If you find apparent leaked GTA 6 footage, report the exact post through the host platform first, then notify Rockstar Support. Do not download, repost, mirror, embed, or link to the video. Record only the URL, account name, date and time, platform, and a brief description. If you own the copyright or are an authorized agent, you may also send a formal DMCA notice to Take-Two; viewers and journalists should not sign an ownership declaration they cannot substantiate.
What to do when you find a GTA 6 leak
Use the following order, which gives the platform and rights holder a usable report without spreading the material:

- Preserve identifying details, not the file. Copy the exact post or video URL, the uploader’s account name, the platform, and the date and time you saw it. Add one sentence describing what appears on screen, such as pre-release gameplay, a cutscene, or dialogue. Do not save a local copy or make a screenshot that reproduces substantial footage.
- Report the specific post on its host platform. Open the platform’s report menu for that item and choose the copyright, intellectual-property, or unauthorized-content category when one is available. Reporting the individual URL is more useful than reporting only a profile.
- Send a separate report to Rockstar Customer Support. Rockstar’s Terms of Service direct users to in-game reporting tools or related Customer Support websites for reports about user material or conduct. Explain that the item appears to be pre-release material and provide the location details.
- Use the copyright contact when appropriate. Rockstar’s copyright policy lists [email protected] for copyright questions and requests directed to Take-Two. The policy states that pre-release leaked footage will be taken down regardless of how it was obtained.
- Reserve a DMCA notice for the rights holder or an authorized agent. A formal notice contains legal statements made under penalty of perjury. If you are only a viewer, moderator, journalist, or concerned user, use the ordinary reporting channels instead.
Choose the route that matches your role
The right channel depends on who you are, where the material is hosted, and whether you can legally make an ownership declaration.

Capture useful evidence without redistributing the footage
A removal team needs to find the same item you saw. Record the minimum metadata in a private note:

- the service or website hosting the post;
- the complete post, video, or page URL, including any identifier after the domain;
- the uploader’s displayed name and account handle;
- the date and time you observed the material, including your time zone;
- the post’s visible title or caption, if relevant; and
- a short neutral description of the apparent content and why it may be unauthorized.
Do not click through shortened links that hide the destination, and do not include a link to a repost in a public discussion. In a report, the URL belongs in the platform’s private form or in a direct message to the designated support channel, not in a social post that could increase the audience.
Report the exact item on the host platform
Platform interfaces differ, but the reporting workflow is usually tied to the individual post. Use this sequence:
- Open the original post or video page without downloading the media.
- Choose the page’s Report, Flag, or equivalent menu.
- Select Copyright, Intellectual property, or Unauthorized content when that category is offered. If the service has a separate copyright form, follow the link to that form rather than selecting a generic abuse reason.
- Enter the exact URL and uploader details. State that the item appears to contain pre-release game footage and identify the visible type of material.
- Submit the form and save its confirmation number or email, if provided. Keep that record with your private note so you can answer a follow-up without revisiting or sharing the clip.
If a platform asks whether you are the copyright owner, answer accurately. A viewer can report suspected infringement without selecting an option that says they own the work. If the platform offers a separate “unauthorized content” or “leaked material” choice, use it when it fits; do not force a copyright declaration simply because the clip is a leak.
Contact Rockstar Customer Support
Rockstar’s Terms of Service say reports about user material or conduct should go through in-game reporting tools or related Customer Support websites. Use the live support site’s current contact flow and explain that you are reporting a specific online post, not asking for access to the footage.

Information to include
- the host service and complete URL;
- the uploader or account name;
- when you observed the post;
- the category of material you saw, such as apparent pre-release gameplay, a story-ending video, an edited cutscene, or isolated in-game entertainment; and
- the fact that you have not copied or redistributed the file.
Rockstar’s Terms require a good-faith belief that the reported material violates the agreement. Use language tied to what you actually observed: “This post appears to show pre-release footage” is safer than asserting facts about the source or authenticity that you cannot establish. Attach no copy of the footage unless the support form specifically requires an upload and you are legally entitled to provide it.
Use the official copyright email for a direct request
Rockstar’s copyright policy identifies [email protected] as the address for copyright questions. A concise email can supplement the platform report when the post is spreading quickly or the platform form does not offer a suitable category.
A practical email structure
- Use a subject that identifies a suspected pre-release GTA 6 footage post and the host service.
- State that you are reporting a location, not submitting a claim of ownership, unless you truly are the owner or authorized agent.
- List the exact URL, account name, observation date and time, and one-sentence description.
- Explain that the item appears to be pre-release leaked footage and request review and removal under the applicable policy.
- Include your platform report confirmation number if one exists.
The policy’s removal language is unusually explicit: Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained.
Rockstar Customer Support lists this policy as last updated January 10, 2025, and warns that the examples are not exhaustive and may change. Check the live policy before relying on a particular category.
When a formal DMCA notice is appropriate
Use the formal process only if you are the copyright owner of the work at issue or an agent authorized to act for that owner. The fact that you discovered a leak, work for a news organization, or moderate a community does not by itself give you authority to make the required declaration.

Rockstar’s Terms of Service list six information elements for a notice. Omitting one can delay processing, while inventing ownership or authorization can expose the sender to liability.
The six required elements
- Identifying contact information. Give your name, physical address, telephone number, and email address.
- Description of the copyrighted work. Describe the work you claim was infringed in enough detail for Take-Two to identify it. Explain your relationship to the work and, if you are an agent, identify the owner you represent.
- Location of the allegedly infringing material. Supply the complete URL or a detailed description of where the material is located. List each location separately when there is more than one.
- Good-faith statement. State that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, the owner’s agent, or applicable law.
- Accuracy and authority statement under penalty of perjury. State that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Physical or electronic signature. Sign as the copyright owner or authorized agent. An electronic signature is acceptable under the policy.
Take-Two’s designated agent
Rockstar’s Terms identify the designated agent as: Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., Attention: DMCA Takedown Notice, 110 W 44th Street, New York, NY 10036, United States; telephone +1 (646)-536-2842; email [email protected].
Send the notice through the channel specified in the current Terms or policy, and retain a copy of exactly what you submitted. If the platform has its own copyright form, you may need to complete that form as well; a notice to Take-Two does not automatically remove material hosted by an unrelated service.

The policy is broader than a single kind of gameplay clip. It specifically says that the following may receive takedown notices:
- any in-game footage from a leaked copy posted before the official release date, regardless of how the copy was obtained;
- isolated videos revealing the story ending;
- edited cutscenes or compilations centered on plot dialogue; and
- isolated in-game entertainment.
These examples do not require you to decide whether a post is legally infringing. Describe what is visible and let Rockstar or the host service apply the policy. Rockstar also warns that the list is not exhaustive and may change, so a clip that does not fit one example can still warrant a report.

Do not overstate what you know
A URL and an observation are evidence of a location, not proof of who obtained the file, whether an account is authentic, or which copyright owner controls a particular element. Avoid naming a suspected hacker or asserting that a clip is genuine unless you have a reliable basis. Neutral wording helps the recipient act without turning your report into an unsupported accusation.
Understand the risk of a false DMCA statement
The DMCA section of Rockstar’s Terms warns that knowingly misrepresenting infringement can create liability for damages, including costs and attorney fees. It also warns that information in a notice may be provided to the person responsible for the material. That is why a viewer should use the ordinary report and support routes rather than signing a notice as an owner or agent.
Protect personal information
A formal notice requires contact details, so decide whether you are prepared for those details to be disclosed as described in the policy. Do not publish your address or telephone number in a public comment. Use only the official support or copyright channel, check the recipient address character by character, and keep confirmation emails private.
If the report form fails
Broken links, removed posts, and changing usernames are common with fast-moving leaks. Use a fallback that preserves accuracy:

Do not replace it with a different repost.
- If the platform’s menu has no copyright option, choose its closest unauthorized-content or safety category and explain the copyright concern in the description. Then send the same location details to Rockstar Support.
- If a form rejects a long URL, remove tracking parameters only if doing so leaves the exact post identifier intact; otherwise paste the complete URL in the description field.
- If you receive an automated response, keep the case number and reply in the same thread with corrections rather than opening multiple duplicate reports.
- If the account posts several separate URLs, list each one. A profile-level complaint may not identify every copy.
What to expect after submitting
The platform or rights holder may remove the post, restrict its visibility, request additional information, or determine that the item does not fall within its policy. You may not receive a detailed explanation, and a removal on one service does not remove copies elsewhere. If you are asked to verify ownership, provide documentation only when you are the owner or authorized agent; otherwise state that you are a reporting viewer and allow the rights holder to handle the claim.
Do not repeatedly revisit a removed post to test whether it is still available, and do not announce the URL’s status publicly. If you find a genuinely separate upload, treat it as a new location and report that URL through the same channels.
Why early GTA 6 footage is treated seriously
Take-Two’s Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024 states: In September 2022, we experienced a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from Rockstar Games’ systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.
That filing confirms the earlier intrusion, but it does not authenticate any particular current upload. A report should therefore identify the current post rather than rely on the historical incident as proof of its source.
A final decision checklist
- Have you recorded the exact host, URL, account name, observation time, and a short description?
- Have you avoided downloading, reposting, mirroring, embedding, or linking to the footage?
- Did you use the host platform’s copyright or unauthorized-content report for the individual post?
- Did you send the location to Rockstar Customer Support through its current support channel?
- Did you use [email protected] for a direct copyright question or request?
- Are you sending a DMCA notice only if you are the copyright owner or an authorized agent?
- If you are sending a notice, does it contain all six required elements and a truthful signature?
- Have you kept confirmation numbers and personal information private?
For most people, the complete response is the platform report plus a factual Rockstar Support report. The formal DMCA route is a separate legal process for the rights holder or an authorized representative, not a shortcut for ordinary viewers.
