If F1 TV buffers or looks blurry, first work out whether the problem is limited to one device or affects your whole connection. Then test the likely causes one at a time: competing network use, Wi-Fi, apps on the viewing device, and the playback platform. F1 says its web player defaults to Auto quality based on the internet connection, and lists local bandwidth, time of day, internet provider, running apps, and connected devices as factors that can affect streaming.
First, find out where the problem is
Before changing settings or buying equipment, compare playback. Try another streaming service on the same device, then check whether another device in your home has a similar problem. If several services or devices struggle at the same time, that points toward the connection or competing household network use rather than F1 TV alone. If only F1 TV on one device is affected, focus your next tests on that device and its playback route.

F1’s app support response identifies time of day, local bandwidth, the internet provider, apps running on the device, and the number of connected devices as possible influences on streaming quality. These are diagnostic clues, not proof that any one factor is responsible in your home. See F1’s support response about streaming quality.

Try these low-cost tests in order
- Pause other heavy internet use. Temporarily pause downloads and other demanding streams, and ask others at home to pause bandwidth-heavy activity. Check whether F1 TV improves. This is a useful test because F1 lists local bandwidth and connected devices among possible factors; it is not a guaranteed fix.
- Close unnecessary apps and tabs. On the device playing F1 TV, close apps and browser tabs you do not need, then try playback again. F1 names apps running on the device as a possible factor, but does not promise that closing them will resolve a particular problem.
- Remove Wi-Fi as a variable. If you are watching over Wi-Fi, try playback near the router. If your device and router support it, compare with a temporary Ethernet connection. If the wired test helps, the wireless link may be part of the problem; that alone does not establish that you need a new router or booster. A suitable Ethernet cable, such as Cat 6, can be used for this comparison, but it is an optional diagnostic—not an F1 requirement.
- Compare another playback route. Try the same F1 content on another supported platform or device. F1 lists web, apps, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV among its viewing options, and its app listing describes Chromecast casting. Availability may depend on country and can change. If you cast, compare it with direct playback on the TV or viewing device: casting adds another device and connection step, so this comparison can help isolate the issue, but casting is not inherently unreliable. Check F1 TV’s current platform information and the app listing’s Chromecast details.
Why the picture may look blurry
F1 says its web player defaults to Auto quality based on the internet connection. When conditions vary, an automatically selected stream may not look consistently sharp. Check the live F1 Help Centre for the current guidance under “F1 TV Streaming Quality,” “Streaming Settings,” or “Video & Streaming Problems.” The available controls and instructions can change, so do not assume a particular resolution selector or manual setting is available on every device.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
A subscription feature is not a fix for a constrained connection. Formula 1’s 10 March 2025 Premium announcement described 4K UHD/HDR live viewing, Multiview on select devices, and up to six simultaneous devices. Those are plan and device features, not evidence that 4K improves a congested or unstable stream. Check the current offer and availability for your country before relying on any feature. How to interpret the results
| What you observe | What to test next |
|---|---|
| Several services and devices buffer | Reduce competing network use and compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection if possible. |
| Only F1 TV on one device has trouble | Close unnecessary apps or tabs, then compare the same content on another supported device or platform. |
| F1 TV works directly but not when cast | Compare the casting route with direct playback; the extra device and connection step can help narrow down where the issue occurs. |
| The issue persists across devices and connection tests | Check F1’s current Help Centre and contact F1 support using the route it provides. |
The platform comparison is for diagnosis, not a ranking: the reviewed F1 information does not establish that one device brand or playback method is more stable than another. Confirm that your exact device, event, and subscription tier are supported in your country before treating a platform difference as a performance problem.

When to contact F1 support
If the problem continues across supported devices and after you have tested competing network use and the connection path, consult the current F1 Help Centre. Its help portal includes categories for streaming quality, streaming settings, and video and streaming problems. Use the live pages for current troubleshooting instructions and contact options rather than relying on steps that may no longer match your device or app version.
