To request removal, submit each Google Search result or image URL through Google’s personal-content reporting form, choose the route for non-consensual intimate or sexual imagery, describe the lack of consent accurately, and respond to any follow-up. Google reviews the URLs you identify and may remove qualifying results from its own products. That action does not delete the image from the website hosting it, so contact the host separately.
You do not need to repost the image, attach it to this article, or circulate it to prove your case. Work from the URLs and surrounding information, and avoid creating additional copies.

Start by preserving the information Google needs
Before opening the reporting form, make a private record of where the material appears. Google’s process is URL-specific: it reviews the addresses submitted in the request rather than conducting an unrestricted search for every possible copy.

- Copy the full URL of each Google result, image result, or page that exposes the material.
- Record the search terms that caused the result to appear. The form may ask for them.
- Note the date you observed the result and, if useful, the Google product involved, such as Search, Images, Drive, or Photos.
- Keep the record in a private, access-controlled location. Do not post the URLs publicly or send intimate files to friends, journalists, or support forums.
If the same source appears under several Google URLs, list each relevant result. A request that names only one result does not automatically cover every other URL.

Do not create new copies of the imagery
Use text descriptions and URLs wherever the form permits. Do not download, crop, forward, or upload intimate imagery merely to document it. This is especially important when anyone shown could be under 18; separate rules apply, and sexual images of a minor must not be shared through a reporting form.
Choose the route that matches what happened
Google’s current personal-content flow separates several kinds of sexual or intimate material. Selecting the closest description helps route the report to the right review process.

The form can also present country-specific choices. Residents of India, Nigeria, and South Korea may see dedicated processes for some nude, intimate, sexual, or child-sexual-abuse reports. Follow the route shown for your residence and content type instead of assuming that a general form is the correct one.

For the standard non-consensual personal intimate-image route, Google describes criteria that generally include all of the following:
- The image shows you nude, in a sexual act, or in an intimate state.
- You did not consent to the imagery or to the act being shown.
- The material was made public or placed online without your consent.
- You are not currently being paid to commercialize the content.
An affected person can submit a request, and an authorized representative may submit one on that person’s behalf. A representative should be truthful about their authority and use their own contact details where the form asks for them.

These criteria describe a review route, not an automatic entitlement to removal. Google may weigh public-interest considerations and can handle real images, fake depictions, false sexual associations, and minor-related material through different paths. Do not select a category simply because it sounds more likely to succeed; an inaccurate description can delay review or lead to a denial.
Submit the request step by step
- Open Google’s personal-content reporting flow. Start from Google’s current help and reporting pages and select the option for sexual or intimate material. Labels and routing can change by country, so follow the choices displayed for your location.
- Identify who is filing. State whether you are the person shown or an authorized representative. If the form asks for the person affected, provide accurate details without adding unnecessary sensitive information.
- Choose the content type. Distinguish real non-consensual imagery from a fake or AI-generated depiction, a false association, or material involving a minor. If more than one category appears to apply, describe the facts plainly and answer the form’s follow-up questions rather than filing contradictory reports.
- Enter each specific URL. Paste the full Google result, image, or page addresses requested by the form. Include the search terms that produced them when prompted. Google says the submitted URLs are the ones it reviews, so check for missing characters, redirects, and duplicate entries before continuing.
- Describe consent and publication. Explain, in your own words, whether you consented to the creation, the act, the publication, or none of these. Say how the material became publicly available and identify the page or result where it appears. Keep the description factual; graphic detail is not necessary.
- Provide contact information if you want status updates. Google’s process can allow anonymous reporting in some circumstances. Supplying contact details can let Google send an automated confirmation or request missing information, but follow the current form’s instructions about what is required.
- Review for accuracy and submit once the entries are complete. Verify that every URL belongs to the result you want reviewed and that the category matches the facts. Save the confirmation or case reference in a private place if one is provided.
Do not assume that a general request covers results you did not list. If you later find additional qualifying URLs, submit them through the current process with the new addresses rather than altering evidence or circulating the image.
What happens after submission
Confirmation and requests for more information
When contact details are supplied, Google says it sends an automated confirmation. A reviewer may ask for missing information, and Google says it will notify the requester about action on the report. Monitor the address used in the form, including its spam or filtered folders, without forwarding the case details widely.
Review and public-interest considerations
Google reviews the request and can consider whether a result has a public-interest dimension. The published guidance does not promise approval, removal of every URL, or a particular review time. Avoid relying on claims that a decision will arrive within a fixed number of hours or days.
If the request is denied
A denial is not a reason to submit an inaccurate category or repeatedly send the same information. Google says a requester can submit again with additional supporting information. A second request should identify what was missing or misunderstood, add newly discovered URLs if relevant, and explain the facts consistently. Keep copies of your original submission and any response so you can identify the precise issue.

Google Search removal is not source removal
Google can remove qualifying links from its Search results and other Google products, but it does not control the website that hosts the original file. A result may disappear from Google while the page remains reachable through its direct address, links shared by others, or another search engine.

Contact the website hosting the material
- Use the host’s privacy, abuse, copyright, or safety reporting channel, if available.
- Provide the exact page or file URL and state that you are the person shown (or an authorized representative).
- Request removal of the source copy, associated thumbnails, cached files, and account copies where the host controls them.
- Ask for written confirmation of what was removed and whether the host has disabled further sharing from the account or page.
Do not send an intimate attachment unless the host’s verified process explicitly requires it and you understand how it will be handled. A URL and a clear description are often sufficient to start a review.
Check again after the source changes
Once the host confirms removal, old Search results can remain temporarily because indexing and cached information do not update instantly. Submit the affected Google URLs through the current reporting flow if they continue to expose the material. The host’s removal and Google’s de-indexing are separate actions and may require separate requests.
Special handling when a minor may be involved
Sexual imagery involving anyone under 18 requires extra care. Google identifies separate reporting routes and notes that the experience can vary by country. Do not take screenshots containing the sexual imagery, upload them to Google’s form, or send them to a support person. Sharing the material can cause further harm and may itself violate the law.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact appropriate emergency or child-protection authorities in your location. For a non-immediate report, use the dedicated route shown by Google and provide only the information requested. If you are uncertain about a person’s age, do not attempt to verify it by asking others to circulate the image; describe the uncertainty through the official channel.

Country, language, and representative issues
Country-specific routing
Google’s form can route residents of different countries to different processes. India, Nigeria, and South Korea are identified as having dedicated routes for some reports involving nude, intimate, sexual, or child-sexual-abuse imagery. The correct path depends on both residence and content type, so select your actual location and follow the resulting instructions.
Using an authorized representative
An affected person or an authorized representative can request review. A representative should explain their relationship or authority when asked, avoid exaggerating the facts, and keep the affected person’s information confidential. If the form requires the subject’s contact details or confirmation, follow those instructions rather than substituting information that could prevent Google from verifying the request.
When a site demands payment to remove content
Google describes a separate Search policy for pages on sites that require payment for removal. That policy has its own conditions, including that the requester is the subject of the content and that the site is not a business-review site. It should not be confused with the core non-consensual intimate-image process.
If a removal-for-payment situation applies, read the criteria in Google’s current policy and submit through the route that matches them. Do not assume that paying the site will remove Google results, and do not provide payment-card or identity information through an unverified contact channel. You can pursue the intimate-image route and the separate payment-demand route when the facts support both.
Support options and personal safety
Google’s help guidance identifies StopNCII.org as a global organization that may help reduce the spread of non-consensual explicit content. It also names the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative in the United States and the Revenge Porn Helpline in the United Kingdom. These are support leads, not replacements for Google’s request process or for legal advice; confirm that each service currently operates in your location before sharing details.
- Use a new, private email address or an account with strong security if you are concerned about monitoring or retaliation.
- Enable two-factor authentication and change reused passwords, especially if the material may have come from a compromised account.
- Ask trusted people to help keep records, but give them URLs and written facts rather than copies of the imagery.
- Consider local legal advice when you need an injunction, evidence-preservation advice, identification of an anonymous uploader, or guidance about your jurisdiction’s criminal or civil remedies.
No official guidance establishes a guaranteed outcome or a universal response time for an individual case. A lawyer or local victim-support service can explain rights and deadlines that depend on your country and circumstances.
Troubleshooting common problems
The form does not accept a URL
Copy the address directly from the browser, remove accidental spaces, and check that it is the Google result or page address requested rather than a shortened link. If the result redirects, record both the visible result and the destination address, then follow the form’s instructions about which one to enter.
You found more results after filing
Keep the original case information and submit the additional URLs through the same current reporting flow. Explain that they are newly identified results; do not replace the facts with a different story.

Do not force a synthetic depiction into the real-image category. Select the fake-depiction or false-association route and explain what makes the material inauthentic or wrongly linked to you.
The host refuses to respond
Save the host’s refusal, the page URL, and any payment demand. Continue with Google’s Search request, and seek local legal or victim-support advice if you need source removal, identification of the uploader, or urgent protection. Google’s removal of a result cannot compel the host to erase its copy.
Private checklist before you submit
- Every relevant Google result or image URL is recorded exactly.
- The search terms that exposed the result are noted when available.
- The selected category matches the facts: real, synthetic, false association, or minor-related.
- Your description states who is shown, what consent was or was not given, and where the content is publicly available.
- You have not attached or circulated sexual imagery of a minor.
- Your contact details, if supplied, are secure and monitored for follow-up.
- You have a separate plan to contact the hosting website.
- You have saved confirmation numbers and correspondence privately.
The practical goal is two-track: ask Google to remove qualifying results from its services, and ask the host to remove the underlying copy. Keeping those requests separate, accurate, and limited to necessary information gives each process the facts it can actually act on.
