You can rebroadcast a saved League of Legends ranked match as a YouTube Live event if the replay opens in your available League client: play it in the client, capture its presentation with a streaming encoder, and send the encoder feed to a scheduled or created YouTube broadcast. First test the archive itself—whether an older match file works depends on that archive and your current client.
Check that the match archive opens
Before scheduling a broadcast, try opening the saved match archive in the League client available to you. Compatibility depends on the archive, its game version, and the client; Riot’s published documentation does not establish that a particular old ranked-match file will load in a current client.

If the archive will not open, you cannot use this workflow to replay that match from the file. Do not assume that changing YouTube settings or the encoder will fix a game-client compatibility problem.
Choose how to play and control the replay
Standard route: play it in the League client
For a straightforward rerun, open the replay in the client and play it while a streaming encoder captures the game presentation. This lets you schedule a YouTube event and manage its stream and chat, but someone must operate the client and encoder during the broadcast. YouTube’s official guide covers the event and encoder workflow; it does not prescribe a particular game-capture configuration.

Advanced route: use Riot’s Replay API
Creators or developers who need automated playback, camera movement, rendering, recording, or keyframe-sequence controls can consider Riot’s Replay API. Riot says the API is disabled by default and requires local game-client configuration; it is optional, not a requirement for ordinary replay playback. Riot notes that “The Replay API allows developers to adjust the in-game camera during replays.” See Riot Games Developer Relations’ League of Legends documentation for its control options.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- Create or schedule a broadcast: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the Live event. Set the title, description, thumbnail, visibility, and schedule, and choose chat and moderation settings that suit the event. YouTube’s live production guide describes the production workflow.
- Label the replay accurately: Say in the title or description that viewers are watching an archived match replay. A rerun of an old game is not the same as a match happening live; clear labeling helps set the right expectation.
- Copy the stream key into your encoder: Use the key for the broadcast in your encoder’s YouTube connection settings. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to that stream.
- Start the replay and encoder feed: Play the replay in League and start the encoder’s feed to YouTube. The broadcast is the event/video, while the stream carries the audio-video feed; Google explains the distinction in its YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
- Check the preview before going live: Wait for YouTube to receive the encoder feed and show a preview. Check that the game image and audio are present, then select Go Live in YouTube Studio to start the broadcast.
YouTube’s interface labels can change. If a control’s name or placement differs, follow the current Studio prompts for the scheduled event and its connected encoder feed.

Decide whether viewers can pause or rewind
Turn on DVR for the live stream if you want viewers to pause or rewind within the broadcast. DVR does not let viewers seek to a point before the stream began, and YouTube says support may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
If your goal is to let viewers watch a prerecorded video together without representing it as a live broadcast, consider a YouTube Premiere instead. YouTube distinguishes a Premiere—a new video watched with the community in real time—from a live stream, which is broadcast media in real time. Choose the format that matches what viewers will actually experience; see Learn about live streams.

Protect the archive and check rights
Keep the event under 12 hours and save a local copy
YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” That is not a guarantee that every event will be preserved; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Record a local copy as a backup, then check YouTube Studio’s Live content after the event and adjust the saved video’s visibility or details if needed. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.
Check the material in the broadcast
Make sure you have appropriate rights to rebroadcast the match archive and any third-party audio, overlays, or other material included in the presentation. Whether a particular archive or its contents are cleared cannot be determined from the replay workflow alone.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The archive will not open: The file may not work with the available client or its version. Test the actual archive in the client before planning the event; the official documentation does not establish compatibility for a specific file.
- YouTube does not show a preview: Confirm that the encoder is sending a feed to the stream key associated with the scheduled broadcast, and allow YouTube to receive it before selecting Go Live. The encoder feed must arrive before the operator starts the broadcast.
- The preview has no game image or sound: Check the encoder’s capture and audio inputs while the replay is playing. The cited YouTube guide establishes the event-and-feed sequence, not the exact capture settings for League or a particular encoder.
- Viewers cannot rewind to the beginning: DVR can only seek within the ongoing stream, not to a point before it started. Longer streams may have limited or unavailable DVR support.
- The finished broadcast is missing from the channel: Check YouTube Studio’s Live content and your event status. YouTube says an event under 12 hours can be archived automatically, but advises a local recording because preservation is not certain.
Or let it run in the cloud
The do-it-yourself method above requires the replay to open and someone to run the game client and encoder for the event. For a YouTube stream made from uploaded videos, StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not play a League client replay directly or broadcast from a camera, so use it only if you have a video recording of the match ready to upload.
