Where to report suspected CSAM
In the United States: NCMEC CyberTipline
Submit a report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, the U.S. centralized reporting system for suspected online child exploitation, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). NCMEC also lists a 24-hour call center at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678). NCMEC says its staff review reports, work to identify a potential location, and make information available to the appropriate law-enforcement agency for possible investigation; a report does not guarantee a particular outcome or response time.

Outside the United States: find the national hotline
Use INHOPE’s hotline locator to find the hotline or reporting portal for the relevant country. Procedures differ by country. INHOPE says reports can be anonymous, but check the local hotline’s own instructions for how it handles reports.
What to include in a report
Provide the page URL and relevant context through the official reporting portal. INHOPE advises keeping the webpage open only long enough to copy its URL. Do not attach or transmit the suspected material: INHOPE specifically says not to download, save, or share it, and not to send suspected CSAM files to INHOPE’s secretariat.

- Copy the webpage or account URL, if you can do so without opening or handling the material further.
- Describe where you encountered it and any relevant context the reporting form requests.
- Submit the information through the national hotline or official U.S. channel; do not post the link publicly or send it to other people.
INHOPE’s guidance puts the safety instruction plainly: “Do not download, save, or share the content, as that can be illegal.”
What not to do
- Do not investigate, try to identify the child or the person who posted the material, or contact the account.
- Do not download, save, screenshot, email, forward, repost, or publicly link to the material.
- Do not delay an emergency call while gathering information or filling out a web form.
Use the authorized reporting channel and follow its instructions. This guidance does not determine the law in any particular country; local definitions and procedures vary.
Should you report it to the platform too?
Platform reporting can be an additional route. NCMEC provides information about reporting directly to technology companies. Use it alongside the relevant hotline or law-enforcement report when appropriate, not instead of contacting emergency services if a child may be in immediate danger.

If you are seeking help with your own image, and it was made when you were under 18, NCMEC’s Take It Down is a separate support option. It is intended for people seeking help with their own images, not as a general way to submit evidence or report material depicting someone else.

That does not promise removal, an investigation, an arrest, or a set timeline. For international reports, the relevant national hotline’s procedures apply.
