After a streaming PC reboots, reopen the saved YouTube playlist and turn its Loop control back on if needed. YouTube says a temporary queue will not save after you close the browser, and neither YouTube nor OBS documentation guarantees that a reboot restores the exact video, timestamp, or shuffle order. The right recovery steps depend on whether playback was in a browser, an OBS Browser Source, or a local-media playlist.
First identify how the playlist was playing
These setups use different players and do not share the same recovery controls:

- Desktop browser: YouTube plays the playlist in a browser tab.
- OBS Browser Source: OBS loads a web page from a URL, such as a YouTube page. This is still YouTube playback, not OBS’s local-media playlist system. See the OBS Browser Source documentation.
- OBS VLC Video source: OBS plays local media files using VLC. Its playlist controls apply to those files, not to videos hosted on YouTube. OBS requires VLC to be installed for this source. See the OBS VLC Video documentation.
If you are unsure, open your OBS scene and inspect its Sources list. A Browser Source is a web page; a VLC Video source is a playlist of local files.

- Open the playlist itself. In YouTube, find the saved playlist and open a video from it. Do not rely on the old browser queue: YouTube’s “Queue videos on YouTube – Computer” help page says, “Your queue won’t save after you’ve closed your browser.” YouTube recommends saving a queue as a playlist to view it later. If the rotation existed only as a queue, rebuild it and save it as a playlist.
- Turn playlist repeat on. On a computer, open a video that belongs to the playlist, expand the playlist box, and click Loop. YouTube says this makes the playlist repeat continuously. Its instructions are on the “Loop videos or playlists on YouTube” help page.
- Check the sequence. Confirm that the intended playlist is open and that the videos appear in the expected order. If you used shuffle before the reboot, do not assume that the same shuffle order has returned.
- Resume playback and monitor the transition. Let a video finish, if practical, to check that YouTube advances to the next item and continues looping. Do not assume the reboot restored the prior playhead position.
If the playlist was in an OBS Browser Source
Open OBS, select the scene containing the Browser Source, and inspect the source’s URL and visibility settings. OBS documents two relevant options: Shutdown source when not visible and Refresh browser source when scene becomes active. They govern unloading or refreshing the page when the source is hidden or its scene becomes active; they are not documented as a way to restore YouTube’s exact video, timestamp, repeat setting, or shuffle order after a full PC reboot.

Once the page is loaded, check the YouTube player just as you would in a regular browser: confirm the saved playlist is open and enable Loop. If the browser source opens to the wrong page or does not play, inspect its URL and YouTube sign-in/session state in the context of your setup. Whether cookies, playback state, or login persist depends on the configuration; OBS’s source settings do not establish that they will.
If OBS was playing local files instead
For an OBS VLC Video source, open its playlist controls and check Loop Playlist and Shuffle Playlist. OBS lists their defaults as On and Off, respectively, but verify the actual settings in your source. These controls manage local media files; they do not recover a YouTube-hosted playlist.

What a reboot can and cannot be expected to restore
Reopening a saved playlist and enabling Loop restores the intended repeating playlist workflow. The available YouTube and OBS documentation does not promise that a full PC reboot restores the exact item, timestamp, or shuffle order. For an OBS Browser Source, whether the YouTube player session, cookies, playback position, repeat, or shuffle survive depends on the setup. Treat exact-position recovery as unverified until you have tested your own configuration.

Test the restart behavior before a live rotation
- With the playlist running, note the current video and whether Loop is on. If the exact position matters, note the timestamp too.
- Restart the relevant application or PC under controlled conditions, using the same playback path you intend to use live.
- Reopen the saved playlist or OBS scene, then check which video starts, whether the sequence is intact, and whether Loop is still enabled.
- If the result differs from what you need, make the saved playlist—not a temporary queue—the source of truth and restore Loop manually. Repeat the test after any change to the browser, OBS scene, or source configuration.
This test shows how your current setup behaves; it cannot guarantee identical behavior after future reboots.
