How to remove or hide your home from Google Street View and Bing Maps

You can request a permanent blur for your house in Google Street View. Open the address in Google Maps, choose Report a Problem, select My home, verify that you are authorized, and submit redacted proof of address. Google reviews the request and may contact you by email.

Bing Maps uses a less specific process. Open the Streetside image and use Feedback; in some versions the control is labeled Report a privacy concern with this image. Microsoft does not promise that a report will remove the image or a search result, so treat Bing reporting as a request for review rather than a guaranteed deletion.

What you can actually hide

These tools affect imagery displayed by the individual mapping service. They do not erase your postal address, remove a property from public records, delete photographs hosted on another website, or take down copies saved by other people. A Google Street View blur and a Bing Streetside report also do not automatically change imagery on the other provider.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The practical objective is therefore narrower: identify who owns the image, report the exact view, and understand whether the service promises a particular result. If a listing, user photograph, aerial layer, or copied image is the real problem, it needs a separate request to the site or provider that published it.

Service Current route Evidence requested Documented outcome Important limitation
Google Street View Google Maps image viewer → Report a Problem → My home Redacted proof of address Google reviews the request and may email the requester The request covers the selected Google imagery, not other services or third-party copies
Bing Maps Streetside Streetside image → Feedback; some guidance shows Report a privacy concern with this image No equivalent document requirement is specified in the cited Bing guidance Microsoft reviews the submitted concern Microsoft says reporting a concern will not necessarily remove a URL or the underlying source content

Neither set of instructions identifies a charge for submitting a report. Use the providers’ own forms rather than paying a third party merely to file the same request. A broader address-privacy project may involve other services, but that is separate from hiding a Street View or Streetside image.

How to blur your house in Google Street View

1. Open the exact Street View image

  1. Go to Google Maps and search for the residential address.
  2. Open the Street View image that shows the house you want hidden. Check that you are reporting the correct facade, driveway, entrance, or other portion of the property.
  3. Use the image viewer’s Report a Problem control. The report must be made from the image itself, not merely from the map’s address listing.

Look around the 360-degree view before reporting. A house may appear from several positions on the road, and the concern may be visible only from one angle. The report should identify the image that actually exposes the home. If the concern is a visible car, person, or a particular body rather than the whole building, select and describe that subject accurately; Google allows requests involving a house, car, or body.

2. Choose the home option

  1. In the report form, select My home.
  2. Certify that you are authorized to request a blur for the property. This is intended for the resident, owner, or another person with authority to make the request.

Do not submit a home request for a neighbor’s property without authority. If the image includes several residences, identify the one covered by your request and explain which structure or section should be blurred. Correctly choosing the home category helps distinguish a residential privacy request from a problem with a road, business, map pin, or unrelated image.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Provide redacted proof of address

Google’s accepted examples are a utility bill, bank statement, lease, homeowners-insurance record, or property-tax record. Bills and statements should be dated within six months; a lease may be older.

Before uploading, cover your name, account numbers, payment details, health information, and other identifiers that are not needed to establish the property. Leave the residential address and the relevant date visible. Do not submit a handwritten document or a government ID.

  • Accepted file types: PNG, JPG, or PDF.
  • Maximum upload size: under 10 MB.
  • Keep only the information needed to connect you to the address.

A clean redaction should be permanent, not a translucent mark that can be removed or read through. Make sure the address remains legible after saving the file, and open the final file yourself before attaching it. Do not include extra pages when one page proves the address.

Google says uploaded documents are permanently deleted from all of its systems after 60 days. Redaction is still important: deletion after that period does not make an unnecessary disclosure safe at the time you upload it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Enter the address and submit

  1. Enter the complete residential address for the house to be blurred.
  2. Review the image, address, authority certification, and redacted attachment for accuracy.
  3. Submit the report. Google says it will review the request and may contact you by email, so use an email account you can check.

Keep a note of the date, the address submitted, and the Street View position. A screenshot can help you recognize the reported view later, especially if the road has multiple panoramas. Do not assume that a submitted form means the blur has already been applied; the documented sequence includes Google’s review.

What a Google blur does and does not mean

The applied blur is permanent on the requested Google imagery

Google Maps Help states: “When we receive and apply a blur request, the blur is permanent.” That means you should choose the request carefully. If the wrong building, vehicle, or section of a property is reported, the result is not presented as a temporary setting that you can simply switch off later.

Google’s policy allows users to ask for an entire house, car, or body to be blurred through Report a Problem. The result is a visual alteration in the affected Google Street View material, not removal of the property’s address from Google Maps. The map marker, written address, ownership records, and other non-image information are outside the stated Street View blur result.

Permanent applies to the blur once Google receives and applies it; it does not mean every future image from every service will be altered. If Google later displays a different panorama or a separate image type, inspect that material separately and report it through the applicable route if necessary.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Other imagery can remain visible

A Google house blur does not propagate to:

  • Bing Streetside or another mapping provider’s street-level imagery.
  • Real-estate listings, local directories, news pages, or other websites.
  • Photographs uploaded by users to map listings.
  • Satellite or aerial imagery supplied through a separate layer or provider.
  • Copies that someone has downloaded, reposted, or embedded elsewhere.

Google also says a new blur request excludes the newly blurred Street View image from generative-AI prompting. It does not undo AI-generated imagery that already exists, and it does not remove copies hosted by third parties. A person who already saved or reposted an image may still control a copy that Google cannot delete through the Street View form.

User-uploaded 360 photos are a separate case

Google’s user-imagery guidance says a blur applied to a Google-owned 360 photo cannot be removed from that photo. If the picture is user-contributed rather than part of Google’s own Street View collection, identify the specific image and use the reporting path presented for that image. Do not assume that a house request for one image automatically changes every user-uploaded view.

This distinction matters when the same address appears in official road imagery and in a visitor’s 360 panorama. Report each relevant image to its owner or through the control attached to that image. A successful request against one panorama is not evidence that all photographs of the property have been removed.

How to hide your home in Bing Maps Streetside

Use the current Feedback route first

  1. Open Bing Maps and search for the address.
  2. Enter the Streetside view that displays the house.
  3. Click the Feedback link or control on the Bing Maps page.
  4. Describe the privacy concern and identify the exact house or portion of the image involved.
  5. Submit the report with enough information for Microsoft to locate the image.

Microsoft’s current support guidance emphasizes the general Feedback route. The exact control can vary by country, browser, and imagery type. A layout difference does not necessarily mean that Streetside lacks a reporting option; it may mean the page is presenting the current general feedback interface instead of an image-specific link.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Look for the older image-specific label when it appears

Consumer privacy guidance describes an image-specific option in the lower-left of the Streetside view labeled Report a privacy concern with this image. If that wording is present, it is the most direct way to identify the displayed image. If it is absent, return to the page-level Feedback control rather than searching for a hidden form or assuming the service has no reporting process.

Use the label exactly as shown in your version of Bing Maps. The current Microsoft support route is the safer general instruction because wording and placement can change by geography, browser, and imagery type.

Include a precise description

Bing guidance does not specify a matching proof-of-address upload requirement. You should nevertheless make the report specific:

  • [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by
  • Give the complete address or the nearest identifiable location.
  • Include a screenshot or the direct Streetside image view when the form allows it.
  • Describe the house precisely: for example, the front elevation, side entrance, garage, or a visible person or vehicle.
  • Explain why displaying that part of the image creates a privacy concern.
  • State whether the concern applies to the entire property or only a particular detail.

If the image shows a row of attached homes or multiple units, describe the unit, entrance, or facade rather than saying only “my address.” If the concern is a person or vehicle, identify its position in the frame. This gives Microsoft a clear target without sending documents that its cited instructions do not request.

What Bing can and cannot guarantee

Microsoft’s published limitation is explicit: “Reporting a concern will not necessarily result in removal of a URL from search results.” A report can therefore lead to review without producing the outcome you want.

Bing also explains that it does not control content published on the source website. Even if Bing removes a result from its search index, the original page or image may remain directly accessible. Removing a search listing is not the same as deleting the source file.

The cited Bing guidance does not make an equivalent promise that an accepted Streetside request is permanent. It also does not promise that every submitted image will be removed. Do not describe a Bing report as guaranteed deletion when asking Microsoft to review it.

Plan for two separate goals: reducing visibility inside Bing and removing the underlying material. If a result leads to a real-estate page, directory, or other website, contact that site’s operator as well. Microsoft cannot delete content it does not host merely because a search report was submitted.

Google and Bing compared for a privacy decision

Question Google Street View Bing Streetside
Is there a named home workflow? Yes. Select My home from Report a Problem. No consistently documented home-specific workflow; use Feedback.
Is proof of address specified? Yes. Google lists acceptable records and upload rules. The cited Bing instructions do not state an equivalent document requirement.
Is permanence promised? Google says an applied blur is permanent. No equivalent permanence guarantee is stated in the cited guidance.
Does it affect other providers? No. No.
Does a search-result report delete the source? Not applicable to the Street View blur workflow. No. Microsoft says source content can remain available even if a result is removed.

The key difference is control. Google names a residential workflow and sets documentary requirements. Bing’s current public route is general feedback, and its published limitation is about search-result removal rather than a guaranteed Streetside takedown. If both services show your home, submit separate reports; one provider cannot enforce a change on the other.

Common problems and how to fix them

The Google report form rejects your attachment

  • Confirm the file is PNG, JPG, or PDF.
  • Reduce the file below 10 MB.
  • Use a dated utility bill, bank statement, lease, homeowners-insurance record, or property-tax record.
  • Redact identifiers but leave the address and date visible.
  • Replace a handwritten document or government ID with one of Google’s listed records.

A bill older than six months may not meet the stated timing rule; a lease may be older. If a multipage record contains unnecessary account or payment details, upload only the page needed to show the address and date, after redaction.

The address in the document does not match the image

Check that the document and the address entered in the form refer to the same residence. If the image shows a neighboring building, a rear access road, or a multi-unit property, describe exactly which structure you want reviewed. A vague report makes it harder for the reviewer to identify the intended house.

Verify the street number, unit information, and spelling before submitting. The image may be taken from a side street or show the rear of a property, so use visible landmarks to explain how that view relates to the address.

You are trying to blur a photo that is not Google’s Street View image

Street View, user-uploaded 360 photos, ordinary user photographs, satellite layers, and images copied to another site can have different reporting paths. Identify the image owner first. A successful Google Street View request will not automatically change a user photograph or a third-party listing.

The Bing privacy control is missing

Use the page’s Feedback control. The image-specific wording can vary with geography, browser, and imagery type, so a missing Report a privacy concern with this image label does not by itself indicate that reporting is impossible.

You reported Bing content but can still open the original page

This can be expected when the report concerns a search result. Microsoft’s limitation distinguishes the index from the source website. Record the original page or image location and contact the site operator separately if your goal is to remove the underlying content, not merely reduce its visibility in Bing.

You want to reverse a Google blur

Google’s stated rule is that an applied blur is permanent. Treat the submission as irreversible on the affected Google imagery and confirm the target before sending it. Do not submit a test request expecting to restore the image later.

A practical checklist before you submit

  • Confirm which provider owns the image.
  • Open the exact street-level view that exposes the home.
  • Decide whether the request covers the whole house or a specific feature.
  • For Google, prepare an eligible proof-of-address file under 10 MB.
  • Redact names, account numbers, payment details, health information, and unrelated identifiers.
  • Leave the address and date visible for Google verification.
  • Save a screenshot or note the image location for your records.
  • Use a reachable email address for a possible Google follow-up.
  • For Bing, include the address, image reference, and a clear privacy explanation.
  • After submitting, check the other mapping provider and major third-party listings separately.

Before pressing submit, inspect the attachment at normal zoom, confirm that no unredacted page is included, and make sure the report names the correct provider. Keep copies of your notes, but do not retain unnecessary personal documents beyond what you need for your own records.

Protecting your address beyond street-level maps

Street View and Streetside are only two possible exposures. If the concern is personal safety, also review public real-estate pages, local business or directory records, user-uploaded map photos, social-media posts, and cached or copied images. Each site has its own removal or privacy process. A map blur cannot erase a photograph that another person has already published.

Review the same property on both mapping services, because a Google request does not change Bing and a Bing report does not change Google. Check street-level imagery, user photographs, and aerial or satellite layers separately. If a third-party page is the source, request removal from that publisher even if a search engine report is also pending.

For Google, the strongest documented result is the permanent blur applied to the requested Google imagery after review. For Bing, submit the most precise report available, but plan for the possibility that Microsoft may leave the image or search result in place and that the source content may remain online.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I blur my house on Google Street View?

Open the exact home image in Google Maps, choose Report a Problem, select My home, certify that you are authorized, attach redacted proof of address, enter the residential address, and submit. Google reviews the request and says an applied blur is permanent.

What documents does Google accept for a home blur?

Google lists a utility bill, bank statement, lease, homeowners-insurance record, or property-tax record. Bills and statements should generally be dated within six months; leases may be older. Upload PNG, JPG, or PDF files under 10 MB, redact unnecessary identifiers, and leave the address and date visible.

Can I remove my home from Google Maps completely?

The Street View process changes the selected imagery by blurring the house. It does not delete the postal address, public records, map listing, other providers’ imagery, third-party photographs, or copies hosted elsewhere.

Can Google unblur my house later?

Google Maps Help says that once a blur request is received and applied, the blur is permanent. Confirm the correct building or feature before submitting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How do I hide my address on Bing Maps Streetside?

Open the Streetside view, use the Feedback control, and describe the exact home and privacy concern. Some versions show Report a privacy concern with this image in the lower-left of the image. Microsoft does not state an equivalent proof-of-address requirement.

Does reporting a Bing image delete it from the internet?

No guarantee is given. Microsoft says reporting a concern will not necessarily remove a URL from search results and explains that source websites remain under their publishers’ control. Contact the originating site if you need the underlying image removed.

Will a Google blur also hide my home on Bing?

No. Each provider controls its own imagery. Submit a separate Bing report if Streetside displays the property.

Does a Google blur remove AI-generated images or copied photos?

Google says a new blur excludes the newly blurred Street View image from generative-AI prompting, but it does not undo AI-generated imagery created previously or remove copies hosted by third parties.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What if the Bing privacy link is missing?

Use the page-level Feedback control. The image-specific label can vary by country, browser, and imagery type, while Microsoft’s current support route emphasizes general feedback.

Are there any authoritative statistics on how many homes are blurred?

No authoritative prevalence figure is provided for either service. The documented facts concern the reporting procedures, evidence rules, and limitations.

The Bottom Line

Google offers the clearest remedy: an authorized resident can report the exact Street View image, provide redacted proof of address, and receive a permanent blur if Google applies the request. Bing Maps currently directs users to Feedback, with an image-specific privacy label appearing in some versions, but Microsoft does not promise removal. Report each provider separately and contact third-party publishers for copies or source pages.
