If you have the original MV6, its guide documents a denoiser toggle; Shure’s September 30, 2026 announcement describes an adjustable slider for the newer MV6 Gen 2. The mic’s high-pass filter can help with low rumble, but it is not a keyboard-click remover.
First, identify which MV6 you have
Shure announced the MV6 Gen 2 on September 30, 2026. The generation matters because the controls described in the documentation differ: the original MV6 guide describes enabling or disabling Real-time Denoiser, while the Gen 2 announcement describes an adjustable denoiser slider. If MOTIV Mix shows you a slider, follow the Gen 2 guidance; otherwise, use the original MV6 controls documented in its guide.

Shure’s MV6 Gen 2 announcement describes the slider as a way to control how much room sound remains, including noise such as fans and keyboards. That feature description is not a promise that every click or fan will disappear.

Set up the denoiser in MOTIV Mix
Original Shure MV6
- Connect the MV6 to your computer over USB-C and select it in Shure MOTIV Mix.
- Open the microphone’s device settings and enable Real-time Denoiser.
- Speak at your normal level and listen to a recording or monitor the signal. The denoiser is intended to reduce unwanted noise, but it does not guarantee a silent background.
These controls are documented in Shure’s MV6 User Guide. The guide describes a toggle for the original MV6, not the Gen 2 slider.

MV6 Gen 2
If your MV6 Gen 2 version of MOTIV Mix presents an adjustable denoiser slider, use it to choose how much room sound remains. Start with a modest reduction, then listen for both keyboard and fan noise and for any unwanted change to your voice. The Gen 2 announcement describes the control but does not establish a universally best slider position.
Improve mic placement before changing more settings
Shure’s MOTIV Mix guidance recommends placing the microphone 6–12 inches from your mouth to reduce unwanted room reflections and reverberation. Keep the mic close enough to capture your voice clearly, with its cardioid front aimed toward you. When your desk layout permits, place the keyboard and fan toward the rear of the microphone. This uses the MV6’s directional pickup pattern as a practical setup aid; Shure does not publish a measured keyboard-rejection result for this arrangement.

The original MV6 guide lists 75 Hz and 150 Hz high-pass filter settings to reduce unwanted low-frequency rumbling. Try one if the noise you hear is a low hum or rumble. Keyboard clicks are sharp transients, so the filter settings are not evidence that the MV6 can eliminate them.

Set gain while listening to your voice and the background
The original MV6 offers Auto Level and Manual gain. If keyboard noise is prominent, try closer placement and, in Manual mode, adjust gain while monitoring both your voice and the background after each change. This is a practical setup approach, not a published comparison showing a particular gain setting will remove a fixed amount of noise. Avoid lowering the level so far that your voice becomes difficult to hear.
Consider a boom arm for positioning, not as a noise filter
Shure says MV6 Gen 2 has a universal 5/8-inch thread for a standard boom arm and an isolation base intended to minimize desk bumps and vibrations. A boom arm may make it easier to bring the mic close or reduce vibration transmitted through the desk. Neither the thread nor the base establishes that an arm blocks airborne keyboard or fan noise.

When the noise remains
Shure’s published guidance establishes the MV6 controls and placement recommendations, but it does not quantify how much keyboard or fan noise the original MV6 removes in a particular room. If a fan remains loud in the recording, move the microphone farther from the fan and closer to your mouth where practical, or reduce the noise at its source. For keyboard noise, rearranging the mic and keyboard may help; results depend on the room and setup.
