Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsOn a computer, open the playlist, click and hold near the video or Short’s thumbnail, then drag it up or down and release it where you want it. The change reorders the playlist itself; dragging items in the playlist panel on a watch page only changes their order temporarily.
Reorder a playlist on YouTube
- Open the YouTube playlist you want to change.
- Click and hold near the thumbnail of the video or Short you want to move.
- Drag the item up or down to its new position, then release it. YouTube’s desktop instructions describe this drag-and-drop method in Edit playlists – Computer.
Open a playlist for editing from YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, open Content, then select Playlists.
- Open the menu for the playlist you want to change and choose Edit on YouTube.
- In the opened playlist, drag the video or Short by its thumbnail to the desired position.
YouTube documents this Studio route in its help page on creating and managing playlists.

Why the order may not change or stay changed
Watch-page playlist panel
Dragging an item in the playlist panel beside a video on its watch page is a temporary reorder, not a change to the playlist’s saved order. To change the playlist itself, open the playlist and reorder the item there.
A playlist contains only Shorts
YouTube says reordering is unavailable for playlists that contain only YouTube Shorts. The option may be available when a playlist includes videos as well as Shorts; YouTube’s help page does not promise that every mixed playlist can be reordered in every account or interface. See YouTube’s playlist editing guidance.

Supervised account
YouTube cautions that playlist editing may not be available for supervised accounts. If the drag control is missing, account supervision may explain why.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the reason you are arranging a playlist is to keep pre-recorded videos running as a YouTube livestream, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded content from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Your video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not a camera-based livestream. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
