If a rank-boosting service logged in to your League of Legends account and you can no longer access it, start with Riot’s Account Recovery Tool. If the tool does not work, Riot says to submit a support ticket. Recovering access is separate from overturning a boosting suspension or ban: the recovery process does not promise either, and Riot says permanently banned accounts cannot be recovered through it.
How do I recover my League of Legends account after using a boosting service?
- Check the basics first. Confirm you are using the correct Riot account credentials and check Riot service status if sign-in is failing without evidence that account details were changed.
- Use Riot’s Account Recovery Tool. Open Recover Your Account and follow the prompts for lost credentials or a suspected compromise. Riot calls this the fastest recovery route.
- Submit a ticket if the tool fails. Use Riot’s official support request form and provide the requested ownership details. A ticket is a review, not a guarantee of access restoration or penalty removal.
- Use Riot channels only. Do not give your login to a boosting provider or an account-recovery seller. Riot says credentials should only be entered at authenticate.riotgames.com; check the domain before signing in.
What ownership information should I gather?
Riot may ask for details that help verify the account’s original owner. Give accurate answers and use the current recovery form, since required fields and interface language can change.

- Any social sign-in account connected to it.
- The approximate account creation date and the city, province or state, and country where it was created.
- A Riot or app-store transaction ID. Riot receipts may be in your email; Google or Apple purchase history may also contain transaction records.
Riot may request more information. Its locked-out guidance says support review does not guarantee a solution when an account violates the Terms of Service. Never send anyone your password; Riot says it can make necessary account adjustments without asking for it.
Does using a booster affect account recovery?
Riot defines boosting as another player logging in to play a ranked match on someone else’s account. Its policy says a ranked match played by someone other than the account’s original creator may be considered boosting, and both the booster and the boostee can be punished. Riot also says account sharing and boosting violate its rules. Be candid in any support request; do not describe account sharing as a hack unless the account was in fact accessed without your permission.

Riot’s MMR / Elo Boosting – Rank Manipulation policy, published May 24, 2026, lists these possible outcomes:
| Policy outcome | What Riot lists |
|---|---|
| Suspension for boosting | A 14–180 day League of Legends account suspension, depending on severity and frequency. |
| Honor and ranked rewards | Honor may drop to level 0, and the account may be excluded from current-season ranked rewards. |
| Second boosting offense | A permanent League of Legends ban. |
These are policy outcomes, not a prediction of what Riot will decide in an individual case. Riot’s separate six-month suspension for duoing with a confirmed scripter is a different policy circumstance, not the standard boosting penalty.

How is account recovery different from appealing a boosting penalty?
Use the issue you actually have to choose the next step. Regaining access does not erase a suspension, Honor reduction, ranked reward exclusion, or ban.

|---|---|
| Cannot sign in, or account details appear to have changed | Use the Account Recovery Tool; if it fails, submit a support ticket with ownership evidence. |
| Can sign in, but Riot displays a boosting suspension or ban | Use Riot Support’s official route for the enforcement question. Account recovery is not an appeal, and support does not promise that a penalty will be reversed. |
| Cannot sign in and see a penalty notice | Recover access if needed, then raise the enforcement issue separately through Riot Support. A permanent ban cannot be recovered through the recovery process. |
Riot’s locked-out guidance explains the limits of support review. If you believe an action was applied incorrectly, provide the relevant facts and let Riot review them; do not assume that proof of account ownership reverses a correctly applied penalty.

What should I secure after getting access back?
- Protect the linked email account. Change its password if it may be compromised, enable its available security protections, and check for unfamiliar forwarding rules or recovery details.
- Change your Riot password. Use a strong, unique password that you do not reuse elsewhere. Riot recommends a password manager as one way to manage strong passwords.
- Verify the email and enable multi-factor authentication. Riot’s recovery guidance and account-protection guidance describe email verification and MFA options, including Riot Mobile or account email. Riot’s May 22, 2026 Email Verification FAQ says mandatory verification was rolling out across regions, so availability or requirements can differ by region.
- Review account activity. Check for unauthorized purchases, name changes, or other unfamiliar changes and report them to Riot Support. Riot says it can help investigate unauthorized purchases after recovery.
- Check the computer if credentials may have been captured. If malware could have recorded your login details, run Windows Security or another trusted antivirus scan before entering new credentials.
Riot’s Recover Your Account article, published May 20, 2024, describes the recovery tool and ticket fallback. Its account-recovery guidance and Protecting Your Account advice also emphasize account security and not sharing credentials.
