Soulmask’s documented refill items are Sunstone (Not enough energy), which restores 100 energy; Sunstone (Lost energy), which restores 200; Sunstone (Enough energy), which restores 500; and the Energy-gathering Crystal, which holds 10,000 energy and subtracts what you use instead of disappearing after one refill.

If your bar seems to be falling immediately, stop any energy-draining mimicry ability before refilling. Also budget for portal travel: moving between two linked portals costs 100 Mask Energy. Capacity and efficiency upgrades make refills last longer, but they do not replace a Sunstone when the current mask is empty.

What restores Mask Energy in Soulmask?
The documented way to replenish a mask is to use a Sunstone item from your inventory. The Soulmask Wiki describes Sunstones as items used to replenish mask energy, with several versions distinguished by the amount returned. The refill applies to the mask you currently have equipped, so check which mask is active before using the item.
The item references available for Soulmask list four useful tiers. Three are ordinary Sunstones with fixed one-time amounts, while the Energy-gathering Crystal is a large reserve that is reduced by the energy you spend. The entries are undated, so item names or values could differ on a server running a different game build; treat the names below as the documented baseline and verify the tooltip in your client.

Documented refill items
| Item | Energy returned or stored | Consumed after use? | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunstone (Not enough energy) | 100 energy | Ordinary Sunstone refill; plan it as a one-use item | Emergency top-up or a single short activity |
| Sunstone (Lost energy) | 200 energy | Ordinary Sunstone refill; plan it as a one-use item | Medium refill when the bar is low |
| Sunstone (Enough energy) | 500 energy | Ordinary Sunstone refill; plan it as a one-use item | Larger refill before travel or a long expedition |
| Energy-gathering Crystal | 10,000 energy in its reserve | No. Used energy is subtracted from its total rather than consuming the crystal outright | Long trips and repeated refills when you can carry a high-capacity reserve |
The 200-energy item is the clearest mid-size option: its item description says that Sunstone (Lost energy) recovers 200 Energy for the current mask. The 100- and 500-energy values come from the corresponding Sunstone entries. The Energy-gathering Crystal is not simply a 10,000-point instant refill that vanishes; it functions as a reserve whose remaining amount decreases as you draw from it.
How to refill your mask, step by step
- Check the active mask. Open the mask-energy display and confirm that the mask you intend to use is the current one. The documented 200-energy description specifically applies to the current mask, so do not assume a refill will charge an unequipped mask.
- Stop avoidable drains. If a mimicry ability is running, end it before you refill. The Civilization mask reference says its healing ability continues to use mask energy until the energy is depleted or the ability is stopped. Refilling while that ability remains active can make the new energy disappear immediately.
- Open your inventory. Locate the Sunstone tier or Energy-gathering Crystal you prepared. Read the item tooltip rather than relying only on its name if your server has modified item text.
- Use the item. Activate the Sunstone from the inventory using the normal consume or use command shown by your interface. Select the 200-energy item for a documented medium refill, a 500-energy item when you need more headroom, or the crystal when you want to draw from its larger reserve.
- Watch the mask-energy bar. Confirm that the current mask’s value rises and that the item’s remaining quantity or reserve changes as expected. A normal Sunstone should provide its listed amount; the crystal should retain a reduced balance rather than disappear after one activation.
- Recheck before leaving safety. Account for your next portal trip, active abilities and any other planned energy use. A refill that looks sufficient in camp may be inadequate once a 100-energy teleport cost or a continuously draining ability is included.
If the bar does not change, first verify that you used an item rather than merely highlighted it, that the mask is the intended current mask, and that the item has not been altered by a server-specific configuration. Then test again with an ordinary Sunstone and no active mimicry ability.

Which refill should you carry?
Choose by the amount you need, whether you want a disposable item or a persistent reserve, and how much preparation you can do before leaving. There is no documented requirement to use a particular tier for a particular activity; the practical difference is the energy amount and the crystal’s non-consumable reserve behavior.
For an emergency top-up
The 100-energy Sunstone (Not enough energy) is the smallest documented refill. It is useful when a short action or a single portal trip is the only remaining expense. Do not mistake the name for a condition that automatically triggers recovery: it is an item label, not evidence of passive regeneration.
For a predictable medium gap
Sunstone (Lost energy) returns 200 energy to the current mask. It is the most clearly documented choice when you can estimate that a moderate amount is missing but do not want to spend a larger refill. Keep the item available before starting an activity that could leave you stranded away from a portal.

For a larger buffer
Sunstone (Enough energy) provides 500 energy. Use it when you expect several expenses in one outing or want more room before your next inventory stop. The 500 figure is the item’s documented return, not a claim that every mask has a 500-point capacity or that the bar will always accept the full amount; your current capacity and remaining energy determine how much headroom is available.

For repeated or long-distance use
The Energy-gathering Crystal stores 10,000 energy. Its description says that used energy is subtracted from the stored total instead of consuming the crystal outright. That makes it the long-trip option when you expect multiple drains and can prepare a large reserve. Track the crystal’s remaining total after each use so that a seemingly full reserve does not become an unexpected zero later.
How portal travel affects your refill plan
Two linked portals let you teleport between them, and the documented portal entry specifies a cost of 100 Mask Energy for that travel. Treat every planned teleport as a fixed 100-energy deduction when deciding what to carry.
Before leaving a portal hub
- Note how many portal trips you expect to make, including the return trip.
- Reserve at least 100 energy for each planned movement between linked portals.
- Carry a Sunstone whose value covers the shortfall instead of assuming the portal will provide energy on arrival.
- If a mimicry ability will remain active during travel or at the destination, add that ongoing drain to your buffer; the portal’s 100-energy fee is only the documented travel cost.
For example, a 200-energy Sunstone can cover one 100-energy portal trip and leave a nominal 100-energy balance for other uses, provided your mask has enough capacity to accept the refill and no ability drains energy during the trip. That is an arithmetic planning example, not a guarantee of the mask’s base capacity or of any undocumented travel fees.
Why mimicry abilities can make energy look as if it is not recovering
A refill can work correctly while the bar continues to fall if an ability is consuming energy at the same time. The Civilization mask reference gives a specific case: its healing ability uses mask energy until the energy is depleted or the ability is stopped. Because the drain is continuous, activating a Sunstone without ending the ability may produce only a brief rise or no visible improvement.

Safe sequence for an active ability
- Stop the healing or other energy-consuming mimicry ability.
- Wait for the ability’s effect to end according to the on-screen state.
- Use the Sunstone or crystal on the current mask.
- Confirm that the bar remains stable for a moment.
- Reactivate the ability only after deciding how much of the refill you are willing to spend.
This sequence separates a failed item use from normal consumption. If the bar rises and then declines only after the ability is restarted, the refill was applied and the ability is the source of the continuing loss.
Increase capacity with Energy Unit nodes
Energy Unit nodes improve how much energy a mask can hold. The Masks reference lists five ranks and their documented capacity increases:
| Energy Unit rank | Additional storage capacity | What the upgrade changes |
|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | +200 | Raises the mask’s maximum storage |
| Rank 2 | +400 | Raises the mask’s maximum storage |
| Rank 3 | +600 | Raises the mask’s maximum storage |
| Rank 4 | +900 | Raises the mask’s maximum storage |
| Rank 5 | +1,200 | Raises the mask’s maximum storage |
These values describe added capacity, not energy granted immediately. Repairing a node does not refill an empty bar. After increasing capacity, you still need to use a Sunstone or draw from an Energy-gathering Crystal to put energy into the mask.
Capacity versus refill size
Capacity determines how much energy can be held; a refill item determines how much energy you attempt to add. If your current mask cannot accept the entire amount because it is near maximum, the unused portion should not be treated as a new energy source. Check the bar after use and plan the timing of larger Sunstones around available headroom.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHigher capacity is most useful when an activity has several separate expenses. It lets you start with a larger reserve, but it does not make portal travel free and does not stop a continuously active healing ability from consuming energy.

Reduce ordinary consumption with the Mask Interface Module
Repairing the Mask Interface Module reduces common energy consumption by 5%, according to the Masks reference. This is an efficiency improvement: it lowers qualifying ongoing or routine costs rather than adding a fixed amount to the bar.
What the 5% reduction does not do
- It does not restore energy that has already been spent.
- It does not replace a Sunstone when the mask is empty.
- It does not establish that every energy cost, including the documented 100-energy portal fee, is reduced; the reference describes the effect as common energy-consumption reduction.
- It does not stop the Civilization healing ability. That ability still uses mask energy while active.
Think of the module as a way to stretch each refill, while Energy Unit nodes provide room to store more. You may benefit from both, but neither is a substitute for carrying a refill item.

Why your mask energy may not be recovering
You are expecting passive regeneration
The documented item and mask references identify Sunstones as the refill method but do not establish an automatic, time-based recharge. If the bar remains low while you wait, use a documented Sunstone and observe the result rather than assuming that standing still will restore it.
An ability is still active
Check for the Civilization healing ability or another mimicry effect that consumes energy continuously. Stop it, refill, and watch whether the bar remains stable before reactivating the effect.
You just used a portal
Linked-portal travel costs 100 Mask Energy. A drop of exactly that size after teleporting is consistent with the documented travel cost, not evidence that the refill failed. Include the fee when choosing a Sunstone tier.
Best Value
You repaired an upgrade but did not refill
Energy Unit nodes add storage capacity, and the Mask Interface Module cuts common consumption by 5%. Both are improvements to capacity or efficiency. Neither one deposits energy into the bar, so use a Sunstone or crystal after the repair if the mask is still low.
You used the wrong mask
The 200-energy item is described as recovering energy for the current mask. Confirm which mask is active and look for the increase on that mask’s display. Switching masks after the refill can make it appear that the item affected the wrong target.
Your server uses different mechanics
Item references are undated, and community servers or later builds may alter names, values or behavior. Compare the in-game tooltip with the documented 100, 200, 500 and 10,000 figures. If the tooltip differs, follow the live game text for that server and record the exact item name before reporting a bug.
What about energy orbs, wells and potions?
One commercial guide claims that players can restore energy with energy orbs, energy wells and energy potions, and that wells can refill the bar to maximum. The specific Sunstone and Masks references do not corroborate those mechanics. Treat those objects as unverified or potentially version- or server-specific rather than as guaranteed instructions for Soulmask.
Do not abandon a documented Sunstone because an unverified guide promises a free full refill. First test the item names and interactions in your own build. If a well, orb or potion exists on your server, check its tooltip, note whether it changes the current mask, and verify whether it consumes an item or uses a separate reserve. Without matching documentation, its behavior should not be generalized to every Soulmask installation.
A practical preparation checklist
- Before an expedition: inspect the current mask’s bar and carry at least one appropriate Sunstone or an Energy-gathering Crystal with a known remaining balance.
- Before portal travel: reserve 100 Mask Energy for each planned movement between linked portals.
- Before healing: decide whether the Civilization healing ability can remain active and bring enough reserve for its continuing drain.
- After repairing Energy Unit nodes: refill the larger capacity; the upgrade itself does not provide energy.
- After repairing the Mask Interface Module: expect a 5% reduction in common consumption, not an instant recharge.
- When the bar behaves unexpectedly: stop active abilities, use a documented Sunstone on the current mask, and compare the resulting bar and inventory state with the item tooltip.
Understanding the numbers without overestimating them
The values 100, 200, 500 and 10,000 describe documented item amounts. They are not a complete specification of every mask’s maximum capacity, every ability’s drain rate or every possible travel cost. Capacity depends on the mask and its repaired Energy Unit nodes; ongoing abilities consume according to their own behavior; and the portal reference supplies the specific 100-energy travel fee.
Likewise, the 5% Mask Interface Module effect is an efficiency modifier, not a universal promise that every cost is reduced. Keep the categories separate when planning: refill amount comes from the item, maximum storage comes from Energy Unit nodes, common-consumption efficiency comes from the Interface Module, and continuous ability drain depends on whether the ability remains active.
Can a physical product recharge Mask Energy?
No. Mask Energy, Sunstones, Energy Unit nodes and the Energy-gathering Crystal are virtual Soulmask resources. A physical item sold outside the game cannot replenish the in-game bar. Use the game’s inventory items and mask upgrades instead.
