1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsStart with teleport movement and snap turning if your Diablo setup offers them. If you must use continuous movement, turn on a comfort vignette, reduce acceleration, make smooth turning optional, and keep speed steady. Stop as soon as symptoms begin; do not try to “push through.” The exact controls depend on whether you are running a native or modded VR version of Diablo, or simply viewing the conventional game on a virtual screen. No official, Diablo-specific VR comfort guide was established, so these are platform-level strategies to test rather than guaranteed cures.
Identify what “Diablo in VR” means in your setup
There is no single Diablo VR control scheme to follow. Your experience may be a game built for VR, a community modification that adds head-tracked play, or the ordinary flat-screen game displayed on a large virtual screen. Those arrangements expose different locomotion settings. Meta says application-specific preferences must be implemented by each application, so a headset-wide comfort panel cannot be assumed to change how a particular game moves you: Meta’s locomotion user-preferences guidance (updated September 8, 2026).

Native or modified VR play
If the game itself tracks your head and moves your avatar through a three-dimensional scene, look in the game’s pause menu, Settings, Controls, Accessibility, or Comfort area. The labels may be “Locomotion,” “Movement,” “Turning,” “Teleport,” “Snap turn,” “Vignette,” “Tunneling,” or “Smooth turn.” A mod may place these controls in a separate configuration utility or an in-headset overlay rather than in Diablo’s normal menus.
Before changing anything, note whether the view follows head movement independently of the character, whether a controller moves the character, and whether turning is controlled by a thumbstick or by physically turning your body. Those details determine which option is relevant. A teleport setting cannot help if the mod never implemented teleportation, and a snap-turn setting cannot change a virtual cinema screen that remains fixed in space.

Diablo on a virtual screen
If you are watching a conventional Diablo display on a virtual cinema screen, the game itself may not be generating VR locomotion. Motion sickness can instead come from the virtual-screen environment, head movement, latency, or the way the screen is positioned. In that case, first test a fixed, comfortably sized screen and the platform’s own comfort options; game-level teleport or snap-turn controls may not exist. Make sure you are changing the setting that controls the screen environment, not searching indefinitely for a movement menu that the flat game cannot provide.
A first-session protocol that minimizes risk
Use this order so you can tell which change helped. The platform documentation describes design principles, not a medically tested treatment plan or a required session length, so treat every step as an individual experiment.
- Find the application’s comfort menu. Before entering combat, locate movement, turning, and vignette controls. Write down the original values so you can restore them.
- Select teleport movement. Choose a point, activate the teleport, and let the scene transition you there. Meta identifies teleportation as a comfort-oriented option that can minimize motion sickness when available: Locomotion user preferences.
- Select snap turning. Turn in discrete increments rather than rotating the camera continuously. Meta notes that snap turns can still disorient some people, and preferences differ; if a particular increment feels abrupt, test a smaller angle if the application allows it.
- Play a short, low-pressure test. Stand or sit securely, move only a little, and assess how you feel before attempting a long dungeon, fast traversal, or combat encounter.
- Change one variable at a time. If teleport and snap turn are comfortable, leave them in place while testing another feature. Changing movement, turn style, speed, and graphics simultaneously makes the trigger impossible to identify.
- Stop at the first warning sign. Remove the headset and rest when nausea, sweating, headache, dizziness, eye strain, or a rising sense of discomfort appears. Continuing can make the current session worse; the cited guidance does not establish that enduring symptoms builds tolerance.
Keep a simple note after each test: locomotion mode, turn mode, vignette strength, and the action that preceded discomfort. This prevents a common mistake—remembering only that a session felt bad without knowing whether forward travel, rotation, or a transition caused it.

Compare the movement options
| Option | What you see and do | Potential comfort benefit | Trade-off to test |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teleport | Aim at a destination and transition there instead of seeing the world slide continuously. | Reduces the amount of continuous optic flow; identified by Meta as a comfort option. | Movement is less continuous and can interrupt spatial planning or combat. |
| Continuous movement | Holding a stick or control makes the scene move while your body remains mostly still. | Provides conventional directional control and may be necessary for a particular title or mod. | Visual motion, acceleration, and rotation can conflict with body and balance cues. |
| Snap turn | The view rotates in discrete jumps. | Avoids prolonged visual rotation; Meta recommends it as a comfort-oriented choice. | Some players find the jumps disorienting. |
| Smooth turn | The view rotates continuously as you hold or move a control. | More precise and familiar for players who tolerate it. | Continuous rotation can increase visual motion; Android’s XR guidance recommends snap turns when continuous movement is used. |
| Vignette or tunnel view | The application narrows peripheral vision during movement. | Limits peripheral optic flow. Meta describes vignettes, blink, and dash transitions as comfort techniques. | Less peripheral awareness and a smaller field of view while moving. |
These are alternatives, not a ranking that works for every person. Teleport and snap turn are sensible first tests, while continuous movement remains an option if you can make its visual cues gentler. A setting can also be comfortable in exploration but not during combat, when rapid turns and repeated movement inputs increase visual change.
Make continuous movement less provocative
Reduce or remove acceleration
Abrupt starts, stops, or repeated speed changes add visual cues without corresponding body movement. Meta’s Locomotion Best Practices recommends minimizing acceleration duration and frequency. Android’s XR guidance likewise advises avoiding progressive acceleration or deceleration when continuous movement is used: Considerations for XR headsets and wired XR glasses. If the menu exposes acceleration, set it as low as the application permits, or choose an option that starts at a steady speed.
Do not confuse a movement-speed slider with acceleration. Speed determines how fast the scene travels after movement begins; acceleration determines how quickly it reaches that speed. Test the latter first, then lower speed if symptoms remain. If the application offers no separate control, use gentler, less frequent stick inputs rather than repeatedly tapping forward.

Keep speed steady
Use the slowest constant speed that still lets you play effectively. Avoid repeatedly feathering the stick, sprinting, braking, and immediately sprinting again. This is a comfort experiment, not a universal speed limit: the platform material does not establish a Diablo-specific speed value or a threshold that is safe for everyone.

Use a vignette when offered
Enable the game’s movement vignette, tunnel vision, or equivalent optic-flow reduction. Meta explains that narrowing peripheral vision can reduce the amount of moving imagery reaching the visual system: Reduce Optic Flow (updated May 11, 2026). Try different strength settings if available, beginning with the strongest comfortable reduction and relaxing it only if you remain symptom-free. Blink and dash transitions are additional techniques described in the same guidance, but a particular Diablo application may not implement them.
A vignette is normally activated during movement, not necessarily while standing still. Check the preview or a safe area to confirm that it actually appears when you move. If the effect blocks too much peripheral information for combat, reduce its strength only after testing whether the stronger setting prevents symptoms.
Make smooth turning optional
Use snap turning as the default while you are troubleshooting. If you need smooth turning, keep the rotation slow and infrequent, and avoid spinning the camera while moving forward. Meta recommends making smooth turning an opt-in rather than forcing it on every player; Android also recommends snap turns for continuous-movement designs.
Some applications expose separate horizontal and vertical turning choices, while others provide only one switch. Change only the control that is available. A larger snap angle may reduce the duration of visible rotation but can feel disorienting; a smaller angle may feel more controllable but requires more repeated turns. There is no platform-specified angle that is correct for every player.

Why a stationary player can feel sick
VR can display forward travel or rotation while your body is seated or standing still. Meta describes this visually induced sensation as vection: moving images can conflict with vestibular balance signals from the inner ear and proprioceptive information from muscles and joints. The amount and speed of optic flow are associated with the strength of that sensation: Locomotion comfort and usability and Reduce Optic Flow.

That explains why acceleration, smooth rotation, rapid strafing, and a wide peripheral view are useful settings to investigate. It does not identify your personal trigger. One player may react mainly to turning, another to starts and stops, and another to the virtual-screen environment or display latency. Do not infer a diagnosis from the game title alone.
A gradual way to test your settings
Prepare the environment
- Clear the play area and use a stable seated or standing position.
- Keep a controller or boundary system within easy reach so you can exit without searching.
- Begin in a familiar, visually simple area rather than a crowded fight or fast travel sequence.
- Confirm that you can pause the application quickly; searching through menus while already dizzy adds unnecessary visual and physical effort.
Run a controlled comparison
- Test teleport plus snap turn with the other settings unchanged.
- On a separate attempt, test continuous movement at the lowest steady speed, with acceleration reduced and a vignette enabled.
- Test only one turning style at a time. Record which action preceded discomfort: forward travel, strafing, rotation, or a stop.
- Keep the configuration that produces fewer symptoms and repeat it in a short session before increasing complexity.
- Only after a comfortable exploration test should you add faster traversal, crowded scenes, or combat that requires frequent direction changes.
This is not a promise that repeated exposure will cure motion sickness. The available platform guidance gives design recommendations and notes individual differences; it does not specify how long any person should continue or provide a clinical acclimation schedule.
Troubleshoot by the movement that triggers symptoms
Nausea starts during forward travel
- Switch to teleport, if available.
- If you need continuous travel, enable a vignette and remove acceleration.
- Lower the steady speed and avoid frequent stop-start inputs.
- Test forward travel without strafing or turning so you can determine whether the combined motion is the problem.
Dizziness starts when the view rotates
- Use snap turning instead of smooth turning.
- Try a smaller snap increment if large jumps disorient you.
- Do not combine continuous rotation with forward movement while testing.
- If snap turns are themselves uncomfortable, return to a stationary view or teleport and change only the snap setting on a later test.
Symptoms appear during starts, stops, or strafing
- Look for acceleration, deceleration, or smoothing controls and minimize them.
- Use a constant direction and speed for a short test.
- Turn on a vignette or another optic-flow reduction feature.
- Compare straight travel with strafing; the result can show whether lateral optic flow is the more provocative cue.
You feel sick even on a virtual screen
Confirm whether the game is actually moving your viewpoint or whether the discomfort appears when the virtual screen itself shifts. Try the platform’s fixed-screen or comfort settings and reduce unnecessary head or camera motion. A game-level locomotion change cannot help if the screen mode is the source.

- Assuming a headset-wide switch controls every application. Meta says each application must implement its own preferences.
- Changing everything at once. You lose the ability to identify whether turning, acceleration, speed, or the vignette made the difference.
- Testing in the most intense scene. A crowded fight combines movement, rotation, effects, and rapid camera changes, making it a poor first comparison.
- Forcing smooth turning because it feels more conventional. Smooth rotation is an opt-in choice in the platform guidance, not a requirement for competent play.
- Continuing after symptoms begin. The guidance does not show that pushing through creates tolerance, and it can make the current session worse.
- Expecting a product to solve a software trigger. The documented strategies concern application settings and movement design; no headset accessory or other physical product is established as a remedy.
Know what the available evidence does—and does not—say
The current platform documentation supports configurable locomotion, reduced optic flow, minimized acceleration, and optional smooth turning as general comfort practices. It does not establish a prevalence rate for motion sickness in Diablo VR, a guaranteed setting combination, a universal speed, or a product that solves the problem. No directly applicable named statistic was established, and anecdotes from individual players are not a substitute for controlled evidence.
Meta also emphasizes that comfort preferences and needs vary. A setting that helps one player can feel disorienting to another, particularly snap turning. Treat each control as an option to evaluate, and keep the one that lets you play without symptoms rather than the one that appears most immersive.

Practical decision checklist
- Have you identified whether this is native VR, a mod, or a virtual-screen session?
- Did you check the application’s own comfort menu rather than relying only on a headset-wide setting?
- Did you test teleport and snap turning separately?
- If continuous movement is necessary, did you reduce acceleration, keep speed steady, and enable a vignette?
- Did you change only one setting between tests?
- Did you stop immediately when symptoms appeared?
- Did you test exploration before combat and record which movement preceded discomfort?

Does Diablo have an official VR motion-sickness setting?
No Diablo-specific official comfort guide was established. The available controls depend on whether you are using a native or modified VR experience or viewing the ordinary game on a virtual screen.
Which should I try first: teleport or continuous movement?
Try teleport first if the application provides it. Meta identifies teleportation as a comfort-oriented option because it avoids continuous visual travel. Continuous movement can remain an option if teleport is unavailable or impractical.
Is snap turning always comfortable?
No. Snap turning avoids prolonged visual rotation and is recommended as a comfort-oriented choice, but Meta notes that some people find discrete jumps disorienting. Test the available increment and stop if it feels worse.
What does a vignette do in VR?
A movement vignette narrows peripheral vision while you move, reducing the amount of peripheral optic flow. It can help some players, but it also reduces peripheral awareness and is not a guaranteed fix.
Should I lower speed or acceleration first?
If the application exposes both controls, reduce acceleration first because repeated starts and stops add visual cues. Then test the slowest steady speed that remains usable. No universal Diablo speed value has been established.
Best Value
Can a headset-wide comfort setting change Diablo’s movement?
Not necessarily. Meta says application-specific preferences must be implemented by each application. Check the game, mod, or virtual-screen app’s own movement and comfort menu.
Is there a headset, accessory, or medicine proven to fix this?
No supported product or physical remedy was established by the platform guidance. The documented approach is to adjust locomotion, turning, acceleration, and optic-flow settings and stop when symptoms appear.
How long should I keep playing to build tolerance?
The platform guidance does not provide a clinical acclimation schedule or show that pushing through symptoms builds tolerance. Stop at the first warning sign, rest, and seek medical advice for severe or persistent symptoms.
Why do I feel sick when my body is not moving?
The moving image can create vection that conflicts with vestibular and proprioceptive signals indicating that your body is stationary. Acceleration, rotation, and rapid optic flow are therefore useful triggers to test, but the individual cause varies.
What if I feel sick only while watching Diablo on a virtual screen?
The game may not be generating VR locomotion. Test a fixed virtual screen and the platform’s screen-comfort options, and check whether the screen environment, head movement, or latency is the source.
The Bottom Line
Identify whether your Diablo experience is native VR, modded VR, or a virtual screen. If available, begin with teleport movement and snap turning. For continuous movement, reduce acceleration, keep speed steady, enable a vignette, and make smooth turning optional. Change one setting at a time, stop as soon as symptoms start, and do not assume a headset-wide control or a purchased accessory will solve an application-specific trigger.
