How to submit an Xbox game refund request
- Open the official Xbox form. Go to Request a refund for digital games.
- Sign in with the buying account. Use the Microsoft account that completed the purchase. If the wrong account is active in your browser, sign out and select the account shown on the Xbox or Microsoft order history for the transaction.
- Select the relevant order item. Choose the game or other digital item you want Microsoft to review. Check the title and transaction details before continuing so that you do not submit the request for a different purchase.

The two estimates start at different points. A request can still be under review during the first period; the second period applies after Microsoft has marked a refund as issued. Likewise, “up to 72 hours” describes Microsoft’s handling time after you submit a request. It does not mean that you must buy, play, or request within 72 hours.
