Choose the right Roblox response first
There are two related but different actions:
- Report Abuse: Use this for a scam message, chat, user action, experience, catalog item, exploit offer, or other rule violation. Report the specific thing whenever possible so moderators can see the relevant context.
- Account recovery: Use Roblox Support when you cannot sign in, believe someone changed your credentials, or need help after an account takeover. Reporting a scam does not automatically restore access or return items.
Roblox Support describes Report Abuse as “the best way to let us know about rule-breakers and bad content.” The exact buttons can move as Roblox updates its app or website, but the principle remains the same: report the content or conduct, not merely a profile with no explanation.

Report promptly while the message, item, experience, or account activity is still available. Do not wait for a scammer to keep contacting you or send additional items so you can build a larger case. A concise, accurate report made from the relevant Roblox screen is more useful than a profile link by itself.
Where did the scam happen?
Use the route that matches the place where you saw the scam. This gives Roblox the object, message, or behavior needed for review.

Roblox’s current reporting instructions are in How to Report Rule Violations. Device layouts and labels may differ slightly from these paths. If a label has moved, look for the flag, three-dot menu, Report tab, or Report Abuse option associated with the actual content.
How to report a scam inside a Roblox experience
Report a player’s behavior
- Join the experience and open the in-experience menu.
- Select the flag beside the player’s name, or open the Report tab.
- Choose Person as the report type.
- Identify the user involved.
- Select the reason that best describes the scam.
- Write a short, factual description of what the user did, including the offer, request, link, or instruction that made it suspicious.
- Submit the report.
Describe the conduct rather than using only a label such as “scammer.” For example, explain that the player promised free Robux, asked for a password or cookie, directed you to a non-Roblox website, or proposed an item trade outside Roblox’s official systems. Do not include your password, 2-Step Verification code, backup code, browser cookie, or other secret in the description.
If several people are involved, identify each relevant username and explain each person’s action rather than submitting one vague accusation. If the same user sent a separate chat message or posted a catalog item, report those specific objects through their own menus as well.

Report the experience itself
If the scam is built into the experience—for example, the experience displays a deceptive prompt or repeatedly directs players to a dangerous site—choose Experience rather than Person. Roblox can then review the experience as the reported content. You can still report a particular player separately if that person is soliciting victims inside it.
How to report an experience, catalog item, or library item
Experience page
Open the experience’s page, go to its About section, and use Report Abuse. State what the experience does and where the scam appears. If a particular player is also soliciting victims, report that player separately from inside the experience when possible.
Useful details include the experience name, the misleading prompt or reward, and whether it directs players to a site outside Roblox. Do not follow the link again just to copy it; describe it from the message or screen you already saw.
Catalog or library item
- Open the item’s page.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Report item.
- Complete the form with the reason and a concise explanation.
- Submit it.
Report the actual asset—such as a shirt, model, image, or other library item—rather than only the creator’s profile. Include the misleading promise or unsafe instruction that appears in the item or its description. If a user also sent you a related message, report that message or user through chat as a separate, context-rich report.
How to report a scam message or chat
Browser chat
- Open Chat Details.
- Use the menu beside the relevant user.
- Choose Report.
- Complete the Report Abuse form and submit it.
Mobile chat
- Open the chat’s participant list.
- Use the menu beside the person involved.
- Choose Report Abuse.
- Provide the reason and a factual description, then send the report.
Report the message or conversation that contains the scam whenever the interface allows it. A message-specific report gives moderators the surrounding context that a bare user-profile report may lack. Mention whether the message promised free Robux or subscriptions, requested a credential or code, supplied an off-site link, or pushed an exploit download.
After submitting, stop responding. You can block or mute the account if appropriate, but blocking is not a replacement for reporting the content that violated the rules.

What counts as a Roblox scam?
Roblox warns that promises of free Robux, free subscriptions, valuable items, “codes,” or shortcuts are scams. Roblox Support states, “There is no such thing as free Robux or subscription offers, tricks, or codes.” Treat an offer as suspicious when it requires you to leave Roblox, install a file or browser extension, provide credentials, or send an item or payment first.
- Credential requests: Someone asks for your password, browser cookie, 2-Step Verification code, backup code, or other account secret.
- Off-site links: A message sends you to a page that imitates Roblox, promises a reward after you sign in, or asks you to complete unrelated surveys.
- Exploit offers: A user promises an exploit, script, cheat, or “free item” download. Roblox warns that these files can contain malware such as keyloggers or phishing programs.
- Unofficial trades: Someone asks you to transfer items, currency, or access outside Roblox’s official trading systems.
- Impersonation: A person claims to be Roblox staff or a helper and asks for information Roblox employees would not request.
A legitimate-looking username, screenshot, badge, or promise of urgency does not make an offer safe. Roblox says its employees will not ask for passwords, cookies, 2-Step Verification codes, backup codes, or similarly sensitive information. Do not trust a person merely because they claim to be a moderator, developer, trader, or “recovery agent.”

Save the relevant username, experience or item name, message text, and link for your own reference if it is safe to do so. Do not revisit a malicious page merely to collect evidence. Never publish another player’s personal information or encourage others to confront them.
What to do immediately after clicking a suspicious link
If you only viewed a link and did not enter information or download anything, close it and report the message. If you entered a password, downloaded a file, installed an extension, or gave someone a code, treat the account and device as potentially compromised.
- Stop interacting with the scammer. Do not negotiate, send more items, or provide additional information.
- Remove suspicious software. Uninstall off-site downloads and browser extensions that appeared after the incident.
- Run a full malware scan. Restart the device and scan again, following the security software’s instructions if it detects a threat.
- Change your Roblox password. Use a new password that you do not use on another service.
- Enable 2-Step Verification. Turn it on in Roblox account security settings after you regain control.
- Review your account. Check email, sessions, inventory, trades, and settings for changes you did not make.
- Contact Roblox Support if access is still unavailable or the reset fails.
Do not continue signing in from a device that may still contain a keylogger. Clean the device first, then change credentials from a trusted environment. Roblox cautions that it does not create browser extensions, so remove extensions offered as “Roblox helpers,” reward tools, or exploit utilities and scan before using the device again.
Scanning software can help identify malware, but Roblox does not require a paid security product for reporting or account recovery. The essential actions are to remove suspicious software, scan the device, change the password, and secure the account.

How to contact Roblox Support after an account hack
Start with Roblox’s official recovery guidance: My account was hacked—What do I do? Follow the self-service password-reset steps first. If the reset does not work, use the Support contact route provided by Roblox and explain that the account may have been compromised.
Use the official Roblox Help Center rather than a social-media account, chat room, or person promising faster recovery. A person who asks you to send a password, cookie, verification code, backup code, or remote-access information is not a safe substitute for Roblox Support.
Information that can help verify ownership
Roblox says the first email address added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment can help verify ownership. Supplying either one does not guarantee recovery, so provide accurate details and do not send passwords, cookies, 2-Step Verification codes, or backup codes.

Explain what changed, when you last had access, and which recovery steps you attempted. Keep the description factual. Do not exaggerate an unauthorized takeover if you knowingly completed a deal outside Roblox, because those situations are handled differently.

If you want Roblox to consider its limited assistance for lost inventory or approximate value, contact Roblox within 30 days of the compromise. Roblox says recovery is available only in very limited circumstances and is not guaranteed. This is a support-policy deadline, not a promise that items or value will be restored.
Contacting Support quickly is still sensible even when more than 30 days have passed, but do not describe the 30-day period as a guaranteed refund or recovery period.
Can Roblox recover items from an unofficial trade?
Usually, you should assume it cannot. Roblox says it cannot enforce a deal made outside its official systems or recover inventory lost in that kind of transaction. Report users who try to arrange such deals through Report Abuse, but do not send additional items in an attempt to reverse the loss.
When contacting Support about an account compromise, distinguish between an unauthorized account takeover and a trade you knowingly completed outside Roblox’s systems. Describe dates, usernames, items, and the sequence of events accurately; do not claim a theft that did not occur. Roblox’s inability to enforce an unofficial deal also means that a scammer’s promise to “return” items after another payment should be treated as a second scam.

Roblox’s account-safety guidance is available at Keep Your Account Safe. Its core rules are straightforward:
- Keep your password private and use a unique password.
- Never share browser cookies, 2-Step Verification codes, or backup codes.
- Do not disclose sensitive personal or computer information to people claiming to provide help.
- Roblox employees will not ask for these credentials.
- Roblox says it does not create browser extensions; avoid extensions offered as “Roblox helpers” or reward tools.
- Enter a password only on the genuine Roblox login page, not on a page reached through an unsolicited link.
Use Roblox’s Free Robux or Subscription Generators guidance when evaluating reward claims, and its Cheating and Exploiting guidance for exploit or script offers.
Do not let another person “verify” your account by asking you to copy a cookie, disable security, or install a file. Those requests expose the very information Roblox tells users to keep private.

A moderator needs enough context to identify the violation without guessing. Keep the report specific and chronological.

- Who: Include the exact username as shown in Roblox.
- Where: Name the experience, chat, item, or page.
- What happened: Quote the important promise or request in your own report, without including secrets.
- When: Give an approximate date and time if you know it.
- Why it is suspicious: Explain whether the user requested credentials, sent an off-site link, promised free Robux, offered an exploit download, or proposed an unofficial trade.
- Evidence: Use the in-product message, item, experience, or behavior report so Roblox can inspect the underlying content.
A concise description is better than a long emotional message. Do not threaten the other player, publish their personal information, or encourage others to harass them. Do not paste your own password, cookie, verification code, backup code, payment details, or other secret into a report or Support form.
For example: “At approximately 8 p.m. in [experience], this user promised free Robux if I signed in at an external link and asked for my password. The message also instructed me to install an extension.” That gives Roblox the behavior and context without exposing a credential.

Reporting only the profile
Problem: A profile report may not show what the person did. Fix: Return to the message, experience, item, or in-game behavior and report that specific content.
Continuing the conversation for “proof”
Problem: More replies can expose you to additional links or manipulation. Fix: Report the existing content, block or mute the user if appropriate, and stop responding.
Sending secrets to a supposed support agent
Problem: Off-platform recovery agents can steal the account. Fix: Use Roblox’s official Help Center and Support flow only. Never send passwords, cookies, codes, or backup codes.
Assuming a report guarantees punishment or a refund
Problem: Roblox does not promise a particular moderation decision or recovery result. Fix: Secure your account independently and keep realistic expectations about any Support review.
Waiting to contact Support
Problem: Delay can make recovery harder, and Roblox’s limited lost-inventory assistance has a 30-day contact window after compromise. Fix: Clean the device, reset credentials, enable 2-Step Verification, and contact Support promptly when self-service recovery fails.
Using an unofficial “Roblox Support” account
Problem: Scammers may impersonate support staff and request the same secrets they claim to protect. Fix: Navigate to Roblox’s Help Center yourself and use its official recovery and contact pages.
What happens after you submit a report?
Report Abuse sends the case to Roblox for review, but Roblox does not promise a specific action, response time, account sanction, or item recovery. Do not file repeated reports with different stories; if you have new information, use the appropriate official channel and explain what changed.
For a suspected account takeover, a Report Abuse submission and a Support request serve different purposes. The report flags the scammer or content; the Support request addresses your ability to access and secure your account. You may need both, and submitting one does not replace the other.
Roblox may change the interface, form names, or device paths. If a button is not exactly where described, use the current Help Center instructions and choose the control attached to the specific message, person, experience, or item.

- Did the scam occur in an experience? Use the in-experience flag or Report tab.
- Is the experience itself deceptive? Report the experience from its About page.
- Is a catalog or library asset involved? Use its three-dot menu and Report item.
- Was the scam in chat? Report the relevant person or message from browser or mobile chat.
- Did you share credentials, download software, or lose access? Clean the device, reset the password, enable 2-Step Verification, and contact Support.
- Was the deal outside Roblox’s official systems? Report the user, but do not expect Roblox to enforce the deal or recover the inventory.
- Did someone claiming to help ask for a password, cookie, code, or backup code? Stop communicating and use only Roblox’s official Support route.
