Delete or report the event from your calendar service’s own controls. Do not click links labeled “cancel,” “verify,” “unsubscribe,” or similar inside the invitation. Those links can lead to phishing pages or confirm that your address is active. Use the platform-specific steps below, then investigate the calendar or account that keeps adding the event if it returns.
Start safely: handle the event, not its links
A suspicious calendar invitation is still an entry in a calendar database. You can remove it without interacting with the message’s embedded links. Open the event only far enough to reach the calendar application’s built-in actions, and look for commands such as Report as spam, Report Junk, or Delete.

- Do not select links that promise to cancel, verify, unsubscribe, claim a prize, or restore an account.
- Do not reply to the organizer merely to make the event disappear. A reply can confirm that your address is monitored.
- Use the calendar service’s own menu, toolbar, or event details screen.
- Prefer a spam or junk report when the service provides one. Reporting can remove the event and help the service classify similar invitations.
- If the event is connected to a recurring series, check whether the control removes one occurrence or the entire series before confirming.
There is no need to buy a security product, install a special utility, or use a third-party “calendar cleaner” for this task. The services covered here provide native controls. Interface labels can move after an app update, however, so look for the equivalent action in the event menu rather than relying on an embedded instruction.
Keep two objects separate in your mind: the calendar entry and any email or notification that announced it. Deleting one does not necessarily delete the other. You may need to handle each through its own application.

Remove a suspicious event in Google Calendar
Report the event as spam
- Open Google Calendar and select the suspicious event.
- Choose More actions.
- Select Report as spam.
- Confirm the report if Google presents a confirmation dialog.
Google Calendar Help says, “If you notice a suspicious invitation or event on your calendar, report it as spam.” Reporting removes the event. When the event belongs to a recurring series, Google removes all events in that series rather than only the occurrence you opened. That makes the spam route preferable to deleting a single date when the invitation repeats.
Know when Google’s spam control applies
The Report as spam route applies to events sent from Google Calendar. Google says events created by another provider, app, or service cannot be reported as spam through this route. If the command is missing, do not substitute an embedded “unsubscribe” or “cancel” link. Instead, identify the calendar or service that created the entry and remove it there.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A missing command is therefore useful information: it may indicate that the event was imported, synchronized, or generated outside Google Calendar. Check the event’s calendar name, organizer details, and account selector. If several accounts are enabled, make sure you are acting on the account that owns the event rather than a merely viewing account.
Reduce unwanted invitations
- Open Google Calendar settings.
- Choose Event settings.
- Find Add invitations to my calendar.
- Select Only if the sender is known.
Google describes a known sender as someone in your contacts, in your organization, or someone with whom you have interacted. Google also warns that this setting might reveal to senders that they are not in your contacts. That disclosure is a privacy trade-off to consider before enabling the filter. It may reduce unsolicited additions, but it is not a substitute for reporting an invitation that is already present.
After changing the setting, review the calendar for events added by another account or subscribed source. The invitation filter concerns how Google handles invitations; it does not remove a separate calendar subscription that is feeding entries into your view.
Remove a suspicious event in Apple Calendar on iPhone
Delete an ordinary unwanted event
Apple’s cited iPhone instructions apply to iOS 26 or later. If your phone uses a different iOS release, the wording or location of the control can differ, so use the equivalent event action shown by your version.

- Open the Calendar app and tap the unwanted event.
- Choose Delete Event.
- Confirm the deletion if prompted.
Deleting from the event details screen uses Apple Calendar’s control rather than any instruction inside the invitation. If the event came from an unknown contact, Apple provides a reporting route instead.

Report an event from an unknown contact
- Open the event from the unknown contact.
- Choose Report Junk.
- Select Delete and Report Junk.
This combines removal with Apple’s junk-reporting action. Use it when the event is clearly unwanted and the option is available. Do not tap a “report” or “unsubscribe” address written in the event description; the relevant control is the one presented by the Calendar app itself.
Remove the subscribed calendar that keeps adding events
Deleting individual entries will not solve the problem if a subscribed calendar is the source. Remove or unsubscribe from that calendar instead:
- Open the Calendars list.
- Tap the information control beside the unwanted calendar.
- Choose Delete Calendar or Unsubscribe.
If Apple does not allow removal in your configuration, hide the calendar from the Calendars list. Hiding stops its entries from appearing in your view but does not remove the subscription, so unsubscribing or deleting is the better fix when those controls are available. A hidden subscription can still exist and may become visible again on another device or after settings are restored.

Remove a suspicious invitation on iCloud.com
- Sign in to iCloud.com and open Calendar.
- Open the suspected junk invitation.
- Choose Report Junk.
- Close the event.
Apple says the event is automatically deleted from calendars on devices signed in to the same Apple Account where iCloud Calendar is enabled. This is different from deleting a local copy on one phone: the report is expected to propagate through that iCloud calendar.
If another device still displays it, verify that it uses the same Apple Account and that iCloud Calendar is turned on before deleting the event repeatedly. A different account, a disabled iCloud Calendar switch, or a separate subscribed calendar can make the entry appear to survive even though the iCloud copy was removed.
Delete a suspicious meeting in Outlook Web App without notifying the organizer
Delete without sending a response
- Open Outlook Web App and select the meeting on the calendar.
- Choose Delete.
- When Outlook offers response choices, select the option not to send a response.
This removes the calendar entry without sending a reply to the organizer through the documented Outlook Web App option. The wording can vary with account type and interface updates, so read the confirmation choices carefully and select the no-response option rather than declining with a message. If Outlook shows separate choices for a single occurrence and the series, choose the scope that matches your goal.
Choosing no response is especially important when the invitation is unsolicited. A decline notice is still a communication to the organizer. The no-response choice handles the calendar object while avoiding an unnecessary signal.

Handle the related message separately
A suspicious meeting can have both a calendar entry and an email invitation. Microsoft documents reporting an Outlook message as phishing from the message list. Reporting the message does not itself block the sender, and it does not automatically remove a calendar entry. If both exist, report or delete the message using the mail controls and remove the meeting using the calendar controls.
Do not assume that a phishing report changes the meeting’s response state. Check the calendar after handling the message, and use the meeting’s Delete action if it remains.
Control automatic event summaries
Outlook includes a setting that Microsoft describes as Don’t show event summaries in email or on my calendar. The location and availability of this control depend on the Outlook product and account setup. Use the settings area for your specific Outlook version rather than assuming that every Outlook app exposes the same switch. This setting concerns automatic summaries; it is not the same as deleting a particular invitation or blocking a sender.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen the event comes back after deletion
An entry that reappears is usually being supplied by another calendar source, account, or synchronization path. Repeating the same delete command without identifying that source may only remove one copy. First note which calendar name, color, and account are shown for the event, then trace that source.
Check subscribed calendars first
On Apple devices, open the Calendars list and inspect calendars you do not recognize. An unwanted subscription can repopulate events after individual deletions. Use the information control beside the calendar and choose Delete Calendar or Unsubscribe; hide it only when removal is unavailable or you need a temporary visual fix.
If the event disappears when a calendar is hidden, that does not prove that it has been deleted. It only proves that the calendar is no longer displayed. Remove the subscription when possible, and then refresh the calendar to confirm that the source no longer contributes entries.
Check other signed-in accounts
Calendars can be synchronized from more than one account. Look at the event’s calendar label, account indicator, or details panel and determine which account owns it. Remove the event in that account’s calendar service. On iCloud, also confirm that the affected devices use the same Apple Account and have iCloud Calendar enabled.

Check third-party providers and apps
Google’s spam control covers events sent from Google Calendar, not events created by another provider, app, or service. If an event lacks Google’s reporting command, it may have entered through another connected system. Review connected calendar accounts and the service named in the event details, then use that service’s own removal controls.
The same principle applies outside Google: a calendar app may display data without owning it. Removing a view in one app will not necessarily remove the source account or subscription.
Allow synchronization to finish
After deleting an event or removing a subscription, give the calendar time to synchronize, then refresh the calendar on each device. If only one device still shows the entry, compare its account and calendar list with a device where the event is gone. A mismatch points to a local account or subscription rather than a failed deletion.
Avoid repeatedly opening the suspicious invitation while waiting. Refresh through the calendar application, not through links or buttons inside the event description.
What to do if you already clicked a suspicious link
The safest removal procedure assumes that you have not clicked the link. If you did click one, stop interacting with the page and do not enter passwords, payment details, verification codes, or recovery information. Close the page, then change credentials through the service’s normal app or manually entered official address if you supplied a password. Review recent account activity and enable stronger sign-in protection where your account supports it.
Removing the calendar event does not undo information submitted to a phishing page. Treat account protection as a separate task: secure the account first, then remove the event and any related message using the platform’s native controls. If you downloaded a file, do not open it; follow your device or organization’s malware-reporting process.

| Mistake | Why it is risky or ineffective | Safer alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Clicking “cancel,” “verify,” or “unsubscribe” inside the event | The destination may be a phishing page or may confirm that your address is active. | Use the calendar app’s Delete, Report as spam, or Report Junk control. |
| Replying “no” or declining with a message | A response can notify or validate the sender. | In Outlook Web App, choose Delete and then the option not to send a response. |
| Deleting only one occurrence of a recurring event | Other entries in the series can remain or return. | In Google Calendar, Report as spam removes the entire recurring series. |
| Deleting entries while leaving an unwanted subscription active | The subscription can recreate the entries. | On iPhone, open Calendars, inspect the source, and choose Delete Calendar or Unsubscribe. |
| Reporting the email and assuming the meeting is gone | Mail and calendar objects are handled separately. | Report the message from the mail list, then remove the meeting from the calendar. |
| Assuming every app has the same controls | Options vary by version, account, device, and synchronization configuration. | Use the instructions for the exact service and app you are using. |
| Hiding a calendar and treating it as deleted | Hiding changes what you see but leaves the subscription in place. | Delete the calendar or unsubscribe when the service allows it. |
| Repeating deletion before checking the account | A second account or provider can keep supplying a fresh copy. | Identify the calendar label and owner, then remove the source. |
Platform differences at a glance
| Service | Removal or reporting route | Important effect or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Open event → More actions → Report as spam | Only applies to events sent from Google Calendar; removes the whole recurring series. |
| iPhone Calendar | Delete Event, or Report Junk → Delete and Report Junk | The cited instructions apply to iOS 26 or later; a recurring source may be a subscribed calendar. |
| iCloud.com Calendar | Open event → Report Junk | Apple says it deletes the event across devices using the same Apple Account with iCloud Calendar enabled. |
| Outlook Web App | Select meeting → Delete → choose not to send a response | Removes the event without sending a reply through the documented option. |
These options are not interchangeable. Google’s spam action is limited to events sent from Google Calendar; Apple’s iPhone reporting route is tied to an unknown contact and the cited instructions are for iOS 26 or later; iCloud.com reporting synchronizes through the same Apple Account; and Outlook’s key privacy choice is deleting without a response. If your calendar client is not one of these, look for its own documented event and junk controls rather than assuming that a link in the invitation is trustworthy.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Quick decision guide
- Google Calendar event with “Report as spam”: use that command; it removes the series when the event recurs.
- iPhone event from an unknown contact: choose Report Junk, then Delete and Report Junk.
- iPhone entries that return: inspect the Calendars list for a subscribed calendar and unsubscribe or delete it.
- iCloud.com invitation: open it and choose Report Junk; the deletion syncs to devices using the same Apple Account with iCloud Calendar enabled.
- Outlook Web App meeting: select Delete and choose not to send a response.
- Event from another provider or app: identify that source and use its calendar controls; Google’s spam route may not be available.
These steps remove the calendar object without requiring a click on an untrusted link. Keep the mail and calendar actions separate, and trace the supplying account or subscription when an entry returns. Controls can change with a service update, so follow the labels shown by the exact app, device, and account you use.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I delete a spam calendar invite without declining it?
Use the calendar’s own Delete, Report as spam, or Report Junk command. In Outlook Web App, choose Delete and then the option not to send a response, rather than declining with a reply.
How do I remove a calendar event that has a suspicious link?
Open the event only to reach the application’s built-in controls. Do not use the link in the description. Google Calendar offers More actions → Report as spam; Apple offers Report Junk → Delete and Report Junk for events from unknown contacts; iCloud.com offers Report Junk.
Why does a deleted calendar event keep coming back?
A subscribed calendar, another signed-in account, or a third-party provider may be supplying it. Check the event’s calendar label and account, inspect Apple’s Calendars list for an unwanted subscription, and remove the source with Delete Calendar or Unsubscribe where available.
Recommended Free Tools
Does reporting an Outlook email remove the calendar meeting?
No. Microsoft treats mail and calendar objects separately. Report or delete the suspicious message from the mail list, then remove the meeting from the calendar using Delete and the no-response option.
Will Google Calendar’s Report as spam remove every repeat?
Yes, when the event is a recurring series sent from Google Calendar, reporting it removes all events in that series. Google’s spam route does not apply to events created by another provider, app, or service.
What happens when I report an iCloud.com invitation as junk?
Apple says the event is automatically deleted from calendars on devices signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Calendar enabled. If it remains elsewhere, check the account and iCloud Calendar setting before repeating the action.
The Bottom Line
Use the calendar service’s native Report as spam, Report Junk, or Delete control—never an embedded event link. Choose Outlook’s no-response deletion when offered, remove unwanted Apple subscriptions that repopulate entries, and identify the supplying account or provider if the event returns.
