There is no documented one-button reset for the Genesis Configuration puzzle in All Hellraiser Revival. If the box is in the wrong position, reconfigure it: use L1/R1 to cycle its shape, use the sticks to rotate it, and press A to confirm the match. Pressing B only exits the interaction; the available guide does not describe that as a puzzle reset or as a way to erase progress.
Every Genesis Configuration encounter has two sides. Match each side to the cut-out silhouette in the wall, then confirm it. The five mandatory locations are Sunny’s Pillar, Hand Statue, Head Statue, Tongue Statue and Factory Shrine.

What “reset” means for this puzzle
The word “reset” can describe two different actions here. You may want to correct a configuration that does not match the wall, or you may want to leave the puzzle and approach it again. The documented controls support the first action directly: change the box’s configuration, rotate it, and confirm a new alignment. They also support leaving the interaction, but do not identify that exit action as a reset.
When a side is correct, the box slots into the matching cut-out and the sequence advances. If it remains in front of the wall, treat that as a mismatch rather than evidence that a separate reset command is required. Check the overall shape first, then its rotation and the position of the illuminated point and side pieces.

Genesis Configuration controls
The control layout below is the one listed in the walkthrough. Keep the labels platform-qualified rather than assuming that every version uses identical button prompts.
| Action | Listed control | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Change configuration | L1 / R1 | Cycles the box through its available shapes. |
| Rotate configuration | Controller sticks | Turns the selected shape so its openings and pieces line up with the wall cut-out. |
| Confirm | A | Tests the current shape and orientation against the cut-out. |
| Exit interaction | B | Leaves the puzzle interface. The guide does not describe this as resetting the puzzle or its progress. |
If your on-screen prompts use different symbols, follow the prompts shown by your version. The important distinction is functional: the shoulder buttons cycle shape, the sticks rotate, confirmation checks the fit, and the exit control backs out of the interaction.
How to reconfigure a stuck puzzle
- Inspect the wall cut-out. Do not start by rotating at random. Look at the empty silhouette and note whether it calls for a diamond, a square, a border, parallel pieces or four corner blocks.
- Identify which side is active. Each encounter has two sides. The second silhouette can require a completely different arrangement from the first, so a solution that worked moments earlier may be wrong for the current face.
- Cycle the box’s shape. Press L1 or R1 until the box has the same broad outline as the target. A square outline cannot be corrected by rotation alone if the wall requires separated pieces or a diamond-like outline.
- Rotate the selected shape. Use the sticks to turn the configuration. Compare the openings, the side structures and the illuminated point with the corresponding empty spaces in the wall.
- Confirm only after both tests pass visually. Press A. A correct alignment slots into the cut-out and advances the sequence.
- Try the other side when the sequence presents it. Do not assume the first successful placement completes the location; the guides describe two sides for every Genesis Configuration puzzle.
- Leave only when you need to stop interacting. Press B to exit. Re-enter the puzzle and repeat the shape-and-rotation process if you backed out before confirming.
This procedure is a reconfiguration loop, not a hidden code. The required orientation differs by location, and the screenshots in the walkthroughs carry visual detail that is difficult to express as a universal series of stick movements.

How to read the silhouette before touching the controls
Take a moment to separate the target into three visual questions: What is the overall shape? How many pieces are present? Where are the openings or gaps? The first question tells you which configuration to select with L1 or R1. The second and third tell you how far to rotate it.
Use the illuminated point as a reliable direction marker when a shape looks symmetrical. A diamond may appear correct from its outline alone, yet the lit point can be aimed at the wrong corner. Likewise, a border can have the right star-shaped center while its gaps face upward and downward instead of left and right. Those are rotation errors, not reasons to keep cycling configurations.
Confirming is a complete-fit test, not a partial placement. Three matching corners, two correctly aligned openings or an approximately square outline are not enough. Compare every visible piece with an empty slot in the wall before pressing A. This habit is faster than repeatedly selecting shapes because it narrows each failed attempt to either configuration or orientation.
All five Genesis Configuration locations and their solutions
These are mandatory story-progression puzzles rather than optional collectibles. The locations below follow the progression clues given in the walkthroughs. For each one, solve side one and then side two by matching the local cut-out.
Sunny’s Pillar
Sunny’s Pillar appears during the “Free Sunny’s Soul” objective, at the far end of the labyrinth ruins. This is the first pattern to check if you are following the story route toward Sunny’s objective.
- Side one: Cycle the configuration until the square form reads as a diamond.
- Side two: Arrange two parallel structures with their openings facing inward toward each other.
The second side is easy to misread because the two structures can look like a single broad shape when viewed from an angle. Use the wall’s empty spaces as the authority: the openings must face inward, not outward. If the outline is correct but the openings point away from the center, keep the same configuration and rotate it rather than cycling to another shape.
Hand Statue
The Hand Statue puzzle becomes available after you collect the Hand Statue from Bruno’s House. Its two sides use the same pair of boulder-like forms but require different placement axes.
- Side one: Place the pair vertically, with one boulder-like form above the other.
- Side two: Place them horizontally, with one form on the left and the other on the right.
Here, the overall pieces may appear correct before the orientation is correct. A vertical pair will not satisfy the horizontal side simply because both pieces are present. First select the two-piece configuration, then rotate until the pair occupies the upper-and-lower or left-and-right positions shown by the cut-out.

Head Statue
The Head Statue encounter is in the area opened by the Hand Statue. It changes from a compact square arrangement to a more open border pattern.
- Side one: Form a square and orient the correct face upward.
- Side two: Create a border around a star-shaped center, with the gaps rotated into the side positions.
For side one, do not stop when the outline merely resembles a square. The face itself must be oriented upward, so inspect the top-facing detail before confirming. For side two, the star-shaped center is the useful landmark. The border’s gaps belong on the sides; if they appear at the top and bottom, rotate the same border configuration instead of changing its shape.
Tongue Statue
The Tongue Statue puzzle follows completion of the Well Puzzle and collection of the Tongue Statue piece. Its first side resembles Sunny’s Pillar, while its second side uses four separate corner placements.
- Side one: Turn the square configuration so it appears as a diamond.
- Side two: Put one block in each of the four corners.
The repeated square-to-diamond pattern does not mean Sunny’s Pillar and Tongue Statue share a complete solution. Confirm the local silhouette and then solve the second side independently. For the corner pattern, check all four corners before pressing A; three correctly placed blocks still leave the fourth opening unmatched.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Factory Shrine
The final listed location is the shrine inside the factory, near the elevator to Marlowe and Bruno. Its two sides reuse patterns seen earlier, but it remains a separate encounter with its own cut-out.
- Side one: Use the square-to-diamond configuration.
- Side two: Recreate the Head Statue-style border around a star-shaped center, leaving the open sides around that center.
On the border side, use the star-shaped center and the side openings as alignment references. The visual resemblance to the Head Statue puzzle is useful for recognizing the required configuration, but the confirmation still depends on the Factory Shrine’s actual wall silhouette.
A quick reference to every required pattern
| Location | How it becomes available | Side one | Side two |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunny’s Pillar | During “Free Sunny’s Soul,” at the far end of the labyrinth ruins | Square turned into a diamond | Two parallel structures with openings facing inward |
| Hand Statue | After collecting the Hand Statue from Bruno’s House | Two boulder-like forms vertically, one above the other | Two forms horizontally, left and right |
| Head Statue | In the area opened by the Hand Statue | Square with the correct face upward | Border around a star-shaped center, gaps on the sides |
| Tongue Statue | After the Well Puzzle and collecting the Tongue Statue piece | Square turned into a diamond | One block in each corner |
| Factory Shrine | Factory shrine near the elevator to Marlowe and Bruno | Square turned into a diamond | Head Statue-style border around a star-shaped center |
Troubleshooting when confirmation does not work
The shape looks right, but the box will not slot in
Check rotation before changing the configuration again. The documented interaction separates shape selection from orientation. A diamond can have the correct broad outline while its lit point or side pieces face the wrong direction. Rotate until the illuminated point and each opening line up with the corresponding empty slot.
The pieces are in the right places, but the openings face the wrong way
This is an orientation error. It is especially common on Sunny’s Pillar, where the two parallel structures must open inward, and on the Head Statue and Factory Shrine border patterns, where the gaps belong on the sides. Keep the selected shape and turn it with the sticks.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYou solved one face and the other face looks unrelated
That is expected. Every encounter has two sides, and the second silhouette can call for a different arrangement. Re-read the active wall cut-out instead of reusing the previous face’s orientation.
You pressed B and now think the puzzle reset
B is listed as the exit control. The available instructions do not say that exiting clears a solved side, returns the box to a default configuration or restarts story progress. Re-enter the interaction and perform the normal cycle, rotate and confirm sequence.
You are cycling shapes without finding the target
Stop cycling and classify the silhouette first. Decide whether it is a single diamond, a square, a two-piece vertical or horizontal arrangement, a four-corner arrangement, or a border around a star. Then cycle only until that family of shape appears and use rotation to finish the match.

Your controller labels do not match L1, R1, A and B
The listed layout is tied to a particular controller presentation. Other platforms may display different prompt symbols. Use the function represented by each on-screen prompt rather than assuming that the letter labels are universal.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Do you need to restart the story or collect anything again?
No documented instruction requires a chapter restart, save reload or special item to correct a wrong arrangement. The normal recovery is to manipulate the active box again. If you have already obtained the relevant statue or reached the listed area, return to that wall cut-out and repeat the shape, rotation and confirmation sequence.
The statue requirements are location-specific. The Hand Statue encounter follows collecting the Hand Statue from Bruno’s House; the Head Statue area opens through the Hand Statue; and the Tongue Statue encounter follows the Well Puzzle and collection of its piece. These are access conditions, not reset commands. They explain why a puzzle may not be available yet, but they do not change how an already active configuration is solved.
Why a universal button sequence is unreliable
The same visual family appears at more than one location. Sunny’s Pillar, Tongue Statue and Factory Shrine each use a square-to-diamond side, while Head Statue and Factory Shrine use a star-centered border pattern. That repetition is useful for recognition but not proof that the same stick movement or starting state applies everywhere.
The guides describe the required appearance, not a fixed count of rotations from a known default. Camera angle, the active side and the box’s current configuration all affect what you see. Use the silhouette and landmarks in front of you instead of counting taps copied from another puzzle.
What is known about platforms and the game
A GamesRadar+ review identifies All Hellraiser Revival as a Saber Interactive title available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2. That platform list provides context for why button prompts may vary, but it does not establish a separate reset command for any version. The puzzle instructions above are limited to the controls and behavior documented in the walkthroughs.
The walkthrough evidence used for the locations and patterns comes from a Destructoid guide published October 10, 2026 and updated October 11, 2026, plus an AllThings. How guide updated October 11, 2026. Those guides describe the five mandatory puzzles, the two-sided mechanic and the way a correct confirmed alignment slots into the wall. They do not provide a universal rotation code, so use the silhouette at your current location rather than counting stick movements from another puzzle.

- Remain at the current wall and identify the active side.
- Write down or mentally classify the required silhouette.
- Use L1 or R1 to select the matching shape family.
- Use the sticks to align the lit point, openings and side pieces.
- Press A once the entire outline matches.
- If the result does not slot in, rotate the same shape again and compare every opening; only then cycle to another configuration.
- Use B only to leave the interaction, then approach it again when you are ready to retry.
This recovery method addresses the documented failure state—a configuration that does not match—without treating the exit control as a progress wipe. It also prevents a common mistake: applying the pattern from one of the five locations to another simply because both happen to use a diamond or a star-centered border.

Why did the correct-looking shape fail?
Most likely the orientation is wrong. Check the illuminated point, openings and side pieces against every empty slot in the wall before changing configurations.
Can I use the Sunny’s Pillar solution at Tongue Statue?
Only the square-to-diamond appearance is shared. The encounters have different second sides and must be matched to their own local silhouettes.

What if my buttons are not labeled L1, R1, A and B?
Follow the on-screen function prompts for your platform. The guide’s labels describe one controller layout, while the actions remain cycling, rotating, confirming and exiting.
Bottom line
To “reset” a Genesis Configuration puzzle, do not look for a hidden restart command. Read the wall silhouette, cycle to the correct shape, rotate its landmarks into place and press the confirmation button shown on your controller. Exit with B only when you want to leave. Repeat that process for both sides at all five mandatory locations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a dedicated reset button for Genesis Configuration?
No dedicated reset control is documented. Cycle the shape with L1/R1, rotate with the sticks and confirm the alignment.
Does B reset the puzzle?
B is documented as the exit control. The guides do not state that it erases progress or restores a default configuration.
How many mandatory Genesis Configuration puzzles are there?
There are five: Sunny’s Pillar, Hand Statue, Head Statue, Tongue Statue and Factory Shrine. Each has two sides.
Why does a shape that looks correct fail to slot in?
Its orientation is probably wrong. Check the illuminated point, openings and side structures against every slot in the wall.
Are the solutions identical at every location?
No. Some locations share a square-to-diamond pattern, but each wall has its own second side and required orientation.
What should I do if my controller uses different button labels?
Follow the on-screen prompts for your platform. The documented labels represent one controller layout, while the functions stay the same.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The Bottom Line
There is no documented one-button reset. Match the local silhouette by cycling the shape, rotating the box and confirming both sides; use the exit control only to leave the interaction.
