Find the right location first
Start on the business’s official website and look for a location finder, branch page, or contact page. Google Search Central notes that business location and contact pages are common places to find a location, phone number, and opening hours. For a chain, use the page for the specific branch you plan to visit rather than assuming a national homepage describes every location.

Read the weekly schedule, then check for a notice that applies to the day you intend to go. Holidays, seasonal schedules, special events, and temporary closures can change the usual hours. Google Business Profile guidance distinguishes regular customer-facing hours from special hours for particular dates; its API documentation says special hours typically cover holidays or exceptions and override regular hours.

Look for a date on the notice and confirm it covers your planned visit. A holiday schedule from a previous year, for example, does not establish this year’s hours.
Check the service you need
A business may be open while a specific service or department is not. Google’s guidance notes that departments can have separate profiles and hours. Check the relevant department or service page if you need a pharmacy counter, repair desk, restaurant kitchen, or another part of the business rather than general building access.

Some businesses do not have useful ordinary opening hours. Appointment-only businesses and businesses whose schedules vary by activity may require a booking or a specific event schedule. Confirm whether you can walk in and whether the service you need will be available at your planned time.
Cross-check the listing for that branch
Compare the official branch page with the business listing for the same address. Check the branch, date, regular versus special hours, department or service, appointment requirements, and whether the information appears current. A listing’s special hours can override regular hours, but neither a website nor a third-party listing is guaranteed to be more accurate in every case.

What to do when the information is unclear
- Recheck that both sources refer to the exact address and service.
- Look for a date-specific holiday, event, seasonal-hours, or closure notice.
- Use the official contact page or phone number to ask whether the location will be open on your date and whether the service you need is available.
- For appointment-based or event-based businesses, confirm the booking or event time rather than relying on general hours.
Calling is a prudent way to resolve a meaningful discrepancy, but it cannot guarantee that someone will answer or that every online page is current.
