Report suspicious Rockstar account activity to Rockstar Support, too. If you gave away money, credentials, identity information, or device access, take the relevant recovery steps and report the harm through the appropriate official channel. A report can help alert platforms and authorities, but it does not guarantee a takedown or reimbursement.
What should you do first?
- Stop interacting with the offer. Do not enter passwords, payment details, or recovery codes, and do not download a supposed beta or installer from the suspicious page.
- Preserve enough information to report it. Note the account or channel name, the content’s URL as displayed in the platform, the date, and what the offer asked you to do. Keep relevant messages or screenshots if safe to do so. Do not repost the suspicious link to warn others.
- Verify independently. If you want to check an announcement, navigate to a known genuine Rockstar site or account yourself. The FTC advises contacting a company through a phone number or website you know is real, rather than using the link in a surprising message: How To Recognize and Avoid Phishing Scams.
- Report the item where it appeared. Use the service’s own report function on the specific video, post, message, advertisement, or account.
- Escalate based on what was exposed. Use Rockstar Support for Rockstar account concerns, and government or payment-provider channels if the incident involved money or identity information.
Where do I report a fake GTA 6 gameplay video?
YouTube videos and Shorts
Open the video or Short, select its More menu, choose Report, select the closest applicable reason, and provide useful details such as relevant timestamps. YouTube reviews reports; a report does not automatically remove content. Report the individual video that appears to violate policy: reporting a channel does not cause YouTube to review all of that channel’s videos. See YouTube’s instructions for reporting inappropriate videos, channels and other content.

Other platforms
For TikTok, Instagram, X, Discord, or another service, use that service’s in-app or website reporting control for the specific content or account. The exact steps and available report reasons vary by platform. If a post links to a suspicious download or requests account details, describe that observed behavior in your report rather than relying only on its “GTA 6 gameplay” label.

When should you contact Rockstar Support?
Report suspicious activity involving your Rockstar account to Rockstar Support. Rockstar warns about emails impersonating official messages and third-party services that ask for Rockstar account information. Do not use contact details or sign-in links supplied by the suspicious message.

Rockstar’s GTA Online reporting tools are for behavior and content within GTA Online; they are not a way to report an external scam website. Rockstar also has guidance on reporting GTA Online account-boosting scams.
A video’s claim to show gameplay is not, by itself, proof that it is a scam. Rockstar says fan gameplay uploads are generally welcome, while footage from leaked copies before official release will be taken down under its copyright policy. Report the specific conduct you observed—such as a credential request or a download presented as a beta—instead of treating every gameplay clip as fraudulent.

What if you paid, shared personal information, or lost access?
If you sent money
Contact the bank, card issuer, payment app, or other payment provider promptly through its trusted official channel. Ask what options apply to that payment and situation; recovery is not guaranteed. In the United States, report the scam at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The FTC says reports help it build cases, identify trends, and educate the public, but filing does not promise resolution of an individual loss. Its ReportFraud.ftc.gov walkthrough explains the reporting process; provide as much personal information as you are comfortable sharing.

If you shared identity information
For identity theft in the United States, use IdentityTheft.gov for reporting and recovery guidance. If you are outside the United States, use your country’s relevant identity-theft or consumer-protection authority.

If you entered a password or recovery code
If you can still access the affected account, change its password and change any other account password you reused. Then enable two-factor authentication. If you can no longer sign in, use the service’s official account-recovery process rather than a recovery link sent by the suspicious party. The FTC’s phishing guidance also recommends contacting companies through known genuine routes.
If you downloaded or opened a file
If a link or attachment may have installed harmful software, update your security software, run a scan, and remove identified threats. Avoid signing in to sensitive accounts from a device you believe may be compromised until you have addressed the threat.

What is known about fake GTA 6 demo links?
In August 2026, Malwarebytes reported fake GTA VI demo pages that copied a genuine announcement and used “Play Now” links that could deliver an executable presented as an installer, named gta6_installer.exe. This is Malwarebytes’ threat analysis, not a finding attributed to Rockstar; it does not mean every gameplay clip or GTA 6 link is malicious. Read the Malwarebytes report.
