Report the post to the social network that hosts it and report the member or profile to the dating app. Save the post URL, account name, date and time, and unedited screenshots first if doing so is safe. Then describe exactly what was posted and select the closest truthful reason—such as harassment, threats, personal-information exposure, impersonation, or non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII). A screenshot or an unkind “roast” is not automatically illegal or against platform rules, so the category and context matter.
Do these four things first
- Preserve what is visible. Copy the social post URL, username or account handle, displayed name, and the date and time. Capture screenshots that show the post, surrounding context, and the account that published it. Keep an untouched copy of each file.
- Do not amplify the post. Do not quote-post, repost, or send the screenshot to more people than necessary. Crop or redact unrelated phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, or other personal details before sharing evidence with anyone who does not need the full image.
- Report to the host network. Use the network’s current in-app report control or official help form for the service where the screenshot or roast appears. The exact button names differ by service; verify the current help route for that network rather than following instructions for a different app.
- Report the dating-app account or conduct. Send a separate report through the dating app, even when the social post itself cannot be removed by that app. Include the social post URL and screenshots when the form accepts them.
These are two different reviews. The social network controls the post, while the dating app can review the member, profile, messages, or conduct that originated there. Neither service can be assumed to remove material hosted by the other, reveal an account holder, or impose a particular penalty.

Decide what kind of post you are reporting
Choose the most accurate category before submitting a form. A factual description helps a reviewer find the relevant policy and avoids turning a personal disagreement into an unsupported accusation.

Being embarrassed, angry, or ignored does not by itself prove a rule violation. Tinder’s safety guidance specifically says not to report someone merely because they did not reply or because of their race, gender, or sexual orientation. Use those facts only when they are relevant to the conduct you are reporting.

How to report the dating-app side on Tinder
The following routes are documented for Tinder. Other dating apps may use different menus and forms, so do not assume these labels apply elsewhere.
Before matching or from Discovery
- Open the person’s profile in Discovery.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Choose Report.
- Select the reason that most closely describes the conduct and provide the requested context.
Tinder says individual profile content can also be reported from the content’s own menu. If a particular photo, bio, or other item is the problem, identify that item rather than describing the entire profile in general terms.
After matching
- Open the match’s conversation.
- Open the chat menu.
- Choose the report option and submit the relevant reason.
If the conversation moved off Tinder, Tinder’s safety guidance still allows reporting harassment or sexually explicit content sent without consent. Include where the conduct happened and attach the social post URL or screenshots when possible.

Tinder’s safety guidance says online reporting remains available even when you can no longer see the profile or the match has disappeared. Use Tinder’s contact or report form, identify the member as precisely as you can, and explain that the in-app profile is no longer visible.

What to include in a Tinder contact or email report
Tinder’s reporting help page, updated December 27, 2024, asks for the reason, the exact displayed name, age, bio, and photos, plus any known location, phone number, or email. It says screenshots are best. Add the following details in a short chronology:
- When you first saw the dating profile and when the social post appeared.
- The dating-app profile’s displayed identifiers and the member’s username, if known.
- The social network, post URL, account name, and any separate URLs for copies.
- What the post actually says or shows, using quotation marks for important words.
- Why the material fits the selected category, such as a threat, exposed phone number, impersonation, or intimate image.
- Whether you are the person depicted or are reporting for someone else.
Separate observation from interpretation. “The post displays my phone number and asks followers to call me” is more useful than “This person is dangerous.” Do not alter the original evidence; if you need to obscure unrelated information in a copy, keep the complete original separately.
When the post is harassment, a threat, or doxxing
Harassment and repeated targeting
Report the pattern, not only the worst sentence. List the account names, dates, links, and how the posts connect. If the person contacted you on the dating app and then continued on social media, say so. Tinder describes possible responses as automated intervention, Trust & Safety review, or both. If a violation is confirmed, it may remove content, issue a warning, or ban an account; those are possible actions, not guaranteed outcomes.

Threats, stalking, or immediate danger
Save evidence without engaging the poster. Use the host network’s urgent safety path if it has one and submit the dating-app report. If you face an immediate threat, stalking, or danger, contact local emergency services or a qualified local support organization. The appropriate legal and emergency route depends on your country and circumstances; a platform report is not a substitute for urgent help.

Personal information and doxxing
Identify every exposed detail and explain the risk it creates. Ask the host network to review the post and any comments that repeat the information. Avoid reposting the material while asking others to help; every new copy can increase exposure. If the information is an address, workplace, school, live location, or other detail that could facilitate contact, say that plainly in the report.
How NCII reporting differs from an ordinary screenshot
A normal profile screenshot or a cruel roast is not automatically NCII. Tinder defines non-consensual intimate imagery as intimate images or videos shared without the depicted person’s consent, including real, digitally altered, or AI-generated material. “Intimate” generally refers to nudity or sexually explicit conduct. A face photo, dating bio, or insulting caption does not meet that definition merely because it is embarrassing.
Use the dedicated intimate-image process when it fits
Tinder has a separate form for intimate images, intimate deepfakes, and repeat sharing. Provide the name or profile that helps locate the content, where it appeared, links, and screenshots. State whether you are the person depicted or an authorized representative. Also report the post to the social network hosting it; Tinder cannot directly remove a post from another service.

The 48-hour statement is limited
Tinder’s NCII article, updated June 25, 2026, says that under U.S. law it must remove content after a valid removal request from the depicted person or an authorized representative as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours. It also says it will make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies on Tinder. This statement is U.S.-specific and applies to the NCII process described on that page. Do not extend the 48-hour claim to ordinary profile screenshots, general roast posts, other platforms, or jurisdictions without checking the applicable rules.

Tinder points to a U.S. helpline resource and StopNCII.org as optional support. Those resources do not replace emergency assistance or a report to the service hosting the material.
What evidence to collect and how to send it safely

Do not manufacture evidence, edit words into a screenshot, or submit multiple malicious reports to overwhelm a review system. Tinder says reports are confidential, with rare exceptions required by law. Its help page says a reported user may receive a generic account-review notice but will not receive the reporter’s identity or report contents. Tinder also warns that false or malicious reports can result in a ban.

Do not collapse these procedures into one universal report. A dating app may investigate a member but cannot promise removal of a social post, while a social network may remove a post without taking action against the dating profile.
How to write a concise, credible report
Use a factual structure that a reviewer can scan:
- Identify the location: “This post is at [full URL] from account [exact handle].” Put the real URL in the form; the bracketed wording here is only a description of the field.
- State what appears: describe the profile image, text, comments, personal information, threat, or intimate material.
- State the connection: identify the dating-app profile or member and explain how you know it is the same person, without guessing about identity.
- Choose the narrowest accurate reason: harassment, threat, personal-information exposure, impersonation, or NCII, as applicable.
- Explain the harm or risk: note repeated contact, an invitation for others to contact you, exposed location data, or non-consensual sexual material.
- Attach evidence: include screenshots and the chronology requested by the form.
Keep the tone neutral. A reviewer needs verifiable facts, not insults, speculation about motives, or a demand for a guaranteed ban.
What screenshot protection can and cannot do
Tinder’s screenshot and screen-recording protection is available only in select regions. Its September 7, 2026 help article says capture is completely blocked on Android in covered use, while iOS blocks capture while profiles are present. Tinder also cautions that no technology can completely prevent profile content from being captured or shared, including by using another device.
That limitation matters after an image has already been posted: a prevention feature does not erase copies, identify the person who used another camera, or guarantee removal from social media. Continue to use the reporting and evidence steps above.
After you submit
- Save the report confirmation, case number, and date submitted.
- Keep monitoring for copies without repeatedly opening or sharing the humiliating material.
- If a post is removed but reappears, report the new URL and mention the prior case number.
- If the service asks for more information, answer only what is necessary and avoid sending unrelated personal data.
- If the situation escalates to threats, stalking, or immediate danger, use local emergency or specialist support rather than waiting for platform review.
Platform review times and outcomes vary. Tinder’s stated process may involve automated intervention, human Trust & Safety review, or both, and the company does not promise a specific result for every report.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Reporting only one service: the dating app and the social network have different control over the material.
- Calling every roast illegal: embarrassment alone does not establish a legal or policy violation.
- Selecting a false category: use the closest truthful reason; do not claim NCII when the image is not intimate.
- Deleting the only evidence: preserve an original before blocking, muting, or deleting messages.
- Publicly identifying the poster: retaliation can spread the content and create additional risk.
- Assuming a blocked screenshot is impossible: another device can still photograph a screen.
- Expecting a dating app to remove third-party content: report the host network directly.
Key distinctions to keep in mind
An ordinary profile screenshot, an insulting caption, a threat, doxxing, impersonation, and NCII are different fact patterns. They may trigger different forms, evidence requirements, and legal considerations. Tinder’s confidentiality statement, review options, and U.S.-specific NCII timing apply to Tinder’s own processes; they do not automatically govern another platform or your local law. When the facts involve privacy, defamation, image rights, harassment, or criminal threats, obtain advice for your jurisdiction instead of assuming a platform label settles the legal question.
