How to refuel during a race

Check that the event permits pit stops and that your car needs fuel.

Use the Pit Menu options shown on screen to refuel. The exact menu prompts can vary, so follow what the game displays rather than relying on a particular button sequence.

Refuelling happens at a pit stop; changing the Fuel Map does not add fuel to the car. Gran Turismo’s beginner’s guide to the Gran Turismo World Series explains that a car may need to pit as it uses fuel. If tyre wear is active, a stop may also be a convenient time to change tyres, but whether that makes sense depends on the race.

How to make fuel last longer with the Fuel Map

While driving, use the controller’s left or right directional button to cycle through the Multi-Function Display (MFD) until Fuel Map is selected.

Use the up or down directional button to adjust the setting. The default is Power (1); moving toward Lean uses higher numbers, reduces engine output, and improves fuel consumption.

Check the MFD’s estimate of how many laps remain at the selected setting. Treat it as a planning aid, not a guarantee: your driving and the event’s conditions affect fuel use.

The official GT7 Online Manual describes six Fuel Map power settings. Level 1 prioritizes power and uses more fuel; leaner settings conserve fuel at the cost of output. Gran Turismo’s guide gives Levels 5 or 6 as examples of a longer-game approach, not a setting that is best for every race.

Choose between pace and fuel range
Use the Fuel Map and pit timing together. A more powerful setting can help when pace matters, while a leaner setting can extend a stint. Compare the MFD’s lap estimate with the distance left, then account for the time a pit stop costs. If a stop is needed and tyre wear is in play, consider whether a tyre change fits the same strategy.
There is no universal Fuel Map setting or pit schedule: the right choice depends on race distance, fuel consumption, tyre wear, and the event’s rules. Check the race conditions rather than assuming fuel use or stop requirements match another event.
Why Fuel Map may be unavailable
Fuel Map access depends on the event and car conditions. For events where fuel-consumption adjustment is activated, the Online Manual says a Fully Customizable Computer is required to view or adjust the setting. If you cannot select Fuel Map, check the event conditions and whether your car has that component.

Online room settings can include fuel consumption, refuelling speed, initial fuel, and minimum pit stops, according to the GT7 Online Manual. These options do not mean every race exposes them to the player; check the rules for the event or room you are entering.
