI agent can use a connected app.
- AI-product connection: the account or app connection configured inside the AI product.
- Provider authorization: the app’s permission to access the account itself.
- Organization-managed grant: permissions assigned to a work agent or application by an administrator.
When you have more than one connection, check who controls each grant, what the setting removes, whether it applies to one account or an entire workspace, and what other access remains.
Revoke a Google app or Google AI agent’s access
Google provides separate controls for removing an app’s authorization to your Google Account and for stopping an agent from using a linked app. Use the Google Account linked-apps page at Manage links between your Google Account & apps from other developers.

Remove the app’s access to your Google Account
- Open the Google Account linked-apps page and select the app.
- Review the access shown, then select Remove access.
- Confirm the removal.
Google says the app can no longer access your Google Account after removal, though some of its features may stop working.
Stop an agent from using a linked app
- On the same linked-apps page, search for the app or filter by Agent access.
- Select the app and choose Stop using under the relevant agent.
- Confirm the change.
This stops that agent’s access but does not unlink the app from your Google Account. Google states: “Removing an agent’s access does not disconnect or delete your Google Account’s link with that app.” If you want to withdraw both kinds of access, review and remove each applicable permission.

Disconnect an app account from ChatGPT
To stop future access through a connected account, open Settings > Apps or Plugins, select the app, choose the relevant connected account or connection menu, and select Disconnect. OpenAI’s help page describes the path as Settings > Plugins; labels can vary by interface. See Connecting and managing app accounts in ChatGPT.
If you have connected more than one account, disconnect the account whose access you want to end. Disconnecting one does not necessarily remove other connected accounts or workspace connections managed by an administrator.

Do not treat an app’s permission or approval setting as a revocation. OpenAI explains that “Changing an app permission does not disconnect the app or revoke access already granted to a provider account.” Use the disconnect control to end access through that account; if needed, also check whether the provider offers a separate way to unlink or revoke the app. Details are in Managing app permissions in ChatGPT.
Handle a Microsoft Entra-managed work agent through your administrator
If the agent or account is managed by your employer or organization, contact its administrator or security/helpdesk team. Microsoft says a user or administrator can remove or disable an agent or its permissions, while global removal is performed by an administrator using Microsoft Graph API or Microsoft Entra PowerShell. - Delegated permissions: an interactive agent acts on behalf of a signed-in user.
- Application permissions: an autonomous agent uses app-only access.
These can be represented by different assignments; a user disconnect may not remove an organization-wide grant. Microsoft describes agent access to Microsoft 365 resources in Grant agents access to Microsoft 365 resources. Administrators working with the documented Google Workspace and Salesforce app-governance cases can also consult Microsoft’s Remediate OAuth app threats with app governance alerts, which describes reviewing permissions and related activity before using the revoke control.

Check what remains after revocation
After making the change, verify the scope of the action rather than assuming every route to the account is closed. Check for:
- another connected account for the same app;
- a separate agent-use permission or provider authorization;
- a workspace or tenant connection maintained by an administrator; and
- other grants or assignments held by the agent or application.
Revoking access is also different from deleting information already retrieved or saved. If your concern includes saved conversations, files, or provider-side retention, use the relevant product and provider data controls separately.
