In OBS Studio, turn on Settings → Output → Automatically Reconnect, then configure Retry Delay and Maximum Retries. This makes OBS try to reconnect its encoder feed after an interruption; it does not guarantee YouTube will resume the same broadcast or that viewers will see uninterrupted playback. After a reconnect, verify the stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and on its viewing page.
Set OBS to reconnect after a disconnect
- Open OBS settings. In OBS Studio, select Settings, then Output.
- Enable automatic reconnect. Turn on Automatically Reconnect.
- Set the retry controls. Choose a Retry Delay and Maximum Retries that suit your setup. OBS documents that retry intervals double on successive attempts to avoid overloading streaming services. A maximum retry count of zero disables reconnecting. There is no universal retry count established here as a YouTube recommendation.
- Apply the settings and test them. Confirm OBS can reconnect in a controlled test before relying on it for an unattended bhajan stream.
These settings address OBS’s attempt to restore its encoder connection. They do not establish that YouTube kept the broadcast active or that the stream has resumed for viewers.
Check YouTube’s broadcast controls separately
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, inspect the stream’s Auto-start & auto-stop options. These are YouTube broadcast controls, separate from OBS’s automatic reconnect setting. When enabled, YouTube says streaming can be started or stopped from the encoder. Understand how those options affect your particular broadcast before depending on reconnect behavior.
Verify the stream after OBS reconnects
- Check OBS for a successful reconnection rather than assuming that a retry attempt worked.
- In Live Control Room, confirm that YouTube is receiving the encoder feed and inspect the preview and stream status.
- Open the public or unlisted viewing page and confirm that it plays as expected.
- Monitor audio and video. For a bhajan stream, confirm that the audio is present and that the image is not frozen or stalled.
A restored encoder connection is not proof that the same YouTube broadcast resumed. Check both the control-room feed and the viewer-facing player.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If automatic reconnect does not restore the broadcast
OBS keeps retrying but YouTube is not receiving the feed
Check the network connection and OBS output status, then verify the stream status in Live Control Room. If OBS cannot establish the encoder connection, YouTube’s encoder-start troubleshooting advises copying the stream key from Live Control Room and pasting it into the encoder. Treat the stream key as a secret: do not share it publicly.
You connect by signing in rather than entering a stream key
If the encoder uses account login instead of a stream key, YouTube’s guidance is to contact that software’s support team. The exact reconnect controls and their behavior vary by encoder, so do not assume another program uses OBS’s setting names.

The broadcast stopped even though OBS reconnected
Review the stream’s Auto-start & auto-stop settings and confirm the current event status in Live Control Room. OBS reconnect attempts and YouTube’s decisions about the broadcast are separate; a successful OBS connection alone cannot establish that the event is live again.
For higher continuity, test a backup encoder
A backup encoder is a more involved option than enabling reconnect in your existing setup. It is intended to address failure of the primary encoder or its connection, and its value depends on how independent the backup encoder and network path are.

- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Set up and connect the backup encoder for the same event.
- For a failover test, stop the primary encoder or unplug its Ethernet cable.
- Confirm that the viewer-facing player rolls over to the backup feed.
- Restore the primary setup and check that the intended stream behavior returns.
YouTube recommends testing failover this way. Do not assume viewers will experience uninterrupted playback until you have tested the actual setup.
Protect a long bhajan recording
YouTube can automatically archive live streams that are under 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local archive as a backup rather than relying on YouTube’s archive for a long broadcast. YouTube recommends recording a local archive.

Keep the stream rights-cleared
Automatic reconnect only addresses connection recovery; it does not establish that the bhajan recording, performance, or other material is cleared for streaming. Use material you have the rights to stream and check YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream rules before going live. Stream recovery is not a substitute for rights clearance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your bhajan stream uses uploaded recordings rather than a live camera feed, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is not a camera-streaming service.
