To remove one unwanted word from Samsung Keyboard, touch and hold it in the suggestion bar, then confirm its removal. To hide suggestions more broadly, turn off Predictive text or the phrase-suggestion control. To clear learned predictions in bulk, use Erase personalized predictions in the keyboard’s reset options.
Remove one suggested word
- Open an app where Samsung Keyboard appears and wait for the unwanted word to show in the suggestion bar.
- Touch and hold the word. Samsung UK’s instructions say to “tap and hold the word.”
- When prompted, confirm that you want to remove it from learned words.
This removes the selected learned word from suggestions; Samsung does not promise that it cannot be learned again through future typing. See Samsung UK’s instructions for predictive text.
Turn off suggestions more broadly
- Open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Switch off Predictive text, or the equivalent phrase-suggestion control shown on your device.
Predictive suggestions and auto replace are separate controls: turning off suggestions does not necessarily mean you must turn off auto replace. The available options depend on the device and software version. Samsung’s phrase-suggestion guide and UK predictive-text guide describe these settings.
Erase learned predictions in bulk
- Open Settings and search for Samsung Keyboard.
- Open its settings, scroll to Reset to default settings, and select Erase personalized predictions.
- Confirm by selecting Erase.
This option clears learned words used for prediction. It is different from resetting all keyboard settings, clearing the keyboard cache, or deleting personalized touch-recognition data; those are separate options. The menu labels and route here follow Samsung US’s Galaxy keyboard settings guidance.

If the setting or word does not appear
- Settings look different: Search Settings for Samsung Keyboard. On some older devices, keyboard controls may instead be under Language and input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > Smart typing or a related menu.
- The unwanted word remains: Make sure it is in the Samsung Keyboard suggestion bar, then touch and hold that exact item when it appears and confirm removal.
- You want a fresh start for prediction: Use Erase personalized predictions, rather than clearing cache or resetting unrelated settings.
Samsung cautions that names, paths, and screen layouts vary by model, software, and app version. Some predictive-text options may be absent on older devices. Its 2025 Korean support guide also notes that the screens and menus can vary.
