Then try an equipment-vibration isolator chosen for the mat’s weight, footprint and movement. A soft pad is not automatically better: a poorly matched support can bounce, destabilize the device or amplify vibration.
Why a haptic mat can be heard in another room
Vibration can travel from a device through the floor and building structure, where it may be perceived as noise elsewhere. The Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) describes how large machines can transmit strong vibrations through floors and walls, disturbing people in other rooms. That is general equipment guidance, not a test of consumer haptic mats.

The sound may therefore be less about noise in the air and more about vibration entering the floor through the device’s contact points. The available sources do not establish a haptic-mat-specific diagnostic test, so treat the checks below as practical troubleshooting rather than a guaranteed diagnosis.

- Note where the sound is most noticeable and whether the mat or its platform visibly moves, rocks or buzzes against the floor.
- Check that the mat and any platform beneath it sit level and do not rock.
- Look for contact with nearby furniture, walls or trim. A moving device that strikes another surface can create an additional path for vibration.
Correct any instability or unwanted contact before adding a pad. Otherwise, an isolator may not address the main problem, and a soft support could make the device less steady.

Try an equipment-level vibration isolator
IHSA recommends placing isolating or damping materials between vibrating equipment and a solid surface, usually the floor. It names mats, springs, cork and other damping materials as possible approaches. This supports the general principle of interrupting the vibration path; it does not certify a particular material or consumer product for use with a haptic mat.
When comparing equipment pads or mats, check whether the support is intended for repeated vibration and whether it suits the device’s actual contact pattern and movement. Consider:

- Load rating: The support must carry the device and the forces it produces while operating.
- Supported area: Match the pad to the mat’s footprint or contact points so the device is supported as intended.
- Thickness and compression: A support that compresses too much may let the mat move or become unstable.
- Floor compatibility: Check that the material is suitable for the floor finish beneath it.
After installing a support, run the mat under the same conditions as before and reassess both stability and vibration in the other room. If the support bounces, bottoms out or makes the vibration stronger, stop using it and reconsider the fit. IHSA notes that springs and similar devices can oscillate at particular frequencies; if operating forces coincide with one, vibration may increase. This is a documented risk, not a finding that every mat or isolator will resonate.
When the floor itself may need attention
A device-level pad and an acoustic underlayment installed as part of a floor are different interventions. Permanent underlayments are designed and evaluated for specified flooring assemblies, and their results depend on the complete floor-and-ceiling construction. A product’s assembly test value does not predict how much noise a haptic mat on an arbitrary existing floor will reduce.

For example, Pliteq describes GenieMat FIT as an all-in-one fitness floor intended to reduce structure-borne sound and vibration transmission in concrete, wood-frame and metal-deck construction, including beneath cardio equipment. That is a commercial flooring example, not a confirmed accessory for consumer haptic mats.
LATICRETE describes its 170 Sound & Crack Isolation Mat as acoustic underlayment for tile and stone assemblies, available in 3, 5, 10 and 12 mm thicknesses. Its sound-control information says full coverage is recommended and that overall performance depends on the full floor/ceiling assembly. Those details concern a building-floor system, not a quick pad placed under a haptic mat. Anyone considering floor work should check the current installation guide and confirm that the substrate, heating system, installation method and complete assembly are suitable.

LATICRETE also describes a Perimeter Isolation Strip for reducing flanking noise and breaking the vibration path between a floor and adjacent walls. This is part of permanent flooring work, not a substitute for an equipment isolator. If transmission remains substantial after addressing the device’s support and contact points, an acoustics or flooring professional can assess the floor assembly and other transmission paths.

What reduction can you expect?
No source cited here reports a measured noise or vibration reduction for a consumer haptic mat paired with a particular pad. Source isolation may reduce the vibration entering the floor, but there is no established figure or guarantee that it will eliminate noise in another room.
