As of October 16, 2026, Rockstar Games has not published a mission, item, cheat, hack, accessory, or setting that removes it. Grand Theft Auto VI is still listed as an unreleased game scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The monitor is visible in Rockstar’s promotional material, but its gameplay purpose has not been explained. Any claim that a particular mission or trick removes it is speculation until Rockstar or a reliable post-launch walkthrough demonstrates the process in the released game.

Short answer: Lucia’s monitor cannot be removed by any verified method yet
Rockstar has shown Lucia wearing an ankle monitor, but it has not documented what the device does mechanically or whether players can take it off. No official source confirms a removal mission, a disabling item, a cheat code, a hidden interaction, or a map restriction tied to the monitor.

That answer is limited by the game’s release status, not by a failed attempt to find the right button. Rockstar’s product listing still gives November 19, 2026 as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until the game is available and its systems can be verified, a step-by-step removal guide would be inventing mechanics that have not been established.

What Rockstar has actually confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI has not launched
Rockstar Games lists Grand Theft Auto VI as “coming November 19, 2026,” developed and published by Rockstar for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That means there is no released story mode in which players can test Lucia’s equipment, complete a mission, or check whether a monitor-related condition changes after an event.
Pre-release videos and screenshots can show intended characters, locations, and scenes, but they cannot establish every final gameplay rule. A device visible in a trailer may be cosmetic, story-driven, temporary, or connected to a system that Rockstar has not yet described.
The monitor appears in official promotional media
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI media materials include trailers, a Lucia Caminos video clip, artwork, and screenshots. Those materials establish that the ankle monitor is part of Lucia’s promotional depiction. They do not state whether it tracks her position, limits travel, triggers police responses, affects character switching, or can be removed.

- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.

- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
Rockstar has not published a removal procedure
No official product or media page currently identifies:
- a mission where Lucia’s monitor is removed or disabled;
- a character, shop, safehouse, or item that can alter it;
- a cheat, code, exploit, or menu option that turns it off;
- a boundary that the monitor enforces on the map; or
- whether the device is permanent, temporary, reversible, or purely visual.
Those are separate questions. The absence of a confirmed removal method does not prove that the monitor will be permanent; it means the available official information does not answer the question.
Answers to the questions players are asking
Can Lucia remove the ankle bracelet?
It is not known. Rockstar has shown the bracelet but has not confirmed an interaction or story event that removes it. Treat statements that Lucia definitely can or cannot remove it as unverified until the released game or an authoritative guide demonstrates the result.

Which mission disables Lucia’s monitor?
No mission has been identified by Rockstar. Pre-release footage may reveal scenes involving Lucia, but a scene showing the monitor does not identify a later mission or prove that the device changes during the story.
Is the monitor a map restriction?
There is no confirmed answer. Rockstar has not said that the monitor creates a geofence, blocks parts of the map, limits travel distance, or changes when Lucia switches with Jason. Those are plausible design possibilities, not documented features.
Is there a cheat, hack, or item?
No verified cheat, hack, accessory, or consumable for disabling the monitor has been published. Guides that present button combinations, save-file edits, or supposed hidden items before launch are not reproducible evidence of a final game mechanic.

Does the monitor affect GTA Online?
Rockstar has not stated whether the monitor has any online-mode relevance. The currently available material concerns Lucia and the single-player fiction; it does not establish an equivalent system for an online character.
How to separate evidence from pre-release speculation
Discussion about the monitor is useful for identifying questions, but it is not the same as a walkthrough. A third-party GTA6Sidekick article treats the monitor as a trailer detail and does not provide an authoritative, reproducible gameplay procedure. Pre-release gameplay coverage describes systems and scenes visible in official footage, yet it does not document a monitor-removal mechanic.

- Is the source showing the released game? A trailer, screenshot, or promotional clip can confirm appearance but not an unshown interaction.
- Can another player repeat the steps? A reliable guide should identify the platform, save state, mission, menu path, or input sequence and show the resulting change.
- Does the source distinguish story mode from online mode? A method that works in one mode cannot automatically be applied to the other.
- Does it identify timing and reversibility? A temporary story condition, a permanent upgrade, and a visual change have different consequences.
- Does Rockstar or multiple independent post-launch demonstrations support it? One unsourced clip or rumor is not enough for a definitive answer.
What a future verified method would need to explain
If Rockstar or a reliable post-launch guide eventually documents more than one way to handle the monitor, these are the details that matter when comparing them:
| Question | Status as of October 16, 2026 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Is it required by the story? | Not stated by Rockstar. | A story-required event cannot be skipped in the same way as an optional activity. |
| When does it become available? | Not stated by Rockstar. | Players need to know whether the change occurs early, after a specific mission, or near the end of the campaign. |
| Does it change Lucia’s playable area? | Not stated by Rockstar. | A visual alteration would have different consequences from a system that unlocks or restricts locations. |
| Does it affect character switching? | Not stated by Rockstar. | Any restriction on switching between Lucia and Jason would affect free-roam planning. |
| Is the change reversible? | Not stated by Rockstar. | Players should know whether a save can restore the original state. |
| Does it work in story mode, online mode, or both? | Not stated by Rockstar. | Mechanics tied to Lucia’s narrative may not exist in online play. |
What to do when GTA 6 releases
Once the game is available, use a reproducible process rather than relying on rumor:
- Check Rockstar’s official updates and support information. Look for a description of Lucia’s equipment or a patch note that names a related mechanic.
- Record Lucia’s initial state. Note when the monitor appears, whether it is visible in gameplay and cutscenes, and whether the game displays any warning, status icon, or dialogue about it.
- Follow the story normally until a change is observed. Write down the mission name, objective, location, and any prerequisite rather than assuming a scene is the cause.
- Test the result in a separate save. This helps determine whether the monitor change is permanent, temporary, cosmetic, or tied to a particular mission state.
- Check practical effects. Compare map access, police behavior, character switching, activities, and free-roam movement before and after the event.
- Verify the mode and platform. A result on PlayStation 5 story mode should not be presented as an Xbox Series X|S online feature without separate evidence.
A post-launch guide that omits these details may still be useful as a lead, but it should not be treated as definitive proof that the monitor can be disabled.

Rockstar’s promotional copy says, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” That line establishes the tone of the characters’ situation; it does not describe ankle-monitor behavior. Likewise, seeing the device in a trailer confirms its presence in the depicted material but does not reveal its rules.
Games can use visible objects for characterization, scripted scenes, temporary restrictions, or persistent systems. Without released gameplay or an explicit developer explanation, choosing one interpretation would go beyond the available evidence.
Current verdict
As of October 16, 2026, there is no verified way to remove or disable Lucia’s ankle monitor in Grand Theft Auto VI, and no confirmed mission, cheat, item, or map rule associated with it. Wait for the November 19, 2026 release and then rely on Rockstar’s updates and reproducible post-launch testing before accepting a removal method as real.
