Redeem the 25-character code at redeem.microsoft.com, on an Xbox Series X|S, in Microsoft Store on Windows, or in the Xbox PC app. Then install Forza Horizon 6 from the library or store listing on the same Microsoft account. The Xbox mobile app does not currently redeem codes.
Before you redeem the code
An Xbox code becomes permanently associated with the Microsoft account that redeems it. Sign in to the account that should own and play Forza Horizon 6 before entering anything. Xbox’s warning is explicit: “Just make sure you’re signed in to the correct Microsoft account before you redeem your code because you won’t be able to transfer it.”

- Use the web redemption page, an Xbox Series X|S console, Microsoft Store on Windows, or the Xbox app on Windows.
- Do not use the Xbox mobile app for redemption; the official instructions say it cannot currently redeem codes.
- Keep the account signed in after redemption so the entitlement and installation library are checked under the same identity.
Forza Horizon 6 is available on Xbox Series X|S and on PC through the Xbox app and Steam. A code described as an Xbox or Microsoft code should be redeemed through the Microsoft/Xbox ecosystem. A Steam purchase or code is a separate storefront entitlement, so do not expect an Xbox redemption to appear in a Steam library.

- Open redeem.microsoft.com.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that should own the game.
- Enter the 25-character code in the redemption field.
- Select Next.
- Read the confirmation details and follow the prompts to complete redemption.
After the confirmation appears, open the Xbox library or the Forza Horizon 6 store listing on your console or Windows PC and choose Install. If the game is not listed immediately, use the troubleshooting checks below rather than redeeming the code a second time.
Redeem on an Xbox Series X|S
Use these current console menu labels:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Store.
- Press the View button to open the Store side menu.
- Choose Redeem.
- Enter the 25-character code, select Next, and follow the prompts.
- When redemption finishes, open your library or the Forza Horizon 6 listing in the Store and select Install.
Xbox describes the final step this way: “Install the game from your console or PC as applicable.” The code and the installation entitlement remain tied to the Microsoft account that was signed in during step five.
Redeem in Microsoft Store on Windows
This route is useful if you plan to play through the Microsoft Store version rather than Steam.
- Press Start, search for Microsoft Store, and open it.
- Select the account icon in the top-right corner and verify that it is the intended Microsoft account.
- Choose Redeem code or gift cards.
- Enter the 25-character code and select Next.
- Follow the confirmation prompts.
- Open the Microsoft Store library, find Forza Horizon 6, and select Install.
If more than one Microsoft account is used on the PC, check the account icon before both redemption and installation. The Store can be open while a different account is signed into Windows or the Xbox app, which can make a valid entitlement appear to be missing.
Redeem in the Xbox app for Windows
The Xbox PC app has its own redemption command. Use it when you intend to install the Xbox-app PC version.

- Open the Xbox app on Windows.
- Select your gamerpic in the top-left corner.
- Open Settings.
- Under Redeem a code, select Redeem.
- Enter the 25-character code, select Next, and complete the prompts.
- Open the Xbox app library and choose the install command for Forza Horizon 6.
Do not switch accounts between the redemption screen and the library. If the app was already open, close and reopen it after redemption so it refreshes the account’s entitlements.
Install Forza Horizon 6 after redemption
On Xbox Series X|S
Open the console library or search for Forza Horizon 6 in the Store while signed in to the redeeming account. Select Install and allow the console to download the game. The store listing is also useful when a code grants a particular edition, because it shows which edition the account owns.

On a Windows PC through the Xbox app
Open the Xbox app, go to the library, select Forza Horizon 6, and choose Install. Use the Xbox app version when the code was issued for the Xbox/Microsoft Store ecosystem. The game is also sold on Steam, but Steam will not automatically import an Xbox or Microsoft Store entitlement.
Through Microsoft Store on Windows
Open Microsoft Store, select the library, locate Forza Horizon 6, and select Install. If the listing offers a purchase button instead of installation, verify the signed-in account and redemption history before buying anything.
Choosing the PC storefront
Playground Games states that the PC release is available through both the Xbox app and Steam. Full-game bundles are offered by Microsoft Store and Steam, but storefront ownership is not interchangeable. Redeem an Xbox code through Microsoft’s redemption surfaces and install from the Xbox app or Microsoft Store; use Steam only for a Steam entitlement.

If the game is not showing after redemption
A successful redemption normally produces a confirmation and adds an entitlement to the same account’s library. Work through these checks in order:

Compare the email or account identity shown on the redemption page, console Store, Microsoft Store, and Xbox app. A code redeemed on another account cannot be transferred.
- Check redemption or order history. Look at the Microsoft/Xbox account’s order or redemption history for the code transaction. This confirms whether the code was accepted even when the library has not refreshed.
- Refresh the library. Sign out and back in to the Xbox app or Microsoft Store, then reopen the library. On console, return to the Store or library and search for the game again.
- Check the edition listing. A Premium Upgrade is not a standalone base game. It requires the base game or eligible Game Pass access, so it will not behave like a complete game code by itself.
- Check the storefront. An Xbox/Microsoft redemption will not create a Steam license. Confirm that you are looking in the Xbox app or Microsoft Store.
- Check the code format. Re-enter all 25 characters exactly as supplied. If a character is unclear, use the original retailer or message that issued the code rather than guessing.
- Check service and error information. Microsoft Support provides redemption troubleshooting and Xbox error/status-code guidance. Use the exact error code shown; the available official material does not provide a Forza Horizon 6-specific error-code matrix, so a fix should not be assumed from a generic message.
Do not attempt a second redemption simply because the installation tile is delayed. First establish whether the original code appears in account history.
Which Forza Horizon 6 edition does the code provide?
The official availability information lists Standard, Deluxe, Premium, and Premium Upgrade paths. The practical differences are whether the package contains the base game, whether it is a standalone purchase or Game Pass access, early access, and which add-ons are bundled.

The Car Pass is listed as adding 30 total cars, while the launch material describes the game as having over 550 cars. Those figures describe the content associated with the 2026 release information, not a guarantee that every future update will leave the total unchanged.
If a code seller labels a product only as “Forza Horizon 6 Xbox code,” check the edition wording on the redemption confirmation or the account’s library. The code’s edition, rather than the marketing shorthand, determines whether you receive the base game, Premium extras, or an upgrade that still needs a base-game license.

Release dates and when access begins
Playground Games announced May 19, 2026 as the main release date. Premium Edition early access began May 15, 2026. These are launch dates, not a promise that a code purchased later will unlock at an earlier historical time.

If you redeem after launch, the relevant question is whether the account owns the edition and platform entitlement, not whether the original early-access clock has passed.
Finding promotional rewards after purchase
Some promotional items are delivered separately from the game installation. Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 6 terms direct eligible PC buyers to Offers & credits on xbox.com/play. Eligible console buyers should open Store, select the profile icon, and choose Offers & credits.
- PC: sign in to the eligible account at xbox.com/play, then open Offers & credits.
- Console: open Store, select the profile icon, and choose Offers & credits.
- Check the promotion’s eligibility and timing. A redeemed game code does not automatically mean every promotion applies.
If an offer is absent, confirm that the purchase platform, edition, region, and account meet that promotion’s terms before contacting support.
Common redemption mistakes and their fixes
“The code is already used”
Check the redeeming account’s order or redemption history. If the transaction is present, install from that account’s library. If it is absent, recheck every character and contact the code issuer; do not publish or send the full code publicly.
“I redeemed it, but another account owns it”
This cannot be corrected by moving the license later. Xbox states that redeemed codes cannot be transferred, so future codes should be entered only after verifying the account identity at the top of the redemption screen.
The Xbox app has no install button
Confirm that the Xbox app is signed in to the account that redeemed the code, refresh the library, and search for the game directly. Also verify that the code was not for Steam and that it was not a Premium Upgrade requiring a separate base game.
The Store asks me to buy the game
Check the Microsoft Store account icon and the redemption history. A purchase prompt under a different account is expected even when the correct account owns the entitlement. If the correct account still shows a purchase prompt, use Microsoft’s redemption troubleshooting with the exact transaction or error details.

Use redeem.microsoft.com, the Xbox Series X|S Store, Microsoft Store on Windows, or the Xbox PC app instead. The Xbox mobile app is not a supported redemption surface at the time of the official instructions.
What to do when none of the steps work
Record the account used, the platform, the exact error text or number, and whether the code appears in redemption history. Then use Microsoft Support’s redemption troubleshooting and Xbox error/status-code resources. Providing those details avoids repeating a redemption attempt and lets support distinguish an invalid code, an account mismatch, a platform-entitlement issue, or a service problem.
