Short answer: Meta’s public announcement and developer documentation describe Active Memory and Active Focus, but do not document a menu path, memory list, edit or delete control, disable switch, or adjustment workflow for either capability. As of Meta’s October 12, 2026 launch announcement, you can verify what the features are and which Muse access route you use, but you should not assume that a user-facing settings panel exists or that general Muse permissions manage these capabilities.
What Meta’s two capabilities mean
Active Memory and Active Focus are descriptions of how Meta says its Muse Wonder models can behave during longer-running work. They are not presented in the available official material as two ordinary preferences with documented on/off controls.

Active Memory
Meta defines Active Memory as carrying important context about a person between conversations and retrieving details that are relevant to the task at hand. In Meta’s October 12, 2026 announcement, the company described it as “the ability to carry what matters to you across conversations and bring back the details that are relevant to the task at hand.”
That wording describes a model capability: the system may retain context and bring it back when it appears useful. It does not establish what information is retained, how long it is retained, where a user can see it, or whether a user can correct or remove an individual item.

Active Focus
Active Focus describes persistence and adaptation while a task is under way. Meta says the models can keep working toward a goal when a task becomes difficult, try other approaches, recover from errors, ask for clarification when needed, and check in before following through on something important.
This is a behavior description rather than a documented “focus level” control. The available announcement does not identify a slider, mode selector, timeout value, or setting that lets a user tune how aggressively the model continues.
Active Memory and Active Focus compared
| Dimension | Active Memory | Active Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | Carry important personal or task context between conversations and retrieve relevant details. | Continue pursuing a difficult goal, adapt after setbacks, and seek clarification or confirmation when needed. |
| Typical behavior described by Meta | Recall a detail from an earlier conversation when it appears relevant to current work. | Try another approach after an error, keep working through a blocker, or pause for a question before an important step. |
| What it is not documented as | A visible memory inventory, retention-period selector, or item-by-item editor. | A persistence slider, retry limit, autonomy mode, or global focus switch. |
| Documented user control | No review, edit, deletion, or disable workflow is identified in Meta’s announcement or developer pages. | No adjustment workflow or setting location is identified in those materials. |
The distinction matters when interpreting a product screen. A control that changes what an agent may do is not automatically a control over what context it can retain. Likewise, a prompt that asks for confirmation before an action is not proof that a global Active Focus parameter has changed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat you can and cannot currently verify
| Question | What the official material establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| What is Active Memory? | Context can be carried between conversations and relevant details can be retrieved for a task. | A visible memory inventory, retention period, source-attribution view, or correction workflow. |
| What is Active Focus? | The model is intended to pursue difficult goals, adapt after errors, and ask for clarification or confirmation when appropriate. | A user-facing focus setting, intensity control, pause command, or configuration screen. |
| Can I review remembered details? | No review procedure is documented in the sources available. | That no such feature exists; only that its location and operation are not confirmed. |
| Can I edit or delete a memory? | No edit or deletion steps are documented. | The existence, scope, or permanence of any underlying memory store. |
| Can I disable Active Memory? | No on/off control or location is identified. | Whether a control may appear later, vary by account, or be available only in a particular product surface. |
| Can I change Active Focus? | No adjustment workflow is documented. | Whether prompting can influence behavior in a particular implementation or whether a formal setting will be added. |
These are documentation limits, not proof that controls are absent. Meta’s launch and developer pages explain the capabilities and access routes, but they do not provide the click-by-click instructions needed to make a settings claim.
Why a normal settings guide would be misleading
A conventional how-to article would need an exact interface path such as a product name, account menu, privacy page, and control label. None of those steps is specified for Active Memory or Active Focus in the available official material. Inventing a path would risk sending users to a page that does not exist or suggesting that a permission control has a broader effect than Meta documents.
The same caution applies to assumptions about words such as “memory,” “personalization,” “autonomy,” or “focus” appearing in another Muse product. Similar labels do not prove that they expose Muse Wonder’s internal context or task-persistence behavior.
There is also no basis for treating model access itself as evidence of a settings interface. An API can expose a model without exposing its internal context records, and a subscription can provide a coding-agent experience without adding account-level switches. The announcement and developer pages do not identify a memory endpoint, a deletion command, a focus parameter, or an administrative policy for either capability.

If you have access to Muse Wonder, Muse Wonder Full, Muse Code, or a later Muse experience, use this evidence-based process. It helps you distinguish a genuinely available control from a description of model behavior.
- Identify the product surface. Note whether you are using an application, a Muse Code subscription, or the Meta Model API. Record the account type, model name, and date, because availability is rolling out and labels can change.
- Use the current official documentation for that surface. Look for a help or settings page that explicitly names Active Memory or Active Focus. A generic page about Muse agents is not enough unless it says what the control changes.
- Read the control’s scope before changing anything. If a setting appears, check whether it applies to one conversation, a project, an account, connected services, or every Muse experience. Look for retention, deletion, and confirmation language.
- Separate a permission from a memory control. A switch allowing an agent to act, connect to a service, or request approval may limit actions without changing what context the model retains or how it pursues a goal.
- Test only with non-sensitive information. If you are investigating whether context carries between conversations, use a harmless fact that you would not mind disclosing. Do not use passwords, financial data, health information, confidential work material, or another person’s personal details as a test marker.
- Document what you actually observe. Capture the exact label, scope, confirmation text, and resulting behavior. If a setting is absent, record the product surface and account type rather than concluding that the feature can never be controlled.
- Ask official support a narrowly framed question. Request the documented path for reviewing, correcting, deleting, or disabling Active Memory, and separately ask whether Active Focus has any user-adjustable control. Ask which products, regions, and subscription tiers the answer covers.
Do not treat a successful recall test as a complete audit. A response that repeats a fact could reflect the current conversation, an account-level context mechanism, a connected service, or ordinary inference. Only an interface or policy that explicitly identifies the source and scope can establish how a particular detail is handled.

What to do for each requested settings task
Review specific remembered details
No official source currently shows a memory dashboard, list, search function, or explanation of why a particular detail was retrieved. Until Meta publishes such a view, treat any apparent recall as model output rather than proof that you can inspect an authoritative record.
If an answer contains an incorrect personal detail, correct it in the conversation and verify later responses, but do not describe that exchange as a confirmed memory-edit operation. A conversational correction may influence the current task; the public material does not say that it permanently updates or removes a stored item.
Recommended Free Tools
Change or delete a memory
There is no verified edit or delete workflow to follow. Do not substitute deletion of a conversation, revoking a connected service, or removing an action permission unless Meta’s own interface explicitly says that the operation also changes Active Memory. Those actions can have different scopes.
For sensitive work, the practical interim measure is to avoid placing unnecessary personal or confidential information into a Muse session and to keep separate tasks in separate conversations where that organization helps you. This reduces what you voluntarily provide; it is not a confirmed memory-erasure method.
Disable Active Memory
The reviewed announcement and developer material do not confirm an Active Memory switch or identify where one would be located. If your account displays a setting with that exact name, read its scope and retention explanation before using it. If it does not, there is no documented procedure that can be stated reliably.
Change Active Focus
No documented control changes the persistence, retry behavior, clarification behavior, or confirmation policy described as Active Focus. You can state constraints in a task—for example, requiring the system to ask before an external action—but that is an instruction for a particular interaction, not evidence of a global Active Focus setting.
Similarly, stopping a task, closing an application, or ending an API request may stop that execution. Meta’s descriptions do not say that any of those actions change a model-wide focus configuration or alter context retained for later conversations.
Do Muse approvals and connection permissions manage memory or focus?
Meta’s separate Muse product information discusses controls for agent actions, approval and review of activity, and permissions for connected services. Those controls are about what an agent may do and which services it may access.
The material does not say that those controls expose Active Memory records, delete remembered context, or configure Active Focus. A user who revokes a connection may prevent a particular action or data access while leaving the model-capability descriptions unchanged. Keep the two categories separate when evaluating a setting or asking support for help.

Access routes and timing
Meta announced Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full on October 12, 2026. The announcement said Muse Wonder was available through the Meta Model API and Muse Code, with plans to power additional Muse experiences later and an initial rollout to subscribers. Meta’s developer material lists Muse Wonder Full as a Muse Code subscription offering.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Route | What is established | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Model API | The launch announcement identified it as an access route for Muse Wonder. | That API users receive a memory browser, deletion endpoint, or focus configuration parameter. |
| Muse Code | Meta’s developer material lists Muse Wonder Full as a subscription offering. | That the subscription includes end-user controls for either capability. |
| Later Muse experiences | Meta said the models would later power more Muse experiences. | That a later surface has the same controls, labels, retention rules, or availability as the launch routes. |
Because these availability details are recent and subject to change, check the live official product and developer pages for your account before relying on a launch-era description. Access to a model is not evidence that memory-management controls are included.
If you cannot find a control, check these possibilities
- Wrong product surface: You may be reading documentation for a general Muse agent while using an API or coding-agent route with different capabilities.
- Rollout timing: The announcement described an initial subscriber rollout and later expansion. A feature may not be present in every account or experience at the same time.
- Different terminology: A product may describe privacy, context, or approvals without using the names Active Memory or Active Focus. Do not infer equivalence without explicit scope.
- Documentation lag: A newly launched capability can be described publicly before detailed help pages are published. Treat an undocumented control as unverified rather than improvising instructions.
- Permission versus configuration: An approval prompt or connection switch may affect actions, not the model’s retained context or persistence strategy.
- Account or region differences: If support confirms a control, ask whether it applies to your country, subscription, organization account, and model version.
- Model-version differences: A label can appear for one Muse model or release while another route exposes only the underlying capability. Record the exact model name when reporting what you see.
- Organization administration: A workplace administrator may control access to an application or connection without giving individual users a memory-inspection tool. Confirm who owns each setting before assuming it is personal.
Questions to ask before trusting a claimed memory setting
If you encounter a control in a current interface, its value depends on the details around it. Look for answers to these questions:
- Does it show the actual remembered items, or only a broad personalization preference?
- Can each item be corrected and deleted, and is deletion confirmed?
- Does disabling the feature stop new retention, remove existing data, or both?
- What happens to memories created in earlier conversations, API calls, or other Muse experiences?
- Is the change immediate, and does it apply to already-running tasks?
- Can the system explain which remembered detail influenced an answer?
- Is Active Focus affected at all, or is the control limited to context retention?
- What data remains in logs, exports, backups, or connected services after a memory item is deleted?
These questions are an evaluation checklist, not a claim that Meta currently provides each capability.
How to phrase a support request
A precise request is more useful than asking generally whether Muse has “memory settings.” Identify the surface and model, then ask separate questions: Where can I review individual Active Memory items? Can I correct or delete one? Does disabling retention remove existing items? Is there an Active Focus control for retries, continuation, clarification, or confirmation? Which account types, regions, and subscription tiers are covered?

Do not send passwords, confidential prompts, or personal records merely to demonstrate the issue.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Practical safeguards while controls remain undocumented
Use the minimum information needed for a task. Remove identifiers from examples, avoid pasting secrets, and obtain permission before including someone else’s personal data. For consequential work, review the model’s output and require confirmation before an external or irreversible action.
Keep a human record of important decisions instead of relying on the model to remember a preference indefinitely. If continuity matters, restate the relevant constraints at the start of a new task so the work does not depend on an undocumented retention behavior.
These practices improve predictability and reduce exposure, but they do not change Meta’s implementation or substitute for a documented delete or disable control.

Frequently asked questions
Is Active Memory the same as a memory list I can edit?
No. Meta describes carrying and retrieving relevant context, but its October 12, 2026 announcement and developer descriptions do not show a user-facing list, item editor, or deletion workflow.
Does Active Focus mean I can set a higher or lower focus level?
No documented level, slider, timeout, or mode selector is identified. Active Focus is Meta’s description of persistence, adaptation, clarification, and confirmation behavior.
Can deleting a conversation erase Active Memory?
Meta’s public descriptions do not establish that relationship. Do not claim deletion unless the current interface explicitly states that deleting the conversation also removes retained context.
Can I turn off Active Memory in Muse Code?
The developer material identifies Muse Code as an access route and lists Muse Wonder Full as a subscription offering, but it does not identify an Active Memory switch. Check the current product documentation or ask support for your account and model.
Does the Meta Model API provide a memory-delete endpoint?
The launch announcement identifies the API as an access route, not as proof of a memory browser, deletion endpoint, or focus parameter. No such control is documented in the material described here.
Do approval prompts control Active Focus?
Approval and activity-review controls concern agent actions. They may require confirmation before an operation, but Meta does not say that they configure the broader Active Focus behavior.
How can I safely test whether context carries between chats?
Use a harmless fact that you would not mind disclosing, never a password, financial detail, health information, confidential work material, or another person’s personal data. Record the exact product surface and do not treat recall alone as proof of a particular storage mechanism.
Why might another user see a setting I do not?
Meta described an initial subscriber rollout and later expansion. Product surface, account type, region, organization policy, and model version can affect what is shown. Ask support which conditions apply before drawing a general conclusion.
