Start with the game’s official support page, in-game help or feedback menu, or official bug-report forum. If an NPC unexpectedly repeats, overlaps, skips, or fails to advance dialogue, report it as a bug. If the lines play as designed but sound awkward or repetitive, send feedback if the game offers that route. The exact channel and labels vary by publisher.
Choose the right reporting channel
Look for a support or feedback route linked from the game’s official website or launcher. Check the in-game Help, Support, Feedback, or Report a Problem menu as well. If the publisher maintains an official bug-report forum, use it when its instructions match your issue. Publishers use different names for these categories, and not every game offers all of these routes.

- Unexpected behavior: NPC dialogue repeats when it should not, plays over another line, skips unexpectedly, or stops quest progress. Choose a bug-report category where possible.
- Awkward writing or repetition that appears intentional: Use general feedback or discussion if offered. Describe the line or pattern and why it feels unnatural; distinguish your opinion about the writing from a malfunction.
- Text, translation, or voice-over problem: Look for a localization, text, UI, or audio category. A mistranslation, spelling error, or voice-over issue may be routed separately from a gameplay bug.
For example, Bethesda’s instructions for The Elder Scrolls Online direct PC/Mac players to file a ticket under Feedback / Bug, use the in-game commands /feedback or /bug, or open Help with F1. Those commands and paths are ESO-specific, not universal. Bethesda also says its in-game feedback reports are not sent to its support team and do not receive a response; players seeking help should use /help or a differently categorized ticket. Other publishers have different divisions. EA’s Battlefield guidance directs bugs to its bug-report forum, technical problems to technical support, and general opinions to discussion. Ubisoft lists an online support form for account topics or other questions and Discord for some game issues, but says Discord cannot handle account-related support. What to include in your report
Make the report specific enough for someone else to understand what happened and, for a bug, try the same sequence. Use only details you actually observed; do not claim to have tested a restart, reload, or workaround unless you did.
- Game and version: Include the title and version or build if it is visible to you.
- Platform: Name the console, PC, or other platform. Include relevant system information if the game’s report form requests it.
- NPC, quest, and location: Identify who is speaking and where the dialogue occurs.
- Reproduction steps: List the actions that lead to the issue in order, including the trigger, such as approaching the NPC or selecting a dialogue option.
- Actual behavior: State whether a line repeats, overlaps, skips, or fails to progress. Quote the line if useful, or describe the timing accurately.
- Expected behavior: Explain what you expected instead, such as the next quest line playing once.
- Frequency: Say how often you observed it. Mention whether it happened again after restarting or reloading only if you tried that.
- Evidence: Attach a screenshot or short recording only if the chosen channel accepts it. Check its file, link, and hosting rules first.
Official Bungie bug-report templates ask for platform, reproduction steps, actual and expected results, links, and notes; the PC template also requests system information. Bungie encourages relevant screenshots or a clear screen recording, subject to the forum’s link-hosting requirements. These are instructions for Bungie reports, not a universal form. Use a concise subject and report one issue at a time
A useful subject names the symptom and where it occurs, for example: NPC dialogue repeats during [quest or location]. Put the steps and context in the body rather than relying on a vague title such as “Dialogue is broken.” If separate problems occur in different quests or have different causes, file separate reports when the publisher recommends it; EA’s Battlefield guidance, for example, asks players to create separate threads for distinct bugs.

- What should happen instead:

- Evidence: Attach or link only if the channel accepts it.
For localization or voice-over problems
Use a dedicated localization, text, UI, or audio category if one exists. Bethesda’s ESO localization guidance separates UI/text reports from Audio / Voice Over reports: it asks for a screenshot for text or UI problems and asks players reporting audio or voice-over issues to describe when the issue occurs. It says a video URL may also be included. Those evidence directions apply to that Bethesda form; other publishers may accept different formats. For audio problems, a short recording can help communicate timing or overlapping lines, but only submit it through a channel that accepts it. The report should still explain what triggers the issue and what you hear; do not assume a recording alone provides enough context.

Know what to expect after submitting
A feedback form is not necessarily a customer-support ticket. Check the form’s description for whether it reaches support, developers, or a public forum, and whether it promises a reply. In ESO, Bethesda explicitly says in-game feedback is not sent to its support team and receives no response. That statement applies to that ESO route; it should not be generalized to other games.
