To reset the headset, power it off, then hold the power button for 10 seconds until the indicator flashes. Xiaomi says this restores factory settings and puts the REDMI Headphones Neo into pairing mode. Before pairing again, forget the old Bluetooth entry on your phone, restart Bluetooth, and select the headset as a new device. Xiaomi’s official pages call this model REDMI Headphones Neo; if your packaging says “Redmi Clip Neo,” confirm that the controls and model name match before using these steps.

What the reset fixes—and what it does not

A factory reset is useful when the headset refuses to pair, appears connected but produces no audio, or repeatedly loses its connection after ordinary checks. It clears the headset’s stored settings and returns it to pairing mode. The reset is not the first step for every symptom: charging, removing the old phone record, correcting volume, and reducing interference can solve a problem without changing settings.

Situation Start with Use the factory reset when
Phone cannot find or pair with the headset Charge the headset, make sure the indicator is flashing rapidly, keep the phone nearby, and forget the previous Bluetooth record. The old record is cleared but pairing still fails.
Phone says connected, but music or calls are silent Check phone media/call volume and headset volume, then test another device. Volume and device checks do not restore audio, or the connection appears corrupted.
Bluetooth disconnects repeatedly Stay within approximately 10 meters, remove obstacles, charge the headset, and leave areas with strong electromagnetic interference. The connection still drops after environmental and power checks.

Xiaomi’s pairing guidance says a low battery can prevent a stable Bluetooth connection, so charging is a meaningful diagnostic step rather than a formality. Xiaomi’s pairing FAQ also identifies the rapid-flashing indicator as the sign that the headset is ready to pair.

Reset the REDMI Headphones Neo step by step

  1. Charge the headset first

Connect a compatible charging cable and give the headset enough charge to power on reliably. A nearly empty battery can make pairing unstable or cause the headset to shut down during setup. If the indicator does not respond after charging, inspect the cable and charging connection; a reset cannot compensate for a headset that is not receiving power.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
    • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
    • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
    • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
    • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  2. Remove the old Bluetooth entry from the phone

Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings, select the saved REDMI Headphones Neo entry, and choose the option labeled Forget, Unpair, or Remove (the wording differs by phone). Do this before the reset so the phone does not keep trying to reuse a damaged or outdated pairing record. If the headset appears in more than one phone, remove it from each nearby device that might reconnect automatically.

  3. Power the headset off completely

Do not begin the reset while it is already connected or playing audio. Turn it off and wait for the indicator to go dark. Starting from the powered-off state is part of Xiaomi’s documented procedure.

  4. Hold the power button for 10 seconds

With the headset powered off, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, until the indicator flashes. Xiaomi states that this restores factory settings and enters pairing mode. Release the button once the flashing begins; a quick tap is not a reset. See Xiaomi’s exact reset instruction.

  5. Pair it as a new device

Leave the phone’s Bluetooth screen open, keep the phone close to the headset, and select REDMI Headphones Neo when it appears. Xiaomi says pairing mode ends after one minute if no connection is made, at which point the indicator turns off. If that happens, repeat the powered-off 10-second hold and try again without leaving the Bluetooth screen.

  6. Confirm audio before changing anything else

Play a short track and make a test call. Check that sound is routed to the headset rather than the phone speaker. If audio is still absent, follow the no-sound branch below instead of repeatedly resetting.

If the headset will not pair after the reset

Verify that pairing mode is actually active

The indicator should flash rapidly after the reset. A dark or steady indicator means the headset may have timed out, remained powered on, or not completed the reset. Power it off and repeat the 10-second hold. Keep the phone within a short distance while the device is discoverable.

Reduce competing connections and radio interference

Temporarily turn off Bluetooth on other phones, tablets, or computers that have previously used the headset. Those devices can reconnect first and make the headset appear unavailable to the phone you are trying to configure. Xiaomi also recommends reducing interference from Wi-Fi routers and other Bluetooth devices during pairing. Move to a less crowded location for the initial connection.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Pair within the one-minute window

The headset does not remain discoverable indefinitely. If the phone does not complete the connection within one minute, the indicator turns off and pairing mode ends. Start the scan immediately after the indicator begins flashing; if the model is missing, do not wait several minutes—repeat the reset sequence.

Try a second phone or Bluetooth source

Testing another device separates a phone-side problem from a headset-side problem. If the REDMI Headphones Neo pairs and plays normally with a second phone, remove the old record on the original phone again and restart that phone’s Bluetooth before retrying. If it fails on multiple devices after a charge and reset, the headset itself is more likely to need service.

When it says “connected” but there is no sound

A successful Bluetooth connection and a working audio path are separate things. Work through these checks in order:

  1. Raise both volume controls. Increase the phone’s media volume for music and its call volume during a call. Also raise the headset’s own volume. Either control can be low while the Bluetooth status still says connected.
  2. Check the active output. On the phone’s media or call screen, confirm that REDMI Headphones Neo is selected as the output instead of the built-in speaker, another headset, or a car system.
  3. Stop and restart playback. Pause the app, close it, and start a new track or call. This refreshes the audio stream without changing Bluetooth settings.
  4. Reset gestures and audio effects in the Xiaomi Earbuds App. Xiaomi’s no-sound guidance specifically recommends resetting configured gestures and audio effects in the companion app. Use the app only if it recognizes the headset; changing unrelated settings will not repair a phone that has selected the wrong output. Xiaomi’s no-sound FAQ describes these checks.
  5. Forget and pair again. If volume and output are correct but silence persists, remove the Bluetooth record, perform the powered-off reset, and pair again as a new device.
  6. Test another device. Play audio from a different phone or computer. Sound on the second device points to a configuration problem on the first; silence everywhere after resetting points toward a hardware or service issue.

How to stop Bluetooth from disconnecting

Stay inside the effective range

Xiaomi lists an effective Bluetooth transmission range of approximately 10 meters. This is a practical guidance figure, not a guarantee through walls or crowded radio environments. Keep the phone and headset closer than that while diagnosing the problem, especially in another room or outdoors.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Remove obstacles and interference

Walls, furniture, the user’s body, Wi-Fi routers, and other Bluetooth transmitters can weaken the link. Carry the phone on the same side of the body as the headset, move away from routers and dense wireless areas, and retest with other Bluetooth accessories disabled. Xiaomi advises leaving areas with strong electromagnetic interference when connections drop. See Xiaomi’s connection-drop guidance.

Keep the battery charged

Recharge the headset before a long listening session. Low power can produce an unstable connection and may look like a range problem. If drops stop after charging but return whenever the battery is low, power management is the likely trigger.

Use a controlled test

For a useful test, place the phone and headset close together in a quiet area, pause downloads or streaming on nearby devices, and play audio for several minutes. Then increase distance gradually. If the link fails only after distance or obstacles are introduced, the environment is implicated; if it fails beside the phone, repeat the reset and test another phone.

Non-destructive checks versus a factory reset

Action What it changes When to choose it Expected sign
Charge the headset Restores available operating power; does not erase settings. Indicator is weak, the headset powers off, or pairing is erratic. Stable power and a responsive indicator.
Forget/unpair the phone record Removes the phone’s saved Bluetooth relationship. The phone shows an old entry, loops on connecting, or reconnects incorrectly. The headset appears as a new device during a fresh scan.
Move closer and reduce interference Changes the radio environment; does not alter settings. Audio cuts out with distance, obstacles, routers, or other Bluetooth devices. Fewer drops at short range in a quiet location.
Factory reset Restores factory settings and enters pairing mode. Charging, a clean phone record, and controlled pairing still fail. Indicator flashes and the headset is discoverable for up to one minute.
Test another phone Changes the source device; does not alter the headset. You need to determine whether the original phone or headset is at fault. Different behavior on the second device identifies a phone-side configuration issue.

Common mistakes that make the reset appear not to work

  • Holding the button while the headset is on: Xiaomi’s instruction starts with the headphones powered off. Turn them off first.
  • Holding for less than 10 seconds: A short press may only power the headset on or off. Continue until the indicator flashes.
  • Keeping the old Bluetooth entry: The phone may reconnect to stale data. Forget or unpair the saved REDMI Headphones Neo record before pairing again.
  • Waiting too long to select the headset: Pairing mode ends after one minute without a connection.
  • Diagnosing audio only by the Bluetooth label: “Connected” does not prove that media or call audio is routed to the headset. Check output selection and both volume controls.
  • Testing at the edge of range: Begin within a few meters, then investigate distance, obstacles, and interference after stable playback is confirmed.
  • Resetting repeatedly without a second-device test: A second phone provides more useful evidence than multiple identical resets.

When to stop troubleshooting and contact Xiaomi

Contact a local Xiaomi after-sales service center when the headset will not enter pairing mode, will not pair with more than one device, or still has no audio after charging, a clean Bluetooth record, the factory reset, and another-device testing. Xiaomi directs users with persistent pairing, no-sound, or connection-drop problems to after-sales support in these circumstances. Bring the headset, its charging cable, and the phone used for testing, and describe which indicator behavior you observed. Do not assume that a phone reset or firmware change is required unless Xiaomi support specifically instructs you; the documented recovery path is the charge, clean pairing record, 10-second reset, controlled retest, and service escalation.

Quick decision checklist

  1. Is the headset charged and powering on?
  2. Is the indicator flashing rapidly after a powered-off 10-second button hold?
  3. Did you forget or unpair the old REDMI Headphones Neo entry?
  4. Did you select the headset within the one-minute pairing window?
  5. For silence, did you check phone media/call volume, headset volume, and audio-output selection?
  6. Did you reset gestures and audio effects in the Xiaomi Earbuds App if it is available?
  7. For dropouts, did you test within approximately 10 meters, with fewer obstacles and less interference?
  8. Did you try another phone or Bluetooth source?
  9. If every test fails, have you contacted a local Xiaomi after-sales service center?
