The exact name and menu path depend on your TV model and software. These modes change the picture’s color temperature and sometimes its brightness; the available guidance does not establish a way to turn off all blue light on every TV.
Find the setting on your TV
Start in the picture or general settings menu and search for the labels below. If your menus differ, check the manual or support page for your exact model: feature availability and paths vary across models and software generations.

LG TVs
- webOS 6.0 or webOS 22: Open Settings → All Settings → Picture → Advanced Settings → Reduce Blue Light. LG also identifies Eyesight Protection Mode under Family Settings in webOS 22 as the same function.
- webOS 5.0 or earlier: Open Settings → All Settings → Picture → Additional Settings → Eye Comfort Mode. LG associates this generation with 2020 or earlier TVs.
- Eye Care route: On models that provide it, open Settings → All Settings → General → Family Settings → Eye Care Mode. LG notes that its instructions cover all models and that menus or images may differ by product, so confirm the route in your model’s manual.
LG cautions that changing color temperature changes the screen’s colors. Its support instructions, published July 17, 2026, recommend checking the picture before and after enabling the option.
Samsung TVs
On select Samsung Smart TVs from 2022 onward, look for EyeComfort Mode. Samsung says the feature is not available on every model and may not work in certain modes or apps, including Art Mode and Game Mode. Its Australia support guide, last updated June 18, 2026, describes automatic adjustment using the TV’s light sensor and sunrise/sunset information. The schedule feature can vary with location and network connection.

If EyeComfort Mode is missing or its schedule does not behave as expected, check your exact model’s support page and make sure the TV clock is set correctly. Samsung’s Gulf support page, last updated June 10, 2026, also describes the mode; availability and requirements should be checked for your region and model.
Adjust the picture for a more comfortable evening
- Open the matching setting for your TV. Use the model-specific menu path above, or search the TV’s settings for one of the listed labels.
- Turn the mode on while familiar content is playing. A familiar show makes changes in color and brightness easier to notice.
- Compare the picture with the mode off and on. Decide whether the warmer colors or any brightness reduction improve the viewing experience without making the image unpleasant.
- Check your usual viewing mode and apps. On Samsung, some picture modes and apps do not support EyeComfort Mode; LG and Samsung menus can also differ by model and software.
These settings are picture adjustments, not a verified measure of how much blue light reaches your eyes. The sources do not provide controlled, comparable measurements across TV brands, so there is no supported percentage or brand ranking to use.

If the TV still feels too bright
A blue-light setting may not solve discomfort if the main issue is overall brightness. If the mode offers a brightness reduction, assess that change separately from the warmer color. Samsung describes EyeComfort Mode as warming colors and reducing brightness at night, while LG’s guidance emphasizes the color-temperature effect; the exact result depends on the TV.

For a Samsung schedule that does not activate, check whether the model supports EyeComfort Mode, whether the current app or picture mode is compatible, and whether the clock, network connection and location-dependent schedule inputs are set up. For other missing or differently named options, consult the manual or support page for the exact model rather than assuming every TV has a blue-light filter.

What these settings do—and do not—establish about eye health
A warmer picture or lower brightness is a viewing preference, not evidence that a TV setting prevents eye damage, treats an eye condition or reliably improves sleep. Cleveland Clinic’s April 22, 2026 explainer, “Do Blue Light Glasses Work?”, says blue-light-filtering glasses do not prevent eye strain and reports no evidence in current research that blue light from devices harms retinas or causes eye disease. That does not establish that changing a TV picture setting produces a health benefit.
Do not buy blue-light glasses on the assumption that they are an established fix for eye strain. If viewing causes persistent discomfort, a TV setting cannot identify its cause; consider discussing ongoing symptoms with an eye-care professional.
