If the gaming stream is still live
YouTube DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream when DVR is available. Open the stream and use the player’s seek bar or rewind control to move toward the beginning of the available window.

- Open the live stream in YouTube.
- Use the seek bar or rewind control to move back through the available DVR window.
- If you cannot rewind far enough, DVR may be unavailable or limited for that stream. You cannot seek to a point before the broadcast began.
YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older app versions have lower limits, so the available rewind range can depend on the device and app. YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf the stream has ended and you mean a playlist of VODs
A completed VOD is a video in a playlist, not a segment of the live DVR window. To begin with the first playlist item, open that item; if it resumes partway through, seek that video to its beginning.

- Open the gaming VOD playlist.
- Select the first video you want to watch.
- If playback resumes at a later timestamp, move the video’s seek position to the start.
If the VOD you want is not first, change the playlist order. YouTube documents playlist management and temporary reordering from the playlist panel on a watch page. Reordering changes which item comes first; it does not rewind a video already in progress. YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists and YouTube Help: Add videos to a playlist.
Controls and gestures can vary by device. The official playlist guidance describes choosing and reordering videos, but does not establish a single playlist-wide “restart from beginning” control that works everywhere.

Playlist, queue, live DVR, or replay?
| What you mean | What to do | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Current live broadcast | Rewind with the player’s seek controls. | DVR must be available; you cannot seek before the broadcast began, and streams longer than 12 hours may have limited or unavailable rewind. YouTube Help. |
| Completed VOD in a saved playlist | Choose the desired item; seek within that video to its start if needed. | Changing item order does not reset the current video’s timestamp. Replay availability depends on the broadcast’s recording settings and processing. YouTube Live Streaming API: liveBroadcasts. |
| Temporary watch queue | Play from the queue, or save the videos to a playlist if you want to return later. | YouTube says a computer queue does not persist after the browser closes. YouTube Help: Queue videos. |
When a VOD is missing or will not start where expected
- The live stream is still running: use DVR seeking rather than looking for the VOD in a playlist. The rewind window cannot go earlier than the start of the live broadcast.
- The stream ended, but its replay is unavailable: replay availability can depend on broadcast recording settings and post-broadcast processing. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents the
recordFromStartandenableDvrsettings and their relationship to playback availability. Read the API documentation. - The wrong video opens first: select the intended VOD or reorder the playlist. A saved playlist and a temporary queue are different features.
- Rewind controls are missing or stop early: check whether DVR is available, whether the broadcast exceeds 12 hours, and whether your device or app has a lower limit.
- The video starts partway through: seek that individual video to the beginning; resetting its timestamp is separate from changing playlist order.
