Those details can help Blizzard assess a report, but they are not proof of wrongdoing on their own.
Report a suspected gold seller in game
- Open the in-game player-reporting tool. Choose the closest category available in your client, such as cheating or inappropriate advertising, depending on what happened. Blizzard Support lists dedicated guidance for reporting cheating and inappropriate in-game advertising: reporting cheating and reporting inappropriate in-game advertising.
- Describe the conduct you observed. Include the character name, realm, approximate time, and the specific message, offer, or unusual delivery arrangement. Keep the report factual rather than asserting that someone is guilty based on suspicion alone.
- Submit the report through the client. Menu labels and steps may differ by client version; use the reporting option available in your game rather than relying on a universal right-click sequence.
Blizzard identifies unsolicited gold and an offer arranged by one character but delivered by another as tactics that can accompany illicit sales. They are useful observations to mention if they occurred, not conclusive evidence. See Blizzard’s July 30, 2025 statement on third-party gold.

What details are useful to include
- Character name and realm, including the name of a different character involved in delivery, if applicable.
- Approximate date and time, and whether the incident happened in chat, mail, or a trade.
- The exact substance of any solicitation or offer, paraphrased if necessary.
- Whether gold appeared unsolicited or the delivery did not match the character who made the arrangement.
Stick to firsthand facts. Do not contact or threaten the suspected seller, follow sales links, or accept unexplained gold to investigate. Blizzard says third-party gold transactions are risky and harmful, violate its End User License Agreement, and can result in removal of gold or permanent account suspension.

Use a support ticket for ongoing harassment
If the issue is persistent harassment, Blizzard documents a separate support-ticket route: Support > Contact Support > In-Game Issues > Report a Player > Ongoing Harassment. Provide the character names, realm, relevant time frame, and details. This route is for ongoing harassment; for an ordinary suspected seller or prohibited advertisement, use the in-game report tool.

Blizzard says it may tell a reported player that they were reported, but it does not reveal the reporter’s identity or share investigation findings with other players. See Blizzard’s harassment-report guidance.
If suspicious gold may involve your account
If you did not authorize a transaction or suspect that your account was compromised, treat that as an account-security issue as well as a possible player report. Follow Blizzard’s account-recovery guidance, secure your computer, and submit an account-recovery ticket. Blizzard also recommends adding an authenticator. Avoid third-party gold services and suspicious links.

What Blizzard says about illicit gold
Blizzard’s July 30, 2025 policy post says buying third-party gold is risky and harmful, supports malicious activity, and violates its End User License Agreement. Blizzard warns that accounts involved in transactions supporting sellers may have gold removed or face permanent suspension. This is distinct from Blizzard-sanctioned systems such as the WoW Token, where available; Blizzard’s WoW Token announcement describes that official gold-and-game-time exchange.
A separate announcement dated October 1, 2026 concerns WoW: Forever specifically. Blizzard said it had taken action against botting accounts and accounts found to have purchased or knowingly received illicit gold during the beta, and would continue enforcement after launch. It said accounts involved in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold could have gold removed, be suspended, or be permanently closed. The post described a warning for trades with strangers as coming soon; it should not be assumed to be live across all WoW versions. Read the WoW: Forever RMT enforcement announcement.
