Start by confirming which Al Jazeera app you use and who billed you. Al Jazeera News and Al Jazeera 360 are separate store listings, so an entitlement from one should not be assumed to unlock the other. Then use the recovery route for Apple, Google Play, or the provider shown on your receipt. Apple purchases may be recoverable with an in-app restore option; Google Play cancellations may show Resubscribe. If the correct account and purchase still are not recognized, contact Al Jazeera app support with your receipt and app details.
1. Confirm which Al Jazeera app you are trying to open
The first check prevents most failed recovery attempts. Look at the app name on your phone and compare it with the name on the store receipt or subscription record.

If the receipt says Al Jazeera 360 but you are signing in to Al Jazeera News, or the other way around, reinstalling the app or repeating a restore will not resolve the mismatch. Open the exact app named on the purchase record before you continue.

2. Determine who billed the subscription
“The subscription ended” can describe several different situations: a plan was canceled but is still eligible for renewal, a billing period actually expired, or the app has lost access to a purchase that is still valid. The billing provider controls the account record and the available recovery buttons.

- Apple billing: The receipt or Apple purchase history identifies an Apple Account. Recovery is performed from the app and that same Apple Account.
- Google Play billing: The subscription appears on the Google Account used to buy it. Google Play may offer Resubscribe for a canceled plan.
- Direct or another provider: Use the company named on the receipt. The available material does not identify a universal Al Jazeera direct-billing workflow, so do not substitute Apple or Google steps for it.
Search the email account you normally use for purchase confirmations and look for the app name, an order or transaction number, the platform name, and the account address. Do not rely only on the email currently signed in on your phone: a family member, an older account, or a second store account may have made the purchase.
3. Restore an Apple-billed purchase
Apple says eligible in-app purchases can be restored from an option inside the app. Restoration is not a guarantee for every subscription, plan, or app configuration, so the correct account and app still matter.
- Open the exact Al Jazeera app named on your Apple receipt.
- Open the app’s account, settings, subscription, or paywall area and look for a Restore or Restore Purchases option. The wording and location can vary by app version.
- When prompted, make sure the device is signed in to the same Apple Account that completed the original purchase. A different Apple Account cannot normally retrieve that purchase history.
- Run the restore and wait for the app to finish checking the store account. Keep the app open until it reports success, a restored entitlement, or an error.
- Close and reopen the app, then test the content that was previously included. If the app offers multiple services, verify that you restored the product belonging to this exact Al Jazeera app.
If Apple charged you but the app remains locked
Keep the Apple receipt and note the app name, the Apple Account used, the date of the charge, and any transaction identifier. Apple’s guidance is to contact the developer when you were charged but restoration does not work. Contact Al Jazeera app support rather than buying the plan again immediately; a second purchase can create a duplicate charge without fixing an account or app mismatch.

4. Recover a Google Play subscription
Google ties the subscription to the Google Account that purchased it. Open Google Play’s Subscriptions page while signed in to that account; the app’s local login alone is not enough to identify the store entitlement.
- Open Google Play and switch to the Google Account that appears on the original purchase receipt.
- Open the account menu and choose Subscriptions. Find the Al Jazeera subscription and read its current status.
- If the canceled subscription has a Resubscribe option, select it and follow Google Play’s confirmation steps. Google says some canceled subscriptions can be restarted this way; availability depends on the subscription record.
- After Google confirms the subscription, return to the exact Al Jazeera app, sign in if it asks, and allow the app to refresh its entitlement.
- If the plan is listed but the app still does not unlock, record the order number and contact Al Jazeera support instead of repeating the purchase.
When the subscription is missing
Google notes that a missing subscription may belong to another Google Account. Check every account you have used on the device, especially the account shown on the receipt. If the plan is not listed under any of them, search the receipt for a different billing provider or a different app name.
When “Resubscribe” is absent
Google says the subscription may need to be set up again when the resubscription choice is unavailable. Before starting a new purchase, verify the app name, account, and cancellation status. A new subscription may be a new entitlement rather than a restoration of the old one, and the available plan can depend on what the store currently offers in your region.

- App mismatch: Compare the installed app with the receipt. Al Jazeera News and Al Jazeera 360 are separate listings.
- Store-account mismatch: Apple restoration requires the purchasing Apple Account. Google subscriptions belong to the purchasing Google Account.
- Wrong status: A canceled Google plan may still show a resubscription choice, while an expired plan may require a new setup.
- Stale app state: After a successful store action, close and reopen the app and sign in again if prompted. This refreshes the app’s check without creating another charge.
- Unverified billing route: If the receipt names a direct or other provider, use that provider’s account controls and include the receipt when asking Al Jazeera for help.
The Apple App Store listing describes Al Jazeera News as free, and its Google Play listing highlights news, live streams, on-demand reporting and alerts. Those descriptions do not establish that every feature is free in every country or app version, but they do mean an access problem is not automatically proof of an expired paid subscription. Check whether the problem affects free news content, a live channel, an archive, or a feature tied to a particular plan.
6. Contact Al Jazeera app support with enough information to trace the purchase
Developer support is the escalation path when the correct store account and recovery action do not restore access. The Google Play listing for Al Jazeera News provides these support addresses:
In your message, include:
- The exact app name: Al Jazeera News or Al Jazeera 360.
- Your device platform: Apple or Android.
- The email address for the purchasing Apple Account or Google Account, without sending your password.
- The store receipt, order number, transaction identifier, purchase date and the product name shown on the receipt.
- Whether the subscription is shown as active, canceled, expired, or missing in the store’s subscription page.
- What you tried: in-app restore, Google Play Resubscribe, account switching, and reopening the app.
- The exact error message or a screenshot with payment details and other private information redacted.
Support can investigate an entitlement mismatch more effectively when the app and store product are named precisely. Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers, security codes, or unrelated personal documents.

7. Keep account recovery separate from a password reset
Al Jazeera’s Digital Content Catalogue exposes a password-reset page, but the available information does not establish that this account system is used by either mobile app. Treat a catalogue password reset as a separate login issue unless Al Jazeera support confirms that it controls the account for your app.

A password reset can help when you cannot sign in to an app account, but it does not by itself restore an Apple or Google store entitlement. Conversely, a successful store restore will not necessarily fix an incorrect app login. Tell support which problem you have: store purchase not recognized, app account inaccessible, or both.

9. Troubleshooting by symptom
“I paid, but Restore Purchases finds nothing.”
Confirm that you opened the app named on the receipt and that the device uses the purchasing Apple Account. If both are correct, preserve the receipt and contact the developer; Apple specifically directs charged users to the developer when restoration fails.
“Google Play shows the subscription, but the app still asks me to subscribe.”
Check whether Google shows the plan as active, then reopen the exact app associated with the purchase. If the entitlement still is not recognized, send support the Google order number, account email and app name. Do not buy a second plan before support checks the first record.
“I cannot find the subscription in Google Play.”
Switch through the Google Accounts used on the device and compare each one with the receipt. If none contains the plan, the purchase may have used another provider or a different Al Jazeera app.
“The app is free, so why am I seeing a subscription screen?”
The Apple listing labels Al Jazeera News “Free,” but store labels do not prove that every feature, region or version has identical access. Identify the specific feature that is blocked and check whether the screen names Al Jazeera News or Al Jazeera 360. A subscription prompt for one service does not establish that all news and live content require payment.
“I changed phones and lost access.”
Changing devices does not change which store account owns a purchase. On the new device, use the original Apple Account or Google Account, install the exact app named on the receipt, and then run the platform’s restore or resubscribe process. If the old device used a different account, recover that account first.
“I canceled the plan but want it back.”
For Google Play, check whether Resubscribe appears on the subscription record. If it does not, Google says the subscription may need to be set up again. For Apple, look for the in-app restore option when the purchase is eligible; restoration and purchasing a new plan are separate outcomes.
10. What to have ready before contacting support
A short, complete case usually gets a more useful response than a message that only says “my subscription expired.” Assemble these items first:
- Write the exact app name as displayed in the store.
- Identify Apple, Google Play, or another billing provider from the receipt.
- Copy the order or transaction number and purchase date.
- Record the account email used for that purchase.
- Describe whether the subscription is active, canceled, expired, or absent from the platform’s subscription page.
- List the recovery action you attempted and the resulting message.
- Redact passwords, full card numbers and security codes from screenshots.
This information lets support distinguish a wrong-app problem from a wrong-account problem, a store-status problem, or an entitlement that needs investigation.
11. The shortest reliable path
For most cases, the sequence is simple: match the receipt to Al Jazeera News or Al Jazeera 360; identify Apple, Google Play or another biller; use the purchasing account; run Apple’s in-app restore or check Google Play for Resubscribe; then contact Al Jazeera support if the confirmed purchase is still not recognized. Keep the receipt attached to every escalation and avoid paying twice until the original entitlement has been checked.
