The storefront that charged you controls the refund. For a purchase billed by the EA app or EA.com, open EA Account > Payments & Wallet, select the transaction and run the EA Refund Tool. Purchases billed by PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic, Nintendo, a mobile store or a physical retailer must be requested from that seller instead. Separately purchased Battlefield 6 DLC and in-game currency are excluded from EA’s standard refund policy, although consumer law in some jurisdictions may provide additional rights.
Start by identifying who billed the transaction
The game account and the billing account are not necessarily the same. You may play through an EA account while the payment was processed by a console store or PC marketplace. Refund responsibility follows the payment record, not the platform on which you launched the game.

- Find the order receipt in your email, bank or card statement, or the purchase-history page for the platform.
- Note the seller’s name, order number, purchase date, item name, platform and EA account used.
- Check whether the item is a full game, an add-on, virtual currency, a skin, an emote, an XP boost or another consumable.
- Record whether the download or streaming started and whether any currency or content was used, transferred or consumed.
If the statement says EA, use EA’s route. If it names a console store or another marketplace, submit the request there first, even if EA Help appears in the game’s menus.

Use this procedure when your receipt or statement identifies EA as the seller.

- Sign in to the EA account that made the purchase.
- Open Account settings, then Payments & Wallet.
- Select the Battlefield 6 transaction so the order details are visible.
- Choose the EA Refund Tool. EA describes it as the place to check whether a game qualifies for a self-service refund and to submit the request.
- Answer the eligibility questions accurately and submit the request. Save the confirmation or case number.
- If the tool cannot resolve the matter, contact EA Help. Include the issue, game, platform, order number, purchase date, EA account and a concise explanation of what happened.
Do not open a second request with a different explanation. A consistent record makes it easier for support to match the request to the transaction and determine whether an exception or statutory remedy applies.
EA’s eligibility windows for a full game
These windows concern an eligible full-game download under EA’s standard policy. They do not turn separately purchased currency or DLC into refundable items.

The longer 72-hour route is tied to a new game’s first 30 days after release and to technical problems within EA’s control; it is not a general three-day cooling-off period for every complaint.

Battlefield 6 coins, skins and add-ons
Separately purchased currency
EA states that in-game currencies bought separately are not refundable under its standard refund policy. That covers a standalone Battlefield 6 coin or currency transaction, even when none of the balance has been spent. Submit to the billing storefront anyway if you believe the charge was unauthorized, duplicated or covered by a statutory consumer right, and state the exact circumstances.

Separately purchased DLC and content packs
EA likewise excludes separately purchased downloadable content from its standard policy. Some editions that include virtual currency or content packs are also excluded. The edition’s contents and the way the order was billed matter, so include the edition name rather than describing it only as “the game.”
Skins, emotes, boosts and other consumables
A skin, emote, bonus level, XP boost or similar item can be treated as an add-on or consumable by the store that sold it. Do not use, equip, transfer or consume the item while a request is pending. Record whether the item was delivered and whether any part of it was used; the platform may ask for those facts even when EA did not process the payment.
PlayStation purchases
For a PlayStation-billed Battlefield 6 transaction, use the PlayStation Support refund-request flow rather than the EA Refund Tool.
- Open your PlayStation purchase history and locate the Battlefield 6 order.
- Confirm the order number, date, account and exact item type.
- Start PlayStation’s refund request and select the matching transaction.
- State whether downloading or streaming began and whether the content was consumed.
- Keep the case reference and any follow-up instructions.
PlayStation’s general policy says a game or add-on can be cancelled within 14 days when downloading or streaming has not started. Virtual currency, skins, bonus levels, emotes, XP boosts and other gameplay-depleted items are handled as add-ons or consumables, so item type and delivery or use can change the result. Local law can also alter the available remedy. Because PlayStation applies its own policy to its own billing, an EA case cannot substitute for the PlayStation request.

Xbox purchases
When Xbox or Microsoft appears as the seller, submit the request through Xbox/Microsoft support. EA’s policy routes console-store purchases to the console storefront and does not provide a Battlefield 6-specific Xbox timing rule in the material available here.
- Open your Microsoft or Xbox order history and copy the order number.
- Use the support option for a refund or digital-game purchase problem.
- Identify Battlefield 6, the platform, the item type and whether it was downloaded or used.
- Explain any duplicate, accidental or unauthorized charge factually and retain the case number.
Do not select an EA-billed order in the EA tool if the Xbox receipt shows that Microsoft collected the money; the request will need to be handled by the party named on the receipt.
Steam purchases
Use Steam Support’s purchase-refund flow for a Steam-billed transaction.
- Sign in to the Steam account that made the purchase.
- Open Help, choose Steam Support, then open the purchase history and select the Battlefield 6 transaction.
- Choose the refund or purchase-problem option and provide the order details and reason.
- State whether the item was consumed, modified or transferred.
Steam publishes a specific 48-hour rule for in-game items in Valve-developed games when the item has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Battlefield 6 is not a Valve-developed game, so that rule should not be assumed to guarantee eligibility. Steam will apply the policy attached to the transaction and may direct questions about an EA-processed charge to EA.

Epic Games Store purchases
Epic’s Battlefield 6 FAQ says that in-game purchases are processed by EA and directs refund questions to EA Help. Start by checking the receipt: if Epic completed the charge, use the Epic purchase-support route; if EA completed it, use EA Account Payments & Wallet and the EA Refund Tool.
- Open Epic’s transaction history and identify the seller and order number.
- For an Epic-billed game or add-on, submit the request through Epic’s support flow.
- For an EA-processed in-game purchase, contact EA Help with the Epic receipt attached or quoted.
- Explain whether the item was delivered, used or consumed.
The phrase “processed by EA” describes the payment processor for the in-game purchase; it does not authorize a refund for every Epic order. The receipt remains the decisive evidence.

EA says an EA-billed pre-order can be cancelled and refunded until release. Request the cancellation before the release time shown for your edition and keep the confirmation. If the pre-order was placed through PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic or another seller, use that seller’s cancellation process and its published pre-order terms instead. A pre-order cancellation request is different from a post-release request for a launched game, so identify the order as a pre-order when you contact support.
What to include in every request
- Order number: Copy it exactly from the receipt.
- Purchase date and amount: Include the currency and whether the charge is recurring or one-time, if shown.
- Seller and platform: Name EA app, EA.com, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic or another storefront.
- Item description: Use the store’s wording, such as Battlefield 6 coins, a skin, an add-on, an edition or the base game.
- Usage status: Say whether the download or streaming started and whether the item was opened, equipped, transferred or consumed.
- EA account: Provide the account identifier or email requested by support, but do not post it publicly.
- Reason: Give a short, truthful explanation, including technical symptoms and dates when relevant.
- Evidence: Keep the receipt, order-history screenshot and support correspondence available.
If the self-service request is denied
Check the seller before appealing
A denial from EA does not decide a PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or Epic transaction, and a marketplace denial does not necessarily decide an EA-billed order. Recheck the statement and submit to the correct seller if the first request went to the wrong company.
Ask for a human review when the facts fit an exception
Contact the seller’s support team if the EA Refund Tool cannot resolve an eligible full-game case, if a technical failure prevented play during the applicable new-game window, or if the charge may be unauthorized or duplicated. Give the case number and add only new, verifiable facts.
Preserve statutory rights
EA notes that consumer law in some jurisdictions may provide additional remedies, including refunds. If the seller’s standard policy conflicts with rights in your country or region, keep the order record and seek guidance from the relevant consumer-protection authority. State your location because eligibility can depend on local law and the item type.
Common mistakes that slow a refund
- Opening an EA request for a transaction billed by a console or PC storefront.
- Calling a currency purchase a “game refund” when the item was bought separately.
- Launching, spending or transferring content while asking for a refund.
- Assuming the Steam 48-hour in-game-item rule applies to a non-Valve game.
- Omitting whether a download, streaming session or consumption began.
- Submitting conflicting dates, order numbers or explanations.
- Waiting until an eligibility window has passed when the problem was already apparent.
Practical decision examples
Unused EA-billed full game
If EA charged for the game and it has not been launched, the relevant standard window is 14 days from purchase. Use Payments & Wallet and submit through the EA Refund Tool without launching the game.

If the game is new, the problem is within EA’s control and the first 30 days after release have not ended, document the failure and submit within 72 hours of the first launch. If that special condition does not apply, the ordinary 24-hour post-launch window is the relevant standard route.
Coins bought on PlayStation
Use PlayStation Support, not EA. Give the transaction number and say whether the coins were delivered or spent. PlayStation’s add-on and consumable rules, together with local law, determine the result.
Skin bought through Steam
Start with Steam Support because Steam billed the order. Do not rely on the 48-hour rule written for Valve-developed games; identify the item and its usage status and let Steam apply the policy for that transaction.
Final checklist
- Match the receipt to the seller that charged you.
- Classify the purchase as a full game, pre-order, DLC, currency or consumable.
- Record launch, download, streaming and consumption status.
- Submit through the correct storefront’s support flow.
- Include the order number, date, platform, EA account, item name and truthful reason.
- Save the confirmation and escalate with the same case number if self-service does not resolve it.
The fastest accurate route is therefore simple: follow the money, identify the item, check the applicable window or exclusion, and submit a complete request to the seller named on the receipt.
