To reset your Roku account PIN, sign in at my.roku.com, open My Account > Profile & Settings > PIN/Parental controls, and select Change PIN. Roku documents this as an account-website procedure, so you do not need your Roku remote or a factory reset for it.
“Roku PIN” can refer to more than one code, though. Identify which one you are locked out of before you start, because each one is reset in a different place.

Identify which Roku PIN you need to reset
Roku uses separate PINs for separate jobs. The table below shows where each one is managed and how it is reset.

Reset the Roku account PIN
Roku’s support article on creating, changing, or removing a Roku PIN gives this route. It is the reset path for the PIN that governs purchases and app additions on your account.

- Open a browser, go to my.roku.com, and sign in to the Roku account linked to your device.
- Open My Account, then Profile & Settings, then PIN/Parental controls.
- Select Change PIN and enter a new four-digit PIN following the prompts on the page.

Reset the Live TV parental-control PIN on a Roku TV
The Live TV parental-control PIN is separate from the account PIN. You cannot change it on the Roku website, so do not follow the account steps above for this code.

- To choose a new code, select Change PIN and follow the on-screen prompts.
- To clear the parental-control settings entirely, select Reset parental controls. Roku says this also clears the PIN, so you will need to set up the controls again afterwards.

Recover a forgotten PIN in Kid & Teen Mode
Kid & Teen Mode has its own on-screen recovery route. Roku documents it as follows:

- Scan the QR code shown on screen with your phone.
- Reset the PIN at my.roku.com.

What the account PIN does and does not cover
The account PIN is optional. Roku says it has four digits and is not required to use the Roku website or mobile app. When it is set, it is used for the actions listed in the table above.

If you cannot sign in to your Roku account
If you cannot get into your account at all, the problem is your password, not your PIN, and you cannot reach the PIN page until you sign in. Roku handles password recovery as a separate process that sends a password-reset email. Roku’s instructions are in Roku Support, How to change your password or email for your Roku account. Once you are signed in, return to the account PIN steps above.

Troubleshooting checklist
- Confirm you are signed in to the same account that is linked to the device.
- Check whether the PIN is for the account, the Roku TV Live TV controls, or Kid & Teen Mode; each has its own reset route.
- If the menu labels differ from the ones above, look for the same options under the PIN or parental-controls section. Roku updates its interface, so the names may change over time.
