Open Telegram’s session manager at Settings > Devices or, in some clients, Privacy & Security > Active Sessions. Review the listed devices, then use the terminate or log-out control on the specific session you no longer trust or use. Multiple sessions are normal because Telegram supports one account on phones, tablets and computers; an unfamiliar device is the reason to investigate, not simply the existence of several entries.
What an active Telegram session means
A session is an authorized Telegram login on a particular phone, tablet, computer or web client. Telegram is designed for simultaneous use on multiple devices, so seeing your phone, a tablet and a desktop together does not by itself indicate that someone has entered your account.

The session list is useful for three different jobs:
- Checking which devices currently have access.
- Revoking one device that you no longer own, recognize or use.
- Signing out every other device after a loss, theft or suspected compromise.
Session termination removes that device’s authorization. It does not delete your Telegram account or erase cloud-stored conversations.

Find the session list on desktop and mobile
Telegram’s official FAQ gives two equivalent locations. The exact wording and arrangement can differ between Android, iOS, desktop and web releases, so look for either path:
- Settings > Devices
- Settings > Privacy & Security > Active Sessions
Telegram’s interface catalog uses labels including Active Devices, This device and Terminate all other sessions. A current client may use “sessions,” “devices,” “log out” or “terminate” for the same controls.
On a phone or tablet
- Open Telegram and go to Settings.
- Open Devices. If that item is not shown, open Privacy & Security, then Active Sessions.
- Read each entry’s device type, operating system, approximate location and recent activity, when displayed.
- Open the entry you want to remove and choose its terminate or log-out command.
- Confirm the action. The device should disappear from the active list or become unauthorized.
On Telegram Desktop
- Open the desktop application and select Settings from the main menu.
- Select Devices, or open Privacy & Security and then Active Sessions if that is how your build labels it.
- Identify the computer or other device to remove. Do not assume that every desktop entry is suspicious; compare it with computers you actually use.
- Choose the entry’s terminate, log-out or equivalent control and confirm.
The reviewed official materials do not establish one separate, click-by-click sequence for every current desktop, Android and iOS release. If a label is different, stay within Settings and look for the page that lists active devices or sessions rather than relying on an old screenshot.
What to record before removing an entry
If the list is crowded, pause long enough to identify the session accurately. Note the device type, operating system, approximate location and last-activity time shown by Telegram. Compare those details with the phones, tablets, work computers and browsers you actually use. A desktop entry may be your home computer, a browser session may be an older web login, and a mobile entry may reflect a replacement phone that you forgot to remove.
Do not treat a location as a precise verdict. Cellular routing and VPNs can make a familiar device appear to be in another city or region. The combination of device description, operating system and activity time is more useful than any single location field. When you still cannot account for an entry, terminate it rather than leaving an unknown authorization active.
How to decide which session to terminate
| Situation | Recommended action | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| A device you still use | Leave it authorized | Telegram supports concurrent logins. |
| An old phone, shared computer or sold tablet | Terminate that individual session | Removes access without disrupting your other devices. |
| A device you do not recognize | Terminate it, then secure the account | The entry may represent unauthorized access. |
| A lost or stolen phone | Terminate the phone’s session immediately if possible | Prevents Telegram access from that device. |
| Every other device must be signed out | Use Terminate all other sessions | This signs out all other authorized devices, not just one. |
Use individual termination for routine housekeeping. For example, after selling a tablet, remove only the tablet and leave your current phone and desktop connected. The broad command is better reserved for a deliberate security reset, because it signs out every other phone, tablet, computer and web session at once.
Location data can be approximate, especially on cellular networks or when a device uses a VPN. Treat the device name, operating system and activity time as clues to compare with your own history, not as proof that a location is exact.

- Sign in to a Telegram session you trust.
- Open Settings > Devices or Privacy & Security > Active Sessions.
- Find the unwanted device in the list. Use This device to distinguish the session you are currently using from the others.
- Select the unwanted entry.
- Press Terminate session, Log out or the equivalent command shown by your client.
- Recheck the list to confirm that the entry is gone.
If you do not recognize the session, also turn on Two-Step Verification after removing it. Terminating a session stops that authorization; it does not reveal how the login occurred or protect a phone number whose SIM remains exposed.
Verify the result
Refresh or reopen the session page after confirming the command. The removed device should no longer be an active authorization. If it remains listed briefly, check whether the client is showing cached information, then return to the page. A different entry with a new activity time can be a new login rather than the original session returning.
When removing an old device before giving it away, perform the termination while you still have a trusted session. Do not rely on factory-resetting the hardware alone: local erasure and Telegram’s server-side authorization are separate actions.
Terminate every other session
Use the Terminate all other sessions command only when you deliberately want to sign out every device except the one you are using. It is appropriate after a confirmed account takeover, a lost phone when you cannot identify the correct entry, or a complete device change.
Before confirming, make sure the current device is one you control and that you can complete Telegram’s sign-in process again if needed. The command signs out other phones, tablets, desktops and web sessions. It does not delete the account or remove cloud messages.
This command is not a substitute for protecting the number associated with Telegram. Someone who controls the SIM may still be able to request a new login code, so pair a broad session reset with Two-Step Verification and a carrier request to block or replace a compromised SIM.
Why Telegram may block termination for 24 hours
Telegram’s API reference for account.resetAuthorization documents an error named FRESH_RESET_AUTHORISATION_FORBIDDEN. It means a newly created login cannot log out other active sessions when fewer than 24 hours have passed since that login was created.

This restriction is an account-protection measure. If you sign in on a new device and immediately try to revoke an older one, Telegram may refuse even when your credentials are correct. The exact wording shown in the app can vary.

- [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by
What to do when the restriction appears
- Use a previously established Telegram session, if one is still available, to terminate the unwanted device.
- Otherwise, wait until the current login is at least 24 hours old and try again.
- During the waiting period, enable Two-Step Verification and secure your phone number with your carrier.
Do not repeatedly reinstall the app or create additional fresh logins expecting that to bypass the limit; a newly created session can remain subject to the same rule.
The restriction changes which device you should use, not which session you should remove. If an older phone or desktop is still signed in, use that established session to manage the list. If no established session remains, keep the new login active, protect the number and retry after the 24-hour window rather than abandoning the account.
What to do if your phone is lost or stolen
Act in two areas: revoke Telegram’s authorization and protect the telephone number that can receive login codes. The order depends on whether another Telegram session is already open.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhen Telegram is open on another device
- On the trusted device, open Settings > Privacy & Security and enable Two-Step Verification. Follow Telegram’s prompts to create the additional password.
- Open Settings > Devices, or Privacy & Security > Active Sessions.
- Select the stolen phone and terminate its session. If you cannot confidently identify it, use Terminate all other sessions only after confirming that the current device is the one you intend to keep.
- Contact your mobile carrier, ask it to block the old SIM and issue a replacement SIM with the same number.
- After the replacement is active, verify Telegram on your devices and review the session list again.
Two-Step Verification helps prevent a person who obtains a login code from completing access without the additional password. It does not replace termination of the stolen phone’s existing session.
If the stolen handset contained sensitive local files, account for that risk separately. Telegram session termination controls Telegram access; it cannot erase photographs, downloaded files or other data stored on the phone.
When no other Telegram session is available
- Contact your carrier immediately to block the stolen SIM and request a replacement with the same telephone number.
- Install Telegram on a device you control and sign in with that recovered number.
- Once the new session is established, open the session manager and terminate the old phone’s session.
- Enable Two-Step Verification.
Without access to the number or another authorized Telegram session, you may not be able to revoke the stolen phone immediately. Recovering the same number is therefore the necessary first step in this situation.
Remote-wipe option
If sensitive files or other local data are at risk, use the phone’s remote-wipe feature if you configured one before the theft. Remote wiping protects the handset’s stored data; it is not a substitute for terminating Telegram’s session. Telegram’s FAQ also presents remote wiping as an option when sensitive local information matters and remote access is unavailable.
If you change your telephone number
Telegram provides a number-change option in Settings. Update the number from inside the account rather than assuming that replacing the SIM automatically changes Telegram’s account number. Keep the old number protected until the account change is complete.

Logout, session termination and account deletion are different
| Action | What it affects | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Log out locally | Signs out the device where you perform the action. Cloud messages remain available when you sign in again. | It does not sign out another device. Secret Chats and their messages on that device are lost when you log out. |
| Terminate another session | Revokes access for the selected phone, tablet, computer or web session. | It does not delete the account or erase cloud history. |
| Terminate all other sessions | Signs out every authorized device except the one issuing the command. | It does not delete the account. |
| Delete the account | Permanently removes the Telegram account and is irreversible. | It is not a session-management tool and should not be used as a substitute for revoking one device. |
Telegram says most users do not need to log out merely to use the same account on another device. Keep local logout for situations where you specifically need to remove the account from that device.
Secret Chats require special care: they are tied to the devices on which they were created. Logging out locally removes those Secret Chats and their messages from that device, even though ordinary cloud conversations remain available after a later sign-in.

The list contains a device you cannot identify
Compare its activity time and operating system with your own devices, then terminate it if you still cannot account for it. Follow with Two-Step Verification and a carrier check for the phone number. Do not wait for certainty if the entry could be an old or unauthorized login.
Termination fails immediately after sign-in
Check whether the current login is less than 24 hours old. If so, use an older authorized session or wait for the restriction to expire. This is distinct from an incorrect password or a network failure.
A terminated device reappears
Review the list to determine whether it is a genuinely new session or the same device reconnecting under a changed label. If access continues to return, change or add Two-Step Verification, secure the SIM with your carrier and terminate every other session from a trusted, established login.
You are unsure whether to use the broad command
Ask whether you need to preserve access on any other device. If the answer is yes, terminate only the unwanted entry. If every other login should end, select Terminate all other sessions while staying on a device you control. The two controls have different scopes, so choosing the broad option for routine cleanup can create unnecessary sign-in work.

- Assuming several sessions mean a breach: simultaneous phone, tablet and desktop use is a normal Telegram arrangement.
- Deleting the account to remove one device: account deletion is irreversible and unnecessary for session cleanup.
- Confusing local logout with remote termination: logging out of your current phone does not sign out a different computer.
- Ignoring the SIM: Telegram access and control of the telephone number are related but separate security concerns.
- Using old screenshots as exact instructions: labels and menu placement can change between client versions.
- Relying on location alone: VPNs and mobile routing can make a familiar session look geographically unfamiliar.
- Repeatedly creating fresh logins: new sessions can remain subject to the 24-hour restriction.
A practical review routine
- Open the session manager every time you retire, sell or replace a device.
- Keep only devices you can name and physically control.
- Remove old entries individually instead of using the all-sessions command for routine housekeeping.
- After loss, theft or an unexplained entry, enable Two-Step Verification and address the SIM as well as Telegram’s device authorization.
- Recheck the list after recovering a number, changing a phone number or signing in on a replacement device.
A short review after each device change prevents the list from becoming a record of forgotten authorizations. Keep the current session clearly identifiable, and reserve the all-other-sessions command for situations where signing out every other device is intentional.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I see what devices are logged in to Telegram?
Open Telegram and go to Settings > Devices. If your client uses different wording, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Active Sessions. The page lists authorized phones, tablets, computers and web sessions.
How do I log out of Telegram on another device?
From a trusted Telegram session, open Devices or Active Sessions, select the other device and choose Terminate session or Log out. Confirm the action and check that the entry is no longer active.
Should I terminate every Telegram session I see?
No. Multiple sessions are normal. Leave devices you still control authorized and terminate only an old, sold, lost or unfamiliar device unless you deliberately want to sign out every other device.

One-click scans. No signup required.
Why can’t Telegram terminate a session right after I sign in?
Telegram can restrict a newly created login from logging out other sessions for the first 24 hours. Use an older authorized session if available, or wait until the new session is at least 24 hours old.
What should I do if my phone with Telegram was stolen?
If Telegram is open elsewhere, enable Two-Step Verification, terminate the stolen phone’s session, and ask your carrier to block the old SIM and issue a replacement with the same number. If no other session is available, recover the number first, sign in, terminate the old session and enable Two-Step Verification.
Does terminating a Telegram session delete messages or the account?
No. Termination revokes access for that device. It does not delete the account or cloud conversations. Account deletion is a separate, irreversible action.
What happens to Secret Chats when I log out?
Telegram says local logout removes Secret Chats and their messages from that device. Ordinary cloud messages remain available when you sign in again.

No. Remote wiping protects local handset data. You should still terminate the Telegram session and protect or replace the SIM.
The Bottom Line
Use Settings > Devices or Privacy & Security > Active Sessions to review Telegram access. Terminate one unwanted device for routine cleanup; use Terminate all other sessions only when you intend to sign out every other login. If a new login is blocked from revoking sessions, use an established session or wait 24 hours. After a lost or stolen phone, secure the SIM, enable Two-Step Verification and revoke the old session.
