You usually cannot erase an old home photo from the entire internet with one request. Remove or hide the image where it is hosted, stop any MLS or agent syndication that keeps republishing it, then ask Google and Bing to refresh stale results. Zillow, Redfin, Google Street View, Google Maps user photos, and copied images each require a different process.
Identify what kind of image you are dealing with
The source determines the remedy. Before filing requests, open the image and note the website hosting the full-size file—not just the search result that links to it.

- MLS listing photo: An agent may have supplied it through an MLS feed that republishes images to portals.
- Photo uploaded by a homeowner or user: Delete it from the relevant account or ask the host to remove it.
- Google Street View: Use Google Maps’ separate house-blur process.
- Google Maps photo or Photo Sphere: Report the user-contributed image in Google Maps.
- Agent or brokerage website: Ask that site owner to delete it and stop any feed serving it.
- Blog, news site, social account, or image aggregator: Contact the publisher first, then refresh search indexes after the source changes.
- Cached thumbnail: The original may already be gone; request a search-engine refresh.
Search the complete address in quotation marks, then try the address with Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, photos, and listing. Repeat in Google Images and Bing Images.
Make an inventory before changing anything
Save evidence while the pages are still visible. A simple spreadsheet should contain:

- Website and page URL.
- Direct image URL, if available.
- Screenshot showing the image and address.
- Whether it shows an interior, exterior, floor plan, garage, valuables, security equipment, children, or other identifying details.
- Photographer, agent, brokerage, or source attribution.
- Date of each request, ticket number, email thread, and final status.
Check both logged-in and logged-out views. A photo that disappears in a homeowner dashboard can remain public, on a mobile page, in a property-history section, or at a different image URL.
Remove photos from Zillow
Zillow says property detail pages generally remain because they are based on public records or MLS data, but a verified homeowner can delete listing photos from the claimed property. Zillow also says most property photos originate with agents through MLS feeds (property-page policy; photo sources).
- Go to Zillow and search for the property address.
- Open the property page and complete Zillow’s owner-verification or claim process.
- Open the homeowner dashboard and the photo-editing controls.
- Delete or hide the unwanted listing photos, using the option currently shown for your property.
- Save the change.
- Open a private browser window while logged out and check the public page, property history, and image URLs.
Controls can vary by account, property, photo source, and interface version. If an MLS-fed image remains, contact Zillow support, the former listing agent, the brokerage, and the relevant MLS; claiming the property does not necessarily stop upstream distribution.

Remove photos from Redfin
Redfin’s current sold-home workflow is available on desktop, not in its mobile app (Redfin instructions).

- Sign in to Redfin.com.
- Open My homes from the menu under your name.
- Select the property.
- Choose Edit Photos.
- Select Hide listing photos.
- Confirm with Yes, Hide Photos.
Redfin warns that this hides photos on Redfin only. After MLS photos are hidden, Redfin may show a Google Street View image instead. Check the logged-out desktop and mobile pages, property history, and image search. If you uploaded replacement images yourself, remove those separately using Redfin’s user-photo controls (Redfin uploaded-photo guidance).
Contact Realtor.com, the agent, brokerage, and MLS
Realtor.com’s owner controls and support routes can vary. Open the property page and look for a current owner-claim, edit, or photo-removal option. If none works, use the site’s official support route and provide the address, exact page and image URLs, the specific images, and the reason for removal. Ask whether the source is an MLS, brokerage, agent, or another licensed feed.
Contact the former listing agent and brokerage in parallel. MLS feeds can continue distributing old images after a sale, so a portal-only edit may not prevent copies from returning. Send a request such as:

Do not assume that owning the house means owning the photographs. Photographer, brokerage, MLS, and licensing agreements can assign or limit publication rights. The 2025 NAR Handbook on Multiple Listing Policy discusses MLS compilation and rights in submitted listing content.
Refresh Google Search and Google Images
Google normally cannot delete an image hosted on someone else’s website. Google’s guidance is to contact the site owner first (Google: Remove an image from Google).
- Have the host delete or materially change the source page and image.
- Copy the exact Google result URL, source-page URL, and direct image URL.
- Use Google’s outdated-content refresh process and submit each stale result or image.
- Explain that the source has been deleted or changed.
- Recheck Google Search and Google Images after Google recrawls the page.
A refresh updates Google’s index; it does not remove the source website. Google’s personal-information process may apply to qualifying addresses, phone numbers, emails, identity documents, or doxxing content, but it is not a general right to remove every ordinary house photo (Google: Remove private information). Copyright complaints generally belong to the photographer, copyright owner, or authorized representative—not automatically to the homeowner.

Bing maintains a separate index, so a Google request does not update Bing or Copilot. Search the address in Bing Images, identify the host, request source removal, and then use Bing’s applicable removal or update process for the deleted or changed result (Bing Webmaster Tools: Content Removal). Search-engine removal does not delete the underlying website.

Blur your home in Google Street View
Street View imagery is separate from listing photos. In the United States, Google says only the homeowner or tenant can request a house blur, proof of address is required, and an applied house blur is permanent (Google Maps: Blur Street View imagery).
- Find the home in Google Maps and open Street View.
- Click Report a Problem in the lower-right corner.
- Select My home.
- Certify that you have authority to request the blur.
- Upload proof of address and enter or confirm the residential address.
- Submit the report.
Google lists a dated utility bill, bank statement, letter, lease, homeowners-insurance record, or property-tax record as possible U.S. proof. Redact everything except the address and relevant date. Google says uploaded documents are deleted from its systems after 60 days. Request this only when you genuinely want the home blurred: Google’s help page says the result cannot be undone, including by a future owner.
Report user-contributed Google Maps photos
A photo or Photo Sphere uploaded by a Maps user is not official Street View. Open the image in Google Maps, select Report a problem, describe the privacy or identifying-information concern, and submit it. Google’s policies allow reports for images showing a private home or identifying information and state that interiors of private residences or other publicly inaccessible places should not be published without the owner’s consent (Google Maps: Blur or remove 360 imagery and Photo Paths; Google Maps user-content privacy policy).
If you control the website hosting the image
- Delete the image, page, duplicate files, and CDN copies.
- Return a proper
404or410for permanently deleted pages. - Remove deleted URLs from the XML sitemap.
- Request Google and Bing refreshes.
- If the file must remain online but should not appear in search, use appropriate indexing controls.
Google documents image deletion, robots.txt, and X-Robots-Tag options in its image-removal documentation and its indexing-controls documentation. Temporary search removals can expire, so permanent source changes are stronger.

When normal removal fails
There is a safety, stalking, or doxxing risk
Describe the exact image and risk—valuables, floor plans, children, medical equipment, alarm panels, access points, or a credible threat—and request immediate suppression from the host, agent, MLS, and portal. Use the host’s privacy or emergency channel and Google’s personal-information process where applicable. Contact local law enforcement or victim-support services if there is an imminent threat.
The host has no obvious contact
Check its privacy policy, abuse address, copyright page, hosting provider, domain-registration contact, or registered-agent information. Google’s image-removal guidance also recommends locating site-owner or host information when ordinary contact routes fail.
A copyright complaint is being considered
Do not file a copyright takedown solely because you own the property. Confirm who owns or is authorized to enforce rights in the photograph; a photographer, brokerage, or MLS may hold those rights.
The listing is still active
An active listing may be controlled by the current listing agent and seller agreement. Coordinate with that agent rather than treating an active marketing image like an old sold-listing photo.
