To report harmful content, open the specific post, comment, message, video, or account and use that platform’s Report control. Choose the reason that most accurately describes your concern and submit it. A report asks the platform to review the item; it does not guarantee removal. You can check for an outcome in Facebook’s Support Inbox, TikTok’s inbox or Report Records, and Instagram’s Support Requests when the report appears there.
Before you report
Decide which specific item or account you want reviewed. A post, comment, message, video, or profile may each have its own reporting control. Choose the closest accurate reason from the platform’s list and provide any details it requests. “Harmful” describes your concern; the platform decides whether the content violates its rules.

Keep the item’s link, username, or other identifying details available in case you need to find it again. These details are practical aids, not a universal requirement for making an in-app report.
How to report on each platform
TikTok
- In the app: Open the post, tap Share or press and hold the post, then tap Report.
- Choose the reason that best fits. Select a subtopic if TikTok prompts you to do so, then submit the report.
- In a browser: Open the video, choose More options, select Report, choose a reason, and submit.
TikTok also accepts reports about comments and accounts. It says it does not disclose the reporter’s identity to the person reported. Menu labels and locations may change with app updates; follow the current on-screen prompts. TikTok’s post-reporting instructions describe the app and browser steps.

Open the relevant content or account and use its Report or Find Support/Report control, then follow the prompts to select a reason and submit. Facebook’s initial-report controls can differ across devices, so use the options shown on your screen rather than relying on one universal menu path.
Facebook says it reviews reports against its Community Standards. Facebook’s explanation of why reported content may remain available describes how it handles reports and possible further review.

Open the particular item or account and use its in-app reporting control. Choose the reason that best matches your concern and follow the prompts to submit. Menu wording and locations can vary by app version, device, language, and region, so follow the labels currently shown in Instagram rather than assuming a fixed path.

What happens after you submit a report?
The platform reviews the reported item against its policies and decides whether it violates them. Reporting is not a guarantee that content will be removed, and the cited platform guidance does not establish a response-time guarantee. Facebook says it will notify the reporter whether the item did or did not violate its standards. TikTok may send progress updates to the reporter’s inbox.

If a platform leaves the content up, that does not necessarily mean you cannot take another step: some decisions offer a further review, but that option is not available for every case or content type.
Where to check a report’s status
- Facebook: Open the Support Inbox to see report status and any notification. If the content remains up, Facebook usually offers a way to request another review, though not for every content type. Meta’s Safety Center information on reporting tools also identifies the Support Inbox as a place to check Facebook report status.
- TikTok: Look for updates in your inbox, or open Settings and Privacy > Support > Safety Center > Report Records. Labels may vary after app updates. TikTok’s reporting guidance describes these status locations and its reporting process.
- Instagram: Check Support Requests for reports shown there. You may be able to review the decision and request another review when that option is available. Instagram notes that not every submitted report necessarily appears in this area. Its Help Center guidance on checking reported-content status describes those limits.
If the content is still visible
Check the status area for the platform’s decision and whether it offers another review. If an option appears, use it and provide any requested information. A further review is platform- and case-dependent; submitting repeated reports does not guarantee that the content will be removed.

Reporting seeks a policy review. If you also want to limit what you see or who can contact you, use the platform’s separate feed or account controls, such as hiding content or blocking an account. Those controls do not replace a report when you want the platform to assess a possible policy violation.
