Google: sign in to the specific Google Account, open its list of third-party connections, select the app, choose Remove access, and confirm. Check both profile sign-in connections and permissions to services such as Gmail or Drive. Revocation stops future access; it does not necessarily erase data the app already copied.
For personal Apple Accounts and Microsoft accounts, the exact current consumer navigation is not established by the official material available for this guide. Apple’s located page concerns education privacy, not personal “Sign in with Apple” settings, and no applicable Microsoft consumer procedure was verified. The safe approach is to use each provider’s current account documentation and distinguish personal accounts from work or school accounts rather than follow guessed menus.

What third-party access actually covers
A connection between an account and an outside app can mean several different things. The app may have received only basic profile details for sign-in, or it may have separately authorized access to services and data. Google says approved permissions can include Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Photos and Contacts.
Permissions also differ in capability. Depending on what you approved, an app might be able to view or copy information, or manage it by editing, uploading, creating or deleting content. Read the permission details attached to each connection instead of assuming that every “connected app” has the same reach.

| Google connection type | What may be shared or permitted | What removing the connection does | Separate action that may still be needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign in with Google | Your name, email address and profile picture after you grant consent; Google does not share your Google Account password. | Stops continued use of Sign in with Google for that app and stops new profile updates from being shared. | Ask the app to delete information it already holds. |
| Access to Google services | Access to services such as Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Photos or Contacts, with permissions that may allow viewing, copying or managing data. | Google says the linked app can no longer access your data after access is revoked. | Review the app’s own privacy or account-deletion process for retained copies. |
| App password | A separately created password that can let a legacy app or device connect. | Revoking the app password cuts off that credential. | Check app passwords separately; this is not the ordinary Sign in with Google flow. |
Google may label a connection with wording such as “App name has some access to your Google Account.” That wording is a reason to open the details, not evidence that the app has full account control.
Before you revoke anything
Start by identifying the exact account and the service you are investigating. A browser or phone can hold several Google, Apple or Microsoft identities at once, and a connection list applies only to the account currently selected. Note the email address or other account identifier shown in the provider’s account interface.
Then record what the app does and which sign-in method it uses. An app can use a profile-based sign-in, a separate permission to a cloud service, or a credential such as a Google app password. These are not interchangeable. If you still rely on the integration, check whether the service offers another sign-in or connection method before removing it; revocation can stop the integration from functioning.

Open the permission details and compare the requested data with the app’s purpose. A tool that only receives a profile name and email has a narrower scope than an integration authorized to read, copy, edit, upload, create or delete content in a Google service.
How to remove access from a Google Account
Perform these steps while signed in to the exact Google Account whose connections you want to change. If you use several Google Accounts, repeat the review for each one; changing one account does not review the others.
- Sign in to the relevant Google Account.
- Open Google’s list of apps and services with third-party access in Google Account Help.
- Find the app or service you no longer trust, use or recognize, and select it.
- Open the connection details and read the permissions shown. Look for whether the app can only use profile information or can reach services such as Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Photos or Contacts.
- Choose Remove access.
- Confirm the removal when Google asks.
Google’s documented flow may show more than one kind of connection. A profile-based Sign in with Google entry and a separate service-permission entry can represent different approvals, so inspect every relevant listing rather than stopping after the first removal.
Use the permission list to decide what to revoke
Start with connections that are unused, unfamiliar or broader than the app’s purpose requires. A calendar utility that can only read calendar data presents a different exposure from an integration that can create, edit or delete files. The permission description is the authoritative way to make that distinction for your account.

What happens to Sign in with Google
Google says Sign in with Google shares your name, email address and profile picture after permission, but not your Google Account password. Removing consent prevents that app from continuing to use Sign in with Google and stops new profile updates from being sent. It does not retrieve information that was already shared. For that information, Google directs users to the app itself; its guidance says, “If you want to delete the data and information you shared with the app, you’ll need to visit that app.” See Google’s Sign in with Google help.

Removing this connection may also mean that the app no longer recognizes the Google-based sign-in on your next visit. If you intend to keep the service, check its own sign-in or account-recovery options before revoking consent, and keep in mind that disconnecting a sign-in method is different from deleting the service account.
Revoking access is not the same as deleting data
Access revocation is a forward-looking permission change. Google states that once a linked app’s access is revoked, it cannot access your data anymore. That does not guarantee that the app has erased data it previously viewed, copied or stored.
Recommended Free Tools
- Future access: the revoked connection can no longer use the authorization to reach your Google data.
- Previously shared information: copies, exports, logs or account records already held by the app may remain.
- Deletion request: use the app developer’s privacy, support or account-deletion process and ask specifically for information associated with the connection.
Keep the two tasks separate: remove the Google connection first, then contact the app if you want its retained data deleted. The app may have its own legal retention period or deletion workflow, so revoking Google access alone is not proof that every copy has disappeared.
When contacting the developer, identify the account used with the app and request deletion of information obtained through the account connection. Save the request and any confirmation. If the service requires you to close its own account, treat that as an additional step rather than a substitute for revoking the provider connection.
Do not confuse app-account deletion with Google connection removal
Deleting an account you created with a third-party service does not itself remove that service from your Google Account’s connections. Google says that to stop sharing, you must remove the connection through Google’s connection-management controls.
The reverse is also true: removing the connection does not automatically delete the third party’s account or all information it already stores. If you still need the service, removing access may prevent its Google-based sign-in or integration from working; if you no longer need it, handle account deletion with the service after revoking access.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Check Google app passwords separately
App passwords are a separate, legacy-style access method for some apps or devices. They are not the normal Sign in with Google authorization and may not appear as the same kind of connection.
Google does not recommend app passwords in most cases and says they should be revoked when an app or device is no longer used. If you ever created one, review Google’s dedicated app-password guidance and revoke the unused credential there. Do not assume that removing a Sign in with Google connection also handles an app password.
If you do not remember creating an app password, do not invent a cleanup step based solely on a third-party app’s name. Look for an actual app-password entry in Google’s account controls. The ordinary connection-removal flow and the app-password control address different authorization mechanisms.

Apple Accounts: what can be verified
The available Apple support material does not establish a current click-by-click procedure for reviewing and revoking personal Apple Account connections. The located Apple Support page discusses approval and revocation in an education privacy context. It is not evidence for the personal “Sign in with Apple” account-management screens, labels or consequences.
For a personal Apple Account, use Apple’s current consumer support documentation for Sign in with Apple and verify all of the following before you act:
- that you are signed in to the intended Apple Account;
- where Apple currently lists apps using Sign in with Apple;
- which control revokes that app’s authorization;
- whether the app received a private relay email address or other account details;
- what Apple says about information the developer may already retain.
Do not substitute the education instructions for personal-account navigation, and do not assume Apple exposes the same permission categories or wording as Google. After revocation, contact the app separately if your goal is deletion of data it already possesses.
If an Apple listing is missing or the labels differ from older instructions, stop and confirm the account type and current Apple documentation instead of selecting a similarly named control. Personal and managed environments can present different screens, and a consumer article should not turn an education workflow into a universal one.
Microsoft accounts: verify the account type and current controls
No applicable Microsoft consumer support procedure was verified for this guide. That means an exact personal-account path, the current button name and the documented data-retention effect should not be supplied from memory.
Before removing a Microsoft-connected app, establish whether the account is a personal Microsoft account or a work or school account. Administrators can expose different controls and policies in organizational environments. Use Microsoft’s current official documentation for the matching account type and confirm:
- where connected applications are listed;
- which authorization or consent entry belongs to the app;
- the exact revoke or remove control;
- whether revocation affects only future access or also triggers a documented deletion process;
- whether the app must separately delete information already received.
Do not treat a password change as a confirmed replacement for revoking an app authorization. The available guidance does not establish that changing a password automatically removes every third-party consent.
For a work or school identity, check whether an administrator manages application consent. Do not assume that a control available to an administrator appears for an individual user, or that a personal-account article applies to an organizational tenant. Record the account type before following any Microsoft instructions.
A provider-neutral review checklist
These checks help prevent an incomplete cleanup without pretending that Google, Apple and Microsoft use identical menus.

- Identify the account: note the exact email address or account identity currently signed in. Repeat the review for every account you use.
- Inventory the connection: record the app name, the sign-in method and the services or data listed in its permissions.
- Separate credentials from consent: look for both an authorization entry and any separately created app password or device credential.
- Decide whether the app is still needed: an unused or unfamiliar connection is a stronger revocation candidate than an integration you actively rely on.
- Revoke using the provider’s verified control: follow the provider-specific instructions, not a generic menu path copied from another account type.
- Request deletion separately: if the app may retain personal information, use its privacy or account-deletion channel.
- Check dependent services: revoking access can stop an integration or federated sign-in from working, so be ready to use the service’s own recovery or sign-in method.
Keep a simple completion record
For each app, note the account reviewed, the permission or credential removed, the date of revocation and whether a deletion request was sent. This is especially useful when the same app is connected to more than one account or when a family or work device has multiple profiles. The record does not replace the provider’s confirmation, but it helps you avoid reviewing one identity while leaving another connected.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Reviewing the wrong account
Browsers and phones often keep several accounts signed in. The connection list belongs to the account currently selected. Confirm the account identity before revoking anything, then repeat the check for other accounts.
Removing only one of several Google entries
Sign in with Google and broader Google-service permissions are related but distinct. If an app appears in more than one connection category, inspect each entry and remove the approvals you no longer want.
Assuming every app can read everything
Permission scope is not uniform. Some apps receive basic profile information; others can read, copy or manage specific services. Open the details before deciding whether the exposure is acceptable.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Expecting revocation to erase old data
Revocation prevents future access. It does not necessarily remove copies already held by the developer. Make a separate deletion request through the app.
Deleting the app account but leaving the authorization
Closing a third-party account does not itself remove its Google connection. Use the account provider’s connection-management controls as a separate step.
Using a password change as the cleanup plan
A password change is not documented here as a universal way to revoke third-party authorizations. Review and remove the authorization itself, and check separately for app passwords or other credentials you created.
Assuming Apple or Microsoft menus match Google
Provider names and permission categories are not interchangeable. A Google instruction can explain the distinction between profile sign-in and service access, but it cannot establish the current Apple or Microsoft navigation. Use the provider’s own documentation for the account type you actually have.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Forgetting the developer’s copy
Stopping access at the account provider does not prove that the developer deleted earlier exports, profile records or logs. If deletion matters, submit a separate request through the app’s privacy or support channel and keep any response.
Best Value
What a complete cleanup looks like
For Google, completion means the relevant app entries no longer have the permissions you intended to withdraw, any unused app password has been revoked, and the developer has received a separate deletion request if you want previously shared information removed.
For Apple and Microsoft, completion depends on the current official instructions for the specific account type. Verify the provider’s listing and revoke control first; then apply the same separation between stopping future access and requesting deletion of data already held by the app.
Finally, test only what you need to test. If the app is still required, confirm that its remaining sign-in or integration works through the method you intend to keep. If it is no longer needed, finish the service’s own account-closure process after the authorization has been removed. That sequence limits future access while treating stored data as a separate privacy question.

How do I remove third-party app access to my Google Account?
Sign in to the specific Google Account, open Google’s list of apps and services with third-party access, select the app, open its details, choose Remove access, and confirm. Review every relevant entry because profile sign-in and Google-service permissions can be separate connections.
How do I see which apps are connected to my Google Account?
Use Google’s account-connections list while signed in to the account you want to inspect. Open each app entry to see the services and operations it was authorized to use; repeat for any other Google Accounts you use.
Does removing an app’s access delete my data?
No. Revocation stops the app from using the authorization to reach your Google data, but information it already copied or stored may remain. Contact the app through its privacy, support or account-deletion process to request deletion.
Does Sign in with Google share my password?
Google says Sign in with Google shares your name, email address and profile picture after consent, not your Google Account password. Removing consent stops continued use and new profile updates, but does not retrieve information already shared.
Is deleting the third-party app account enough?
No. Google says deleting the third-party account does not itself remove the Google connection. Remove the connection through Google’s account controls, then handle the app’s own account or data deletion separately.
Are Google app passwords the same as connected-app access?
No. An app password is a separate credential for some apps or devices. Google says app passwords are not recommended in most cases and should be revoked when no longer used; check them separately from Sign in with Google connections.
Can I use the Google steps for Apple or Microsoft?
No. Apple and Microsoft may use different account types, labels and controls. Use current official instructions for the specific personal, work or school account instead of copying Google’s menu path.
Will changing my account password revoke every app authorization?
Do not assume so. The documented guidance here does not establish a password change as a universal replacement for revoking third-party consent. Review the authorization list and any separately created credentials directly.
