You cannot recover a Pokémon after completing a transfer to Professor Willow. Niantic’s Pokémon GO Help Center says, “you can’t get Pokémon back after you’ve transferred them.” There is no documented undo button, recovery window, or restoration process. You can still contact Niantic through in-app support to report what happened or ask about your case, but the support instructions do not promise that a transferred Pokémon can be restored.
The official answer: a completed transfer is irreversible
In Pokémon GO, transferring sends a Pokémon to Professor Willow. The stated purpose is to free storage space and receive Candy. Once the transfer completes, Niantic’s official guidance treats the action as permanent: “you can’t get Pokémon back after you’ve transferred them.”

That means the usual recovery ideas—an undo command, waiting for a short cancellation period, or requesting a routine rollback—are not documented options. The transfer article does not identify a recovery window or a self-service restoration feature. If the Pokémon is gone from your collection after the transfer confirmation, assume the transfer is final.
This applies whether the transfer was accidental, caused by selecting the wrong Pokémon, or made while trying to manage storage. The help guidance does not publish a separate exception for rare, high-level, event, shiny, or otherwise valuable Pokémon.

What you can do after an accidental transfer
1. Confirm that the transfer actually completed
Before contacting support, make sure the Pokémon was transferred rather than filtered out of the list, renamed, or otherwise difficult to locate. Check your Pokémon storage using the information you remember about it, such as its name or species. If it no longer appears and you saw the transfer complete, treat the loss as a completed transfer rather than a temporary display problem.
Do not assume that receiving Candy means a recovery is still possible. Candy is the stated reward for transferring, while Niantic’s warning separately says the Pokémon cannot be returned.
2. Contact Niantic through the in-app Help Center
Niantic’s support instructions describe the in-app route as the generally best way to contact support. The route is:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open Pokémon GO and remain on the Map View.
- Tap the Main Menu.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Help in the upper-right corner to open the Help Center.
- Use the contact control provided in the Help Center to send your report.
Describe the accidental transfer clearly and include useful account and incident details requested by the support form. For example, identify the Pokémon, explain that the transfer was accidental, and state when you noticed it. Keep the wording factual and avoid presenting restoration as an entitlement.

This is a way to report the incident or ask Niantic directly. It is not a documented Pokémon-restoration service. Niantic’s contact instructions explain how to reach support, but they do not say that support can restore a Pokémon lost through transfer. No official restoration rate or recovery guarantee is published.
3. Keep your expectations realistic
A support reply may explain the policy or ask for additional information, but the official transfer guidance still says that transferred Pokémon cannot be returned. Do not send repeated requests expecting a different result, and do not pay a third party that claims it can reverse the transfer. The cited official material provides no supported technical or paid recovery method.
Pokémon HOME cannot return the Pokémon to Pokémon GO
Pokémon HOME is a separate destination and should not be confused with transferring to Professor Willow. Niantic’s Pokémon HOME instructions state that Pokémon sent from Pokémon GO to HOME cannot return to GO.

| Transfer to Professor Willow | The Pokémon leaves your GO collection and you receive the transfer reward described by Niantic. | No. Niantic says you cannot get it back after transfer. |
| Send from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME | The Pokémon moves from GO to HOME under the HOME transfer system. | No. Niantic says a Pokémon sent to HOME cannot return to GO. |
| Contact in-app support | You report the incident or ask Niantic about your account. | Not documented as a restoration route; no restoration promise is made. |
Consequently, moving a Pokémon to HOME is not a workaround for a mistaken GO transfer. If the Pokémon was already transferred to Professor Willow, sending another Pokémon to HOME cannot retrieve it, and a Pokémon already sent to HOME cannot be sent back into GO.

Transfer protections are not recovery tools
Niantic’s transfer guidance discusses protections and restrictions on which Pokémon can be transferred. Those safeguards can prevent some transfers from being available or make a player stop and reconsider. They do not create a recovery option after a transfer has completed.
Think of the rules as a boundary before confirmation:
- If a Pokémon is covered by a transfer restriction, the restriction may stop that transfer from being made.
- If the game allows the transfer and it completes, the official warning applies: the Pokémon cannot be returned.
- A restriction that prevented one Pokémon from being transferred does not undo a different transfer that already succeeded.
The transfer page’s protections should therefore be treated as prevention, not as a backup system. They are useful before tapping the final confirmation, but they do not establish an undo period afterward.
Common assumptions that do not solve the problem
“There must be an undo button.”
Niantic’s transfer article does not document an undo control or a time-limited cancellation period. Its direct warning points in the opposite direction: transferred Pokémon cannot be gotten back.

“Support can restore any accidental transfer.”
The support article gives navigation instructions for contacting Niantic. It does not state that agents can restore Pokémon lost through transfer, so contact should be framed as an inquiry rather than a guaranteed fix.
“Pokémon HOME can bring it back.”
Niantic explicitly says that Pokémon sent from GO to HOME cannot return to GO. HOME is therefore a one-way destination from GO for this purpose, not a recovery archive.
“The Candy reward proves the transfer can be reversed.”
Candy is described as the reward for transferring. The reward does not change the separate rule that the transferred Pokémon cannot be returned.
How to reduce the risk of another accidental transfer
Because the official policy offers no post-transfer recovery process, prevention matters more than a recovery plan. Use the transfer screen and its warnings as a deliberate checkpoint rather than rushing through storage cleanup.
Best Value
- Stop before confirming: read the selected Pokémon’s identity and make sure it is the one you intend to transfer.
- Separate decision-making from storage cleanup: do not transfer while distracted or while rapidly clearing a large list.
- Pay attention to restrictions and warnings: they are designed to limit or flag certain transfers before completion.
- Review unusual or valuable Pokémon first: take extra time with any Pokémon whose loss would matter to you.
- Use support for questions, not as an assumed undo: if something goes wrong, record the details promptly and use the in-app route.
These practices cannot restore a Pokémon already transferred, but they reduce the chance of making the same irreversible decision again.
A practical decision guide
| What happened? | Best next step | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| The Pokémon is still visible in your collection. | Do not transfer it again; verify its identity before any storage action. | The transfer has not been established as complete. |
| You saw the transfer complete and the Pokémon disappeared. | Use the in-app Help Center if you want to report or ask about the incident. | Niantic’s policy says the Pokémon cannot be returned; support guidance does not promise restoration. |
| You are considering Pokémon HOME as a rescue route. | Do not use HOME expecting a return path to GO. | Niantic says GO-to-HOME transfers cannot return to GO. |
| A transfer was blocked by a restriction or warning. | Leave the Pokémon unchanged until you are certain of your decision. | The protection may prevent that transfer, but it is not a recovery feature for other completed transfers. |
What the official guidance does—and does not—establish
Niantic’s Help Center establishes three separate points:
- A Pokémon transferred to Professor Willow cannot be recovered through a documented in-game process.
- The in-app Help Center is the route for contacting support, but the contact instructions do not promise restoration.
- A Pokémon sent from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME cannot return to Pokémon GO.
It does not publish a recovery deadline, a restoration form, a guaranteed support exception, or statistics showing how often accidental transfers are reversed. Until Niantic changes its policy, the safest and most accurate answer remains that a completed transfer is permanent.
