To watch a gaming VOD again, open the creator’s published replay on YouTube and play it from the watch page—there’s no need to download it. To keep it repeating, turn on YouTube’s Loop or Repeat control. This only works if the creator has made the replay available.
Find and play the finished broadcast
- Open the creator’s YouTube channel and check its videos or Live area. YouTube says finished-stream replays and highlights can appear as videos on the channel. YouTube Help: Learn about live streams.
- Open the replay and play it directly on YouTube. To start it over, restart the video or move the playhead to the beginning.
- If you want it to repeat continuously, turn on Loop or Repeat in the player. The control’s location depends on the device. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists.
Turn on repeat on your device
- Computer: Right-click the video player and select Loop.
- Mobile: Use YouTube’s repeat option for a video or playlist in the player or playback controls.
- TV or gaming console: Use the player’s Repeat control. The exact presentation can vary by device.
You can also loop a playlist. These controls repeat available YouTube videos; they do not create a missing replay or make a private video accessible.
If the gaming VOD is missing
A viewer cannot create an archive from their own player. The creator may not have an archive, may have removed it, or may have set it to private or unlisted. Check the channel’s playlists and highlights, or ask the creator for the replay link. Creators can change archive visibility in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is not a guarantee that every shorter stream will remain available: the channel’s visibility and deletion choices still matter. For creators preserving their own footage, YouTube recommends making a local recording as a backup; that is separate from watching a published replay online.

If the broadcast is still live, use DVR
DVR is for pausing and rewinding a live broadcast, not for finding a finished VOD. YouTube’s guidance says viewers cannot seek back to before the stream began, and DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Devices and older app versions can have lower limits. If the broadcast has ended, open its published replay instead. YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams.
Clips are not full VODs
A YouTube Clip is an excerpt, not a way to replay the entire gaming broadcast. Clips are 5–60 seconds long and play from the original video’s watch page. Making clips from a live stream requires DVR; a clip outside the DVR window may not be playable until the stream ends and the original video is posted.
