For YouTube, the broadest option is Google’s signed-in Gambling preference in My Ad Center; the other platforms offer controls with narrower or less certain scope. This guide reflects platform information checked on October 4, 2026.

These controls differ in scope: a topic preference, where available, is not the same as hiding one ad or one advertiser. None of the cited platform information establishes a guaranteed cross-platform block.

Reduce gambling ads across Google services and YouTube
Turn off the Gambling topic
- While signed in to your Google account, open My Ad Center.
- Choose Customize Ads, then select Sensitive.
- Find Gambling and turn it off. Google says the preference saves automatically.
Google says this setting applies on its services while you are signed in, including Search, YouTube, and Discover. Google announced gambling as an additional topic in its sensitive-ad controls in 2020; its stated aim was to let people “see fewer” ads in selected categories, not to promise their removal. Google’s announcement.
Expect a reduction rather than a ban. Google describes the control as a best effort, and says ads may still appear—for example, a contextual ad may mention gambling, or a search related to gambling may lead to related advertising. Google explains why selected topics can still appear.

Hide or report an individual YouTube ad
On an ad, choose More or Info, then select Block ad if that option is available. YouTube says this action requires that you have chosen to customize ads in My Ad Center. If an ad is inappropriate or appears to violate policy, use the reporting option instead. Follow the current controls described in YouTube’s ad-help page.
YouTube’s ad-free paid memberships address viewing on YouTube only; they do not change advertising in Instagram or TikTok.
Use Instagram’s ad controls
Instagram’s documented interface includes Hide Ad and Report Ad, and its ad preferences are available through Accounts Center. On a gambling ad, use Hide Ad if you simply want to dismiss that creative, or Report Ad if you believe it is inappropriate or violates a rule. Review the current Accounts Center ad-preference interface for relevant topic choices.

Menu names, paths, and available topics can vary. The 2024 Singapore regulator report documents these controls, but does not establish that every Instagram account or region currently has a gambling-specific ad-topic switch. See the report’s Instagram safety findings.

TikTok’s ad tools let users personalize their ad experience, control whether information shared by advertising partners about off-TikTok activity is used for personalization, and hide ads from specific advertisers that recently showed them an ad. Check TikTok’s current ad settings for those options; the exact interface may change. The cited TikTok description supports hiding by advertiser, not a general switch to block gambling ads as a category. TikTok’s ad-tools overview.
Do not treat Manage topics as an ad-blocking setting. TikTok describes it as a way to tune topics in the For You feed, not to prevent ads. TikTok’s Manage topics help page.

YouTube Studio’s ad-category and URL blocking tools are for creators managing ads on their own channels, not viewers trying to change the ads they see.
