Use the platform-specific route below, provide the order evidence, and describe exactly what happened. Steam can review requests outside its normal rule; PlayStation, Xbox/Microsoft Store, and Nintendo apply their own eligibility conditions. No platform policy cited here promises a refund merely because a Sega game was delisted.

First, determine what the delisting changed
SEGA’s notice concerns selected games and bundles, not every Sega title. It gives a delisting start time of 6 December at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time for the listed titles. The practical distinction is:

- Not available to buy: the store page no longer accepts new purchases.
- Still owned: Sega says the title remains in the purchaser’s library and can still be downloaded and played.
- Access failure: a game that disappeared from a library, will not download, or cannot launch is a separate problem that should be described as such in a support request.
Before asking for money back, sign in to the account that made the purchase and check the library and transaction history. If the game is present and works, delisting alone is not evidence that the purchase has been revoked. If it is missing or unusable, preserve screenshots and report the access fault along with the refund request.

Prepare the evidence before opening a case
A complete request gives support enough information to locate the transaction and distinguish a normal delisting from a genuine access or quality problem. Gather these items first:
- Store and device: Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Microsoft Store for PC, or Nintendo eShop, plus the console or computer used.
- Exact product: game title, edition, season pass, or bundle name. A bundle may have a different order record from an individual game.
- Order details: order or transaction number, purchase date, currency, amount, and payment method.
- Account identity: the account or gamertag that made the purchase. Do not send a password or full payment-card number.
- Delisting information: when you first noticed the title was no longer sold and, if relevant, the 6 December 2025 delisting date stated in Sega’s notice.
- Current access: whether the title is still listed in your library, can be downloaded, launches, and can be played.
- Usage: whether you downloaded, streamed, launched, or played it, and approximately how much.
- Proof: receipt, order-history entry, or a screenshot of an error message if the form permits attachments.
Keep the explanation chronological: purchase date, first use, delisting discovery, and the present failure or concern. Ask for a refund to the original payment method where that platform’s policy allows it; do not demand an outcome that the policy does not promise.
Steam: use Steam Help and ask for an out-of-policy review when necessary
Steam’s standard eligibility rule
Valve’s normal rule is a request made within 14 days of purchase with less than two hours of playtime. Online, offline, and shared-library playtime all count. A Sega title being removed from sale later does not reset the purchase date or playtime clock.

Valve also says that customers outside those limits may submit a request for review. That is the route to use when you bought the game well before the delisting and believe the change materially affected your ability to use it. Approval is discretionary, so explain the timeline accurately rather than presenting the request as automatically eligible.
Steam request steps
- Open Steam Help and sign in to the purchasing account.
- Choose Purchases.
- Select the Sega game, edition, or bundle.
- Choose the problem that best matches the situation.
- Select I’d like to request a refund.
- Complete the form, including the reason and any supporting explanation.
- Choose Steam Wallet or the original payment method when those options are offered.
- Submit the request and retain the confirmation message. Steam sends a confirmation when the request is submitted and another when it is processed.
How to explain an old purchase after delisting
State that the purchase predates the delisting, give the transaction number and date, and say whether the title remains playable in your library. If the game is missing or a download fails, include the exact error and a screenshot. If it still works, explain the specific reason you are asking for an exception rather than claiming that removal from the store itself caused a loss of ownership.

For customers in the European Union or United Kingdom, Valve explains that statutory withdrawal for digital content generally ends 14 days after purchase or when downloading begins, whichever is sooner. That legal rule is separate from Steam’s voluntary refund policy. Local consumer law can provide additional rights, but the facts of the individual transaction determine whether they apply.
PlayStation Store: check Transaction History before contacting support
PlayStation’s normal conditions
For games and downloadable content, PlayStation’s checklist normally requires all three of these conditions:
- The request is made within 14 days of purchase.
- The game or DLC has not been downloaded or streamed.
- The content is not being returned under the separate faulty-content exception.
Downloading or streaming generally removes the ordinary cancellation route, even if the title is later delisted. If the content is defective, explain the fault specifically instead of relying only on the delisting date. PlayStation also states that local law may provide additional rights.
PlayStation request steps
- Open your account’s Transaction History.
- Select the Sega transaction.
- Choose Request Refund.
- Follow the on-screen questions and submit the required details.
- If the automated option does not appear or fails, contact PlayStation Support or use its online assistant.
Include the game’s exact name, transaction number, purchase date, download or stream status, and the date you noticed the delisting. If the game is no longer downloadable from your library, say that plainly and attach an error screenshot if available.
Refund destination and timing
PlayStation says an approved refund normally goes to the original payment method. If that is not possible, it may be credited to the PlayStation wallet. The stated processing window for an approved refund is 30–60 days, so the date of approval and the date the money appears may not be the same.

Xbox and Microsoft Store: submit the digital-game request with market caveats
Which route applies
For an Xbox purchase, use Microsoft’s Request a refund for digital games process and check the Digital Game Purchase Refund Terms. Microsoft provides a similar documented flow for Microsoft Store PC games. Online returns are not available in every market, so the form may differ by country or may not offer a self-service option.

- Sign in to the Microsoft account that made the purchase.
- Select the Sega item in the refund request area.
- Choose Request a refund.
- Enter the reason and select Next.
- Verify the transaction and contact details.
- Select Submit.
Xbox customers should follow the Refund Request Process after reviewing the Digital Game Purchase Refund Terms. Use the same account that owns the license; signing in with a different account can make a valid purchase appear absent.
What to put in the explanation field
Write the Sega title, platform, order number, purchase date, and the date you learned of the delisting. Distinguish between “the store no longer sells it” and “I cannot download or access my owned copy.” Add whether you downloaded, streamed, launched, or played the game and identify any concrete fault. Ask Microsoft to review the transaction under the terms applicable to your market.
Processing expectations
Microsoft says a request may take up to 72 hours to process. When approved, the refund generally reaches the original payment option within 3–5 business days. The first period is the eligibility decision; the second is the payment-processing period.
Nintendo eShop: contact support with realistic expectations
Nintendo’s published rule
Nintendo’s support article for downloaded games and DLC states: “We are unable to provide refunds or exchanges for mistaken purchases.” It does not promise a special exception when a Sega game has been delisted, and it does not offer Steam’s 14-day/two-hour guarantee.

How to make the request
- Collect the Nintendo account email or user ID, game or bundle name, order number, purchase date, and payment details.
- Record whether the title is still in your library, whether it downloads, and any error message.
- Contact Nintendo Support and explain the unresolved situation.
- Ask for a review based on the concrete facts: failed download, missing entitlement, defective content, or another access problem.
- Attach the receipt or transaction-history screenshot if the support channel allows it.
Do not describe a simple change in store availability as proof that Nintendo owes a refund. A request is more precise when it separates an accidental purchase from a genuine loss of access or a fault, while acknowledging that Nintendo’s published rule is restrictive.

You can adapt this structure to any of the four platforms. Keep the bracketed fields inside the form itself and replace them with your information:
Subject: Refund review for [game title] — order [order number]“I purchased [game title and edition] on [platform and device] on [purchase date], order [order number]. I first noticed that the title was delisted on [date]. It is currently [still in my library / missing from my library] and [downloads and launches / fails to download / fails to launch]. I [did/did not] download or stream it and played approximately [time]. Please review this transaction under the refund policy for my market and return any approved refund to the original payment method where available. I have attached [receipt or error screenshot].”
Remove any statement that is not true. In particular, do not say that you never downloaded a game if the platform records a download, and do not claim that a delisting guarantees a refund.

The game remains in your library
SEGA says owned games in the affected notice remain available for download and play. Keep the installed copy and, where the platform permits it, retain a local backup of saved data. A successful launch means the primary issue is store availability, not necessarily a broken entitlement.
The game is listed but will not download
Capture the exact error, date, device, account, and network conditions. Restarting a download or reinstalling may remove local files, so preserve saves and screenshots first. Report the failed download as the main problem and mention the delisting as context.
The game disappeared from the library
Check that you are using the purchasing account, the correct console profile, and the correct edition or bundle. Then compare the library with the transaction history. If the order exists but the entitlement does not, provide both records to support and request restoration or a refund review.
The game works but you changed your mind
Use the platform’s ordinary refund criteria. Delisting does not create a new return period, and playtime or downloading can make a request ineligible under the normal rules.
Common reasons a request is rejected and how to respond
- Outside the time window: Steam still allows an out-of-policy submission for review; other platforms may require a fault or a legal exception. Add the purchase and delisting dates so the reviewer can see the timeline.
- Too much playtime or a completed download: do not dispute a recorded fact. Explain any separate defect, failed access, or unauthorized transaction if one exists.
- Wrong account: sign out and verify the account shown in the original receipt. Support cannot normally locate an order under an unrelated account.
- Bundle confusion: identify the bundle name and each component. A refund request for an individual game may not match the bundle’s transaction record.
- Payment method unavailable: choose the wallet option only when the platform offers it or directs you to it. Do not send new card details in an email or chat.
- No response from automated tools: save the case number, then use the platform’s support channel. Repeat the same facts consistently rather than opening contradictory requests.
Regional and legal considerations
Store rules are not identical worldwide. Steam’s EU/UK explanation distinguishes statutory withdrawal rights from its voluntary policy and notes that downloading digital content can end the withdrawal period. PlayStation says local law may provide additional rights. Microsoft warns that online returns are not available in all markets. These statements mean that country, purchase date, consent to begin delivery, and the content’s condition can matter as much as the delisting.
If you believe a local consumer law applies, state your country or region and ask the platform to assess the transaction under that law. Avoid citing a legal entitlement you cannot verify, and keep the request focused on the actual purchase and access facts.
